I don't know where to put this thread, so sorry if it's in the wrong place.

I am really split between getting either a PS4 or an XBOX ONE. Main reason being because of Forza. GT Sport won't be out until November at the earliest, and yet games like Forza Horizon 2, Forza 6, and yet to be released Horizon 3 look really great to play. Me being a GT person, it'd be tough for me to leave the series and go to another one on a different console. Online play isn't a factor with me since you have to pay for it anyways. Other games like GTA V, The Crew, and Dirt Rally are on both consoles so that isnt an issue either.

What do you think?

Dont be too loyal to one franchise and stick to what you actually enjoy most.

My opinion would be straight grab the XBone and either Motorsport, Horizon, or both. Seems that both Turn 10 with its Forza and Microsoft with its XBox are being very supportive compared to both competitors. Sure, it'll cost you more and (very) marginally less powerful than the PS4, but nowadays I like XBox more for, again, more supportive.

I'll miss the Jazz and great graphics GTSport has. But, real honest, i found Forza more exciting and looks more promising to grow its player base.

Thats my opinion, though.

Wait until both are out first at the least. Even better, try and find a friend with either to see which you enjoy more.

I know there was another thread like this where it was torn between Xbox and PS,
Like what @FrzGT said don't be too intense with one franchise/game.
Look at what other games you would like in that area.

Xbox probably Halo and other Xbox exclusive games.
Playstation has GT and now No Man's Sky.

So it should be based on what you want to play and what the future holds in other games.

Edit: Found the old thread. Linked here https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/trying-to-decide-where-to-go-after-ps3-xbox-1-or-ps4.345911/
Should be more helpful on it.

I'm not into racing games myself that much (Only game I have got from among those coming from the "car racing" genre being Gran Turismo, actually...) so can't give you a concrete advice like FrzGT did, but what I can advise to you is that you don't have to stick too much to one "particular" game you've been fond of for long already, and you give it a try at other games you didn't ever think the most favorable to you.

I guess that would be fine / worth contemplating in that you being able to have the chance to look for / stumble upon another game other than GT that might suit for your liking in the long run, and to find out those games you can be ******re you can truly enjoy with on the days to come. Or to make things even better, on playing those games you might be able to encounter with someone enough trustworthy to consult with you about what you really want and what you really want to do, and so on - if you say you can't "wait" till the release date of Gran Turismo Sports which is by far the best choice if you mind spending too much money on the video games / consoles.

A bet-hedger would point out that XB1s are cheap enough at the moment and that the PS4 "regular" is likely to drop in price once the PS "Neo" is launched. I'd be tempted to go for the XB now and hang fire on the PS4 (and GT Sport and the inevitable post-release fixes).

I'm guessing you don't play online? If so its good to remember GT Sport is an online focused game with minimal offline events

I play online a decent amount on PS3, but I probably wouldn't do much online on a next gen console because of fees.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you also have to pay for Xbox live?

Yea, that's why I didn't consider online to be a factor since you pay for PS4 online as well.

Unless there's a price difference.

I say go with whichever console has more friends playing on it. Game choice is a good reason, but if you don't have friends to play said games with, it might get boring quickly.

If I was in your position and wanted a new console with the main influence being exclusive racing games, I would go for the Xbox One. It already has 2 exclusives I would highly recommend (FM6 and FH2) plus if you wait for a few months, you can purchase Forza Horizon 3 with a Xbox One S, featuring 4K video capabilities, a more ergonomic controller and there is even a rumour saying that it has better specs than the original X1. Whether it is true or not, I would still prefer the S.

For the record, there is no price difference for online subscription fees.

That's only going to make a difference if @Cowboy has a 4k TV.

Nope. 4k resolution still allows for downsampling - and a 4k resolution picture downsampled to 1080p will look considerably better than a native 1080p picture.

If you ask me, PC is the way to go. You get access to the virtually unlimited PC game library, and Forza exclusives will also be available through Windows store. No online fee. No issues with peripheral compatibility. It takes a bit of work to set up and learn at first, but it's not that complicated.

If you absolutely must choose between FM/GT, then I'd say wait until November, read GTS reviews and make up your mind. If you have been getting bored with GT though, GTS will not have anything new to offer (unless you're interested in winning the FIA Championship). Go for Forza. At worse it's a similar game. At best, it has better car list, customization and it's refreshing to see how other developers make racing games. PD is stuck in a rut and while they are still good, the series has gotten stale and I see no change in that front.

Also read the thread linked in reply 3. That has all the discussion you need.

The Xbox One S doesn't game at native 4k.

If Cowboy gets a One S, games will be upressed from native to 4k, and then back down to whatever it is.

If it was a Scorpio then it might look better.

Ah, my bad then.

