does anyone know how those things work? do you have to know someone with a PS2 to play an iLink race? or is it like an online gaming chat where ya can join races and the like?

iLink, or IEEE1394 is the same as FireWire. You can connect two PS2's directly using a IEEE1394 cable, or up to six PS2's if you are using an IEE1394 hub. You must have a GT3 disc for each system connected.

With three or six PS2's connected you should also be able to access the insane multi-screen modes in GT3 for one player games. I wonder who actually have that arrangement at home... :)

I have connected two PS2's for playing GT Concept and it is easy to get the game up and running, and I guess GT3 does not differ much in that respect. You just hook up the consoles while they're off, then start them up and put in the games. You don't have to make any special settings aside from choosing the two player option.

Even a short IEEE1394 cable can be shockingly expensive though. Insanely expensive, so compare prices before you buy one.

I heard that when you do an I-Link battle you cant use cars from your garage. Is this true? And if so, it wouldnt even be worth hooking up I-Link.

six ps2s? who would buy 6 ps2s? so what you are saying is that iLink is basically like a network and isn't like online play at all? It just lets you play more than two players? that sucks

i'd so love to have 6 PS2s on 6 monitors at once...but only if i could use my (our) own cars.

WHAT THE HELL!? NO ONE REALLY ANSWERED MY QUESTION!!! Can you make it like online play? or is it just some stupid **** you do to get 2 extra players?

with ILink, you can have 6 human players.
there is no way for GT3 to be played over the internet.
