Seriously. I haven't had any problem with my local Blockbuster until recently. From charging me for a late return that wasn't (it got back to the shelf without being checked in) to the latest incident - rerenting me a damaged movie.

I rented AI the other night. I was really into it, but then halfway it started skipping and freezing really badly. When I removed the disc from my player what greets me but HUGE scratches running across the surface of the disc. I returned it the next day and got credit.

Fast-forward to tonight. I decide to go see if the other copy of AI is back yet. I look on the shelf and there it is. Sweet. I head to the checkout. When the clerk unlocks the case I ask to see the disc. She looks at it and says,"Scratchy, scratchy..." I look at the disc and see very similar looking damage. I ask her to check my history to see if this is the same copy - it is!! :banghead: How silly of me to think that they'd retire a badly damaged disc! So I ask her to do this - who knows if they did. I do know that she left some kind of note on my account. :odd:

just about every video store i've ever been to sucks. i've never found a really good one.
once, i returned Driven about 4 minutes late (felt like some dairy Queen) and they charged my 3 bucks. 4 minutes, 3 dollars.

as for the account, i'd go right on back there and make as much trouble as you can - get the place to shape up.

Three dollars is nothing. I once got charged at a hotel for an extra night because I missed checkout time by 22 minutes. So I decided to stay in the hotel that night and annoy all the guests in the lobby just to piss off the clerks. And I did.

 Well, i've had no trouble with the local Video Ezy.

I have returned many scratched DVDs and PS2 games back to my local Blockbuster. No problems, I just take them back and they give me a replacement disc, no questions asked.

This brings up a whole new question. - Who are the idiots that destroy the video store tapes/cd's/dvd's?

Let me save you the aggrivation. AI was horrible, and I am a die hard Sci fi fan. It just didn't have anything to make it either good or endearing in any way.

Hmmm... you could always try my solution: Don't watch movies! :p

*waits for member rants about how some people don't have lives*

Although, coincidentally, I just got a Blockbuster for Christmas...

Blockbuster doesn't have enough VHS tapes. I was there the other day with my cousin, and we couldn't rent any awesome Arnold movies to make fun of. We had to settle for Raw Deal, which was actually pretty awesome. The Running Man would have been better.

Does anyone else rent movies to MST3K-ize?

Why? It's fun.

I swear to god if you watch Raw Deal, you will piss your pants laughing the entire movie at just how stupid it is.

Arnold says some of the greatest one-liners in movie history in that movie.

Seriously, go rent it.

If you can't find Arnold though, go for Chuck Norris. Just as lame, but fun for the whole family as well.

Or what about you just bring a trolley in and dump a shelf in?

ding ding ding...we have a winner.

I had liked the portion of AI I had seen, Tom.

Steven Seagal is 3x worse then Arnold and Chuck out together. His emotions range from stone cold look to...well...stone cold look with fake tears/blood/etc.

Six years ago, when I saw my first DVD player, I asked my brother-in-law what it was and how it worked. "Well, it's just like a CD, only easier to scratch..." was the reply.

So the same idiots who treated thier CDs like drink coasters, and never put them in the jewel/DVD cases are the ones to blame. They likely don't treat their DVDs (nor anyone else's) with any respect.

Pupik's Test of Optical Faith is to lend an unsuspecting borrower a newly burnt CD first, and then see how well the said user takes care off it after a week or two. Then, you'll know if they should be borrowing your movies.

Some people just shouldn't be empowered with technology.

It got panned, and it wasn't a kid's movie.

Those two statements right there make me interested. While the rest of the world is dissing what they don't understand, I'm there to enjoy it.

I think some critics were pissed because there weren't any soda pop or douche ads in the whole movie.

:rotfl:

Actually, the lack of douche ads is a plus in my book...

It does get a touch overbearing at points - but nothing that really earns it the abuse it has received.

It's my kind of subject, anyway. What is "life", anyway? Is it self-awareness? A conscience? Or just breathing?

or the new terrorist plot to piss of people renting movies and games from video stores
Its obviously a terrorist plot, they want us to rent all these movies and DVDs and return them so we get pissed off and dont go to video stores, so we make our way to the local WALMART to purchase DVDs for ONLY $16.88!, and with our new found happiness in the Walmart way of things, we begin shopping there, alot, and the one and only one arab guy who works there will pocket $1.67 out of each DVD purchase and mail it via THE ONE AND ONLY USPS to afghanistan paying only $0.36 for a stamp leaving $1.31 to the terrorists. so when you add up all the $1.31 from all the happy Walmart coustomers they have alot of money for shoes.

wasnt it kind of obvious?

I had Shnucks Video store(Shnuck's is a supermarket here) rent me a PC game(yes, back then(about 4 years ago) they rented PC games, several of which me and my bro kept on our pc till the PC died) that had about 1/8th of it broken off, and someone tried to glue it together...well I didn't notice it and I put it in my Presario, and heard "chink.....chink....chink....flap flap flap flap" and I took it out and it had come apart...They were some stupid people to rent that out.

I've never had a problem with blockbuster though...

I also bought a PSX mem card from somewhere(Babages I think) and it was full of Ridge Racer V(or whatever) gamesaves(which didn't help me a bit cause I didn't have the game, although I rented it and came to the conclusion that the game sucked), and I had to delete them all. That was kinda odd, cause the mem card was new in the package...

Something AMAZING! I got a Game Cube for Christmas and I went to blockbuster today so i could rent a game. But I went away with 2 games and 4 movies:p But anyway, These games(007 Agent Under Fire, and Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX) were previously rented game on sale for cheap.($14.99 and $9.99 respectivley) But amazingly, there were NO scratches on the disks what-so-ever!! But the ******** at the counter forgot to take the little yellow tab thingy out of the box so I could open it. So my mom had to go back to the store so they could take them out.
