Hello everyone,
Just a quick random post of reminiscence for this game and the good times with it and the community. I always preferred single-player racing games before this one came out and loved GT5 (and less so 6), but this game was a great gateway into competitive online racing and prompted me to get my first wheel. However, the overriding memories for me are of the main menu soundtrack and aesthetics; the vibes were immaculate, chilling after a night of racing and listening in serenity to 'Brickyard' by naotyu-. Then there were also the live World Series events during the time of Fraga, Hizal, Miyazono, Lopez, Gallo, Latkovski and more. And Super GT found his greatest success as a YouTuber by focusing on this game with his witty videos and leaving Forza behind.
I did play some GT7 after it came out but it just never hit the same; they really flunked the single-player imo, and everything about the game just felt uninspired and rehashed to me. Oh, and remember daily races, anyone??? Those were the days... it never felt the same after the switch to weeklies. That was where the game started to die for me, and GT7 couldn't recover it. Nowadays you will find me pouring my wallet into iRacing, which is quite a different kettle of fish to what this game was, but I really do miss the style that GTS had, and GT5 before it.
