Okay i dont suck at it ..but ..well i can drift good i go into the corner and its all good ..but most of the time i can only do small drifts...i cant hold a drift for a long corner :nervous: what am i doing wrong here? i mean im giving it gas..i think maybe to much sometiems but then when i let off the drift just stops... how do i complete a big drift? i either spin ...or go to slow..any tips or help would be greatley apperciated :) also ..my car is a 1993 Silvia s14 240 with a good drift setup and S2 tires I am also useing thre GT3 wheel.

Ok, this is going to sound really mean. But you're using sport tires WHY? Unless you're running about 450hp put N2's on your car and work on your throttle control.

I dunno why lol i thoguht they were good i guess? ...well now ill change...and i have a different 240 now the silvia one it actaully is a bit better ...so i should use N1 tires? and ..hmm okay ill see what thouse do for me i guess...i havew also found that going into the corner around 180KMH is a good speed on the High Speed Ring...whats a good avrage speed to drift at?

Try N2 tires, those should have no problem sliding. There is no average drift speed really.... speed depends on the line your taking, and the angle you want, and the turn itself. So.. its up to you. As long as you have enough speed to take you through the turn completely, you know your going fast enough :)

1. Try using a proper Silvia not a crappy 240sx.
2. Try N tyres.

The 240SX's in GT4, ARE Silvias... They have the SR20DET engines... They are just badged as 240SX's for the USDM GT4... It kind of bothers me actually... I wish they woiuld just properly badge all of the vehicles in the game...

Just spend more time behind the wheel, and use N2's. GT4 also gives an explanation as to what each setting does and how it effects how the car drives, so become familiar with what you want the car to do when you perform a certain action, and then adjust your settings accordingly (especially pertaining to the LSD). I even use N1's on most of my cars (most of my drift cars havea bout 200-250hp, my highest HP drift car was my 350Z and it had 346 and ran N1's as well)

other than that, practice practice practice, wheel time is everything.

definitely go for N2 or N1 tires. Which ones depend on personal preference, but since you're used to S tires, I'd suggest N2 or possibly even N3 (for high power cars) for a bit more grip.

The 'spimplified' key to longer drifts is to keep a balance between angle (countersteering) and wheelspin (throttle). Countersteer immediately when the rear steps out, and try having the front wheels follow the racing line, and use the throttle (and slight steering) to adjust the angle of the car. To exit, you need to find a way to smoothly unwind the countersteering while decreasing the angle of the car. Multiple threads deal with this, so check the FAQ sticky first, I guess...

I'd recommend the beginner track for a bit of trial and error, you get 2 predictable turns and no needless waiting ;) And yes.. what they say is true.. practice is the only solution, it's all about feeling, adjusting and improvising. And not using sim mode with that wheel.

:dunce:

Well im useing N1's on my car...it does slide better...but....i thing im doing the wrong technique...okay...i go into the corner as if im racing it..then give it gas to make the back end slide out question...should i be in the slide as im going into the corner or am i doing it right? i know there are a number of techniques but im not sure if im doing mine right becasue with the new tires...i just end up of the track most of the time :( maybe N2 or N3 would help this? thnak for all your help guys :) i wanna get good i can just feel how much improvment i have made over the last 2 days of practiceing...im getting pretty good but i still have these problems..:( :indiff:

The track i have been useing is the High Speed Ring and the Autum Ring..they seem to work best for me :D

slower speeds going in for one, just enough to keep the car sideways around the corner, too much speeds sends you into the wall, also one thing I See newb drifters struggle with alot is they are afraid to push the car far sideways, dont be afraid to give it some angle, remember when the car is sideways you are accelerating toward the inside of the corner, and away from the outside, so give it some angle, and some gas, and then countersteer.

Yeah braking is pretty important for a proper entry in the first place. Second, your using power-over, wich might initiate the drift a bit late, so maybe.......I guess start earlier with your power over. You can try to touch the brake for a moment to HOLD the drift. You cant really initiate it with brakes, cause it'll create understeer first, but oversteer while drifting. A bit difficult.

And yes Delphic, I know with special settings, brake drifting is very easy;) But I'm talking stock...

I used to brake drift in GT3, but in GT4 I couldnt do it for shyte, so I just learned a whole new style and went with it, but I still miss my kamikaze (brake-oriented) drifts..... so fast. I could come into a corner way faster than an opponent and use the corner itself to slow down to the right speed, and accelerate out and end up going just as fast as his drift or faster, sweet stuff, still not to that point in GT4 yet

Ok, didn't know that since I have the PAL version which has Silvias and 200sx's.

haha, if I actually had time to play anymore I might rank somewhere near the top, lol. I think I've got all of about 4 hours of GT4 in since I bought it the day it came out.

last i new the silvia was a coupe and a 240 was a hatchback or liftback........ or a sileighty

Wrong...

S13 is the chassis code for the coupe and hatchback... 240sx is the name given to both the coupe and the hatchback in the US... This is due to the US S13's being powered by a 2.4 Litre engine... 2.4 = 240... The sileighty is just an S13 hatch with an S13 coupe nose...
