Okay. I have an idea for a book. Its about a high school guy named Tommy (16 years old, smart, shy, kid no one pays attention to, like me) whose only friend, Kyle gets into street racing, and develops a intense rivalry with the leader of the illegal race series, the leader during one race forces Kyle off the road, where he crashes into a parked fuel tanker and dies. The boy continues through high school. Graduates high school with excellent marks, goes to university, becomes an accountant and gets rich. However, we later find out that this guy isn't the good person we think he is, he finds out other peoples dirty secrets and blackmails people. He gains enough power to be able to carry out his plan. The mission? To avenge his best friend's death. He gets into this racing and works his way to finally challenge the leader. They have a race, the winner lives. That's where I am stuck. Who should win? what type of race should they do? What cars? What else? Maybe there should be some romance?Y/N?

Villain should win as his more experianced obviously, cars should prob be Porsche GT3's or Lambo's, race should be run on a circuit, no romance.

1. Try making the audience understand what's in it. A book full of Lambo's and Porsches *ahem* isn't going to be make sense because people can't relate.

2. There has to be a moral. Even in biography, there are morals to learn. It's not just reading, it's learning.

3. Don't confuse the reader. Twisting into crazy plots and branches is kinda a wrong way to go if people want to comprehend.

4. Keep it real. No fake crap or stuff that can't possibly happen.

That's just my personal rules of books.

I'm not helping set up the plot because that's the writer's job, though.

So like Ford Mustang versus Dodge Charger? Or Ford Escort against Chrysler Neon? Plus I don't want Tommy being the blackmailer type, maybe he helps out a man in the past who ends up later becoming Governor, and he then uses his power to help Tommy. Tommy wins, after the race he draws his weapon and aims at the Leader's head, doesn't or kill the Leader, because he wouldn't be able to live knowing he killed somebody, and killing the leader doesn't make up for Kyle's death. The Leader is inspired by Tommy's actions and goes to the police and confesses.20 years later the leader gets out of prison and his true name is revealed.Tommy and the leader become friends, and the leader admits he didn't kill Kyle on purpose, and that something did go wrong with his car. Tommy believes the leader and forgives him, but will never forget what he did. Tommy hopes that one day he will get to see his best friend again- whether in heaven, hell or in his mind. Good?

I always win.

Ever played NFS: Most Wanted? Your story sounds similar (minus the death and accountant bits).

Hmm, good yes, but I can't tell if your first idea is better than the second or not

Ever thought of doing GT5 fan fiction, VANDENAL?

No, because I don't have a PS3 or GT5 :ouch:. And now that I think about this, this story is like my own ideas mixed with great ideas from movies and video games. However, that being said, I must issue this disclaimer: The previous statements and comparisons of my story to Need For Speed are false. However, my story was inspired by the Fast and the Furious. The following statement confirms: VANDENAL has no affiliation with Electronic Arts, its game developers, or the Need for Speed franchise, and isn't using their ideas.

How about you make Tommy a bit like The Punisher meets Patrick Bateman meets Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker from Fast and Furious)?

I'd certainly buy your book then.

You should start by writing a short story. Don't go anymore than 5 pages. Build from there.
