Hey man nice FB you got there! :)👍

So tell me how dis you get the fd's 13B inside that classic? Did you remodel and fabracate the engine bay? How much hp is she placing out? Love it and can't wait to hear more about her.

I'm a rotoray/wankel guy myself and I always wanted to find a FD RX7 ever since I was a kid(I had two matchbox fd3s)
and when I played the PS1 GTs, I loved it even more. As experts here on GTPlanet of the rotoray, how and where can I find a fd or even a fc RX7(I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, west coast in the US) and what condition should I be focusing on I been on many sites where people say the engine, which is most important, but what else and is it easy to maintain?

Thanks to anyone who replies and keep the rotoray spirits up! :)

Engines and interior trim tends to be a bit fragile in the FD. Drivetrain is damn solid though. The turbo control system will most likely need to be replaced, as the rubber lines tend to disintegrate with years of heat around them.

Thanks for for the info there. I really would love to find one of those as my first car if I could find it. I know you have to understand the RX7 is a totally different car from a Supra, Viper etc and I know about some advantages and disadvantages that can be a problem to some. But do you any good sites that contribute to the RX7 for more reading on their theories and how to take care of them?

Thanks

I love fd rx7s... But they're too small for me, but if I fit I'd trade my supra in a heart beat for a fd with a ls1.... None that spinning triangle voodoo.. Lol

Ever ridden in a worked turbo 13b? You may change your mind.

Yes, though on stock twins. Really nasty street ported, almost a bridge (sold as a street port, but had idle of a bridge). Was quick, but rotaries require voodoo to be performed and some sacrificial ceremony to be performed before taking it for a drive, lol.

Like twisting a key? You don't need a bridgeport if you have a turbo. Just a decent streetport. That way you keep drivability. It will never make power like a big 3.0 I6, but if you want that, don't buy an RX-7.

Or if you do...buy a 20b 3 rotor. :)

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind if I can find one. ;)👍

For anyone interested, the 1981 movie Condorman is available at Amazon.com to buy or stream. Just searched it out. Welcome. lol

Hahah I first read this as "I'm a wank-a-holic". I didn't understand why so many people responded to your personal problem lol.

We should all get together and do a "drive in" kind of thing, whether it be just cruising the 'ring or TT's at Tsukuba. Feel free to add me PSN ID Adios_Son. I do my best to keep contact minimal its accidental if it happens :dunce: , I am not the best racer in the world. But it's never intentionally dirty racing :)

I would defiantly say a new rotary is making its way in the foreseeable future can't say when but I would guess 4-5 years maybe less.

Yeah the "FE3S" or "FD4S" chassis, "future of the rotray" or any name you can give it, he will be back my friends!

I read a article from a magazine, that shown a concept of how it looks if Mazda goes with the body. I remember the car follows the FD's body lines but in a "futuristic" style, retachable "pop up" lights and has a supercharged rotray engine.

That's what I read right there about it, but it completely sounds different than the turbo powered versions IMO, I hope that Mazda offers a turbo as optional or scrape the supercharged induction off, to me that just feels completely odd.

What's yours opinion or ideas?

There have been many rumors printed in different magazines... and they vary wildly. The latest is that the next rotary will be smaller and back to basics built on the next gen MX-5 chassis (read: smaller, lighter). But again just a rumor. An "insider" at Mazda recently said that although they do want to build another rotary sports car, they don't have a dedicated team on it right now.

The new engine they have been developing for a while is the 16X (this has actually been shown at car shows, so not just a rumor). It's naturally aspirated, has more displacement than the 1.3s they've been using since the 70's and has direct injection. Supposedly will have more HP and torque than the current engine and more efficient. Of course there are rumors about the engine as well, the latest being that it will be coupled with hybrid tech borrowed from Toyota.

A lot of rotorheads doubt there will be another rotary with the way that the industry is trending towards more efficient vehicles. I keep my hopes up though!
