Anyone drifts or tried to drift in GT4. This isfrustrating. I can't drift through U-turns. I seen videos that people do it all the time. I can't get my pos to drift through the apex. ! Any pointers as to how to sustain a long drift? I'm using a GT-R R32 and using the settings TRi posted. I've seen he's videos, he can do amazing drifts with that R32, but I can't seem to even drift through the U-turns. THis is pissing me off! I always hit the outside wall when I slide into a corner (about halfway thru the turn), I can't change the direction of my car!!! (I tried everything, handbrake, shiftlock, just brake, nothing works, the car just understeers like a mofo) I've seen ppl do it all the time. How do you change the direction of your car when your in a drift??? I can't f---ing do it. WTF? I think they seriously f------d up the US GT4. I'm going to get the Japanese version if I can't get this to work. :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

btw, the settings I'm using
settings for the r32:
All top power/drivetrain upgrades
N2s up front
N1s in back (i know what you guys have to say about it, i don't care )
Driving Aids OFF
Tranny: Auto setting 9
Spring Rate: 13.2/11.6
Ride Height: 77/77
Shock Bound&Rebound: 8/7
Camber: 3.2/2.0
Downforce: 3/8
LSD: Default
VCD: 30

I know these settings are good cuz they are TRI's settings. But I can't seem to drift through U-turns, nothing works.

Drifting Through U-Turns

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Tri didnt get as good as he did overnight - and remember those are his settings that he made for himself. No guarantees that they will suit your style.

Spend more time with it, that about all you can do.

btw - nothing wrong with the NTSC version. Look around, there's lots of successful drifters about. And remember, it was released after the Jpn version. If anything it should be an improved version.

i would suggest practicing the licenses where you should learn proper braking, so you should be able to shift your weight so you dont have that understeer problem.

Sorry, I was just pissed, I'm more calm now. lol. Anyways, I'm going to see if I can buy a JDM GT4 and see if there's a difference. TRi's settings are good, the car is easier to drift compared to my settings.

It's not my braking that's the problem, I'm in the middle of a drift, the slightest braking would make the car understeer.

Try not to brake during a U-turn turn drift, instead of using the brake briefly let of the accelerator but not too much and stay in the power band. Your wheels will recover a bit of traction and when you get back on the gas the car will swing a bit.

There is no difference in the physics engine in different regions. Your going to waste your money terribly, just because your blaming the physics engine instead of your own lack of skills.

Well, I have friends in China so I can get a copy of Japanese GT4 for cheap, it's worth a try. I did some more practice, I think I got used to TRi's settings a little more. Instead of using the computer suggested gear, I use 1 gear higher, that makes power oversteer much easier. But I still have problem with keeping the speed through the turns. For example, the highest speed I can enter the first turn on Tsukuba is about 40mph, but I would be down to 20mph in the exit of the turn. How do I maintain more speed?

Downshift while your in the corner, so that you can get a kick of torque in the rear. But you must make sure you downshift to where the torque is strongest in the rev range.

If its an R32 GTR, then i wouldn't use it, the GTR Skylines have imense grip, and they really dont slide too well, i found. However, if you practice, you could probably do it. Try looking at the Tsukuba tutorial that was posted, that helped me alot.

you really should view Tri's video before you make a judgement like that.

and, to keep more speed through a hairpin you have to have less drift angle. Think about it (or search te topic), it makes a lot of sense.
You ahve to keep some acceleration in the direction of the corner exit - going through a 90 degree turn fully perpendicular to the curb does not permit this as your accelerative force is directed fully towards the inside of the turn.

You can brake at any time while drifting. It is usefull sometimes for fixing car speed and angle at turn. But I did not see any brake settings in posts above. What about brake bias? With these settings and understeer? That mean wrong brake ballance maybe? Check Your brake ballance settings.

And all You talk about GT4 versions is just for fun, right? :sly:
