Does anyone know if this (I.LINK) is out yet? If so where can I get it and how much is it. This will be a blast to get all the boys hooked up racing together!!!!

I think I read in the manual that you can have up to 6 PS2 going at the same time!

Later

Dave

Go to Comp-USA or any other computer store and purchase one of two things.

one: a 4 pin to 4 pin Fire Wire Cable which will connect up 2 PS2's together.

two: 3 or more 6 pin to 4 pin Fire Wire Cables with a Fire Wire Hub. Your PS2 takes a 4 pin connection and the Fire Wire Hubs take 6 pin connections. Comp-USA sells 3 port hubs for as little as 49.99 but Comp-USA also has a Bekin 4 port hub that will allow up to 4 PS2's to play together at 89.95. The 6 port hubs are going for around 100 or so but I haven't seen one locally here in Raleigh, NC.

This weekend me and 2 other guys are getting together to test this configuration. We are only going to connect 2 via the 4 pin to 4 pin though. I believe it will work as Sony says that their port is iEEE1394 universal. (at least that is what the specs claim). Anyway I bought the 4 pin to 4 pin cable for around 15 bucks and I am going to try it out on Saturday, July 14. Good luck with any plans you have and I hope this helped.

Thank for  the response, you will have to let me know how it works.

I will have to look around for the cable since I am in Canada... maybe future shop or Sony Store.

No problem. I have confidence that it will work. I will reply either late Saturday night or sometime on Sunday. The cable is common in the US. If you can't find the cable in Canada, you can go to compusa.com and order it online. Anyway, good luck finding the cable.

EB says they'll have the cables in here next week. There 6' cables and run 18.99. Also the cable at Compusa is availible for mail order and is 3' long and yep it does work. :) and let me tell you that this link calbe is cool as heck. Nothing like setting next to your buddy playing against him, but without the split screen, it's just to kick ass.

My bro is goin to school abroad in japan... who knows why, but he has the hub down there. he says he has all him import driver pals playin at the same time and there is no game slow down... sounds great

Well, with that little iLink, you can perform a quick and painless heart bypass in your own living room floor.  Just take the player one controller and use it as a make-shift anesthetic.  I might add, you must swing pretty hard.  You can then run one end of that iLink cable up your patient's back end until you see it come to light out the nose or mouth....wait...you're refering to the PS2 iLink.  In that case, I have no idea.

I -linking is great, dont have to put up with bloody AI at all just 5 other guys going hell for leather

true and cant view or save a replay either but is still great fun

In GTC you can watch a replay, but just once and you cant save it

i was thinking about getting the ilink system, but i am unclear if when we play with that, will i be able to use my garage, can you let me know.

I've had the full 6 players hooked up at my house. The floor becomes a maze of wires and t.v.s. i.link racing is actually driver against driver, since the cars are the same. If you compete with other people of equal skill it becomes very intense at times. Door to door and bumper to bumper. You should lay out some simple ground rules before you start racing. Our most important rule is: Rubbing is racing, but if push somebody off their line or run them into a wall, you may not overtake them until they are back on the track.i.linking takes a solitary video game and makes a social event.

same sort of rules that we employ we have a session, with one addition, if you push your way past someone and dont let them back past you cop a stop/go penalty, does make for some fantastic races and finishes i think you would agree
