Im a GT nut, had every edition, driving force wheel. But ive only just gone online. I created my PSN account giving myself a STUPID name. Why i did, i tried loads of variations with it wouldnt let me have, anyhow it is Whyneverloseman.:ouch: Ive got to know a few members i explain how my name causes me to be punted off all the time. It is frustrating because im a racer not a Sunday driver out to cause crashes.GTP_andrewyhy told me about ur site, and that I could create a new online ID based on my id here as i joined. So as u see im GTP_WaynePFC, but my PSN online remains Whyneverloseman. 1. Will my ID Whyneverloseman name, change to GTP_WaynePFC or are they not linked like that?
If it doesnt change, i will discard it. I tried to create a new PSN account with the online ID....GTP_WaynePFC, but it wouldnt allow it, but it did allow GTP_WAYNE_PFC. Yesterday i tried to edit my profile on here, and change my 1st name Whyneverloseman to GTP_WAYNE_PFC but i couldnt do it. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON? I KNOW IVE MESSED UP. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT ACCOUNT TO USE AND WHAT ONE TO DELETE(have to write to psn and explainto do this). I JUST DONT WANT THE NAME Whyneverloseman. I hope u can clear things up for me one way or another. SORRY TO MESS YOU ABOUT.
 
No, GTP and PSN have no official link.

You should create a new PSN to match your GTP name like you appeared to try, if you can't get perfect match, unlucky.

Finally, i dont believe you can change your name on GTP once created.
 
GTPlanet and PSN accounts are not linked in any way. GTP_andrewyhy was referring to this directory, where GTPlanet users can share their account names. In order to be accepted into the directory, users must have a PSN account with a name in the format of GTP_xxxx, where xxxx is their custom handle.

Thank you for your prompt replies. I can see now there's not much i can do, until i can afford to upgrade my account here to match the the new PSN online ID that i am using now. (GTP_WAYNE_PFC). Thank you anyway.
 
You can!
Just change the PSN id in your details from 'Whyneverloseman' to 'GTP_WAYNE_PFC'
and people will know your new PSN ID.
You can also put them both in the PSN field