I would go for Xbone because you can get FM5/6 and FH2, with FH3 coming soon. Also if you get it soon you can get the Crew for free (Games with Gold, expires on July 15) and Wild Run for $12. Then with EA Access you can get NFS Rivals, NFS 2015 (coming soon apparently, definitely regret buying it on day one), NHL 16, FIFA 16, Titanfall, Battlefield 4, PvsZ2 and more for $12 a month. Plus discounts (I think I saved $15 when I bought NFS 2015?).

PS4 has Bloodborne if you like DS (I don't, so blah), No Man's Sky soon (PD soon though...) and Driveclub. Which is basically Project Gotham Racing 5. With PSplus it's like $20 for all but the bike expansion and the last two DLC packs. Pretty fun.

My opinion is that you have to think on what you enjoy. Do you like cars? Do you consider yourself a car nut? Have you been waiting for years for that one game to do what other games already do? Then there is no doubt that there is only one choice, and that is Forza. Not only because of the massive amounts of content and options, but because it's pretty much the only game out there that offers that and does it well. Sure, it's not a simulator, but at least Forza 6 plays as well as any Gran Turismo.

If you only care about racing and competing, then better invest on a PC and get Assetto Corsa or Project Cars. What those games lack in content, they compensate on the physics experience.

I honestly prefer Forza now, after nearly 2 decades of being a loyal Gran Turismo fan. Forza has all the cars, the customization, the perfect sounds, great graphics and everything you ever wished for in Gran Turismo. I have Assetto Corsa for PC as well, simply because it's an absolute blast to play with my G27.

If you want my honest opinion on GTS? I don't think it's worth investing on it other than nostalgia to the franchise. Other than the usual gimmicks that end up being just that, I don't feel it will bring out something groundbreaking that would make you wish the other games had (except for graphics... GT is the champ there; no doubt). You'll get more bang for the buck with Forza. And heck, you don't need a PC. Assetto Corsa will be on Xbox One too, so you kill two birds right there. And not only you get Forza 6, but also the upcoming Forza Horizon 3.

Dont be too loyal to one franchise and stick to what you actually enjoy most.

This.

And on that, if you get a good gaming PC (with Windows 10 :\ ) you can't get Forza 6 Apex for free and Forza Horizon 3 in a couple months.

If you ask me, PC is the way to go.
Aye. Especially since Forza is coming to Windows 10 in the future. I've said so a few times already, but the upfront cost of PC gaming might be higher (due to the price of the hardware), but games and peripherals can be had cheaper, thus evening things out - or even making PC gaming cheaper in the long run, depending on how many games you typically buy.

Be that as it may, my personal experience is to not purchase a console solely in anticipation of a single game. Should that game turn out to not be your cup of tea for whatever reason, you'll find yourself with a couple hundred bucks flushed down the drain as opposed to the usual sixty. Between the PS4 and the Xbox, or, more specifically, between Forza and GT, I'd say go and play Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Horison 2 somewhere, somehow. If you do like them well enough, buy the Xbox. You at least won't be (literally) putting your money on liking a game sight unseen.

Forza Horison 3 will be out a good while before GT Sport, too, so in the event that the Forza franchise doesn't satisfy you, you could always sell your Xbox before November and get GT Sport still. As long as you're not buying new, you're not going to lose that much cash.

/edit:
And I might want to point out that, so far, it doesn't necessarily seem like there will be another Gran Turismo on the PS4...

I got two points for you to consider @Cowboy;

Ps4 and GTS, and other games will be compatible with the PS VR. If this interests you. I have no idea if the Xbox will have the possibility to play in VR?

Also, if you play with a wheel you may need to buy a new one if you want to play on the Xbox...

I don't really care much about the VR. To me it seems like a waste of money to only improve graphics by not that much. As for a racing wheel, I have one that I got two Christmases ago that I very rarely use, so I won't worry much about that either.

I think if you're a person who enjoyed Gran Turismo in the past, then you probably should lean towards an X1 and FM6. GTS may be great, but it seems like it's going to be a totally different type of game to the Gran Turismos of the past. Forza Motorsport is essentially the Gran Turismo formula taken by another company and developed to their own style. It's not quite Gran Turismo, but in many ways you'll find it very, very familiar.

Also, if you ever wanted a relaxed open world Gran Turismo, Forza Horizon doesn't that very well too.

I think anyone who wants a game like the old GTs now has to be looking at Forza Motorsport. It's the only game that offers the large car list and broad tuning and customisation that made Gran Turismo unique. It looks great, drives well and is very enjoyable.

What do you mean
Say you really want Forza Motorsport 6. However turns out most of your friends and clubs already bought a PS4, didnt want a hassle of selling and buying consoles, and instead just straight buying GTSport. You'll get a choice between having more single player fun in FM6 but abandoning your community you love to play with, or otherwise in GTSport.

Its up to you, though.

Ah OK. Thing is, I don't have any friend in real life who play GT or any racing games in general. The only main club or group of people I play with anymore are the guys in Fun Runs or Beater or Sleeper Car of the Week.
