I need youtube video uploading help!

I cant seem to upload my videos onto youtube. Everytime I try, it says it's processing. But when I look at the video process information, it say 'failed- invalid file format'. The program I am using to make my videos is called CamStudio. Can anyone help?

if you can, save them as AVI. Maybe the option is called 'save movie file' or similar.

Camstudio exports AVI files only (or SWF files if you really want), but assuming you're exporting in the former I don't know why it's not working. Try:

a) Opening the exported file in WMP. Do any issues arise?
b) Uploading it to another video hosting website. Putfile.com, for example.
c) Importing the AVI into Windows Movie Maker, exporting that as a WMV and then uploading it to youtube.

make sure its the avi that you are uploading and not some other file type.

I have always uploaded the videos as .wmv, since the quality of the video playing from Youtube in the end will be very poor. Uploading a large .AVI file would be a bit of a waste.

As Jon suggested, try importing it in Windows Movie Maker (should be on your PC already if you have Windows XP or above), then going to "Publish Movie" in the File menu. It should be self-explanatory from there to convert it.

I would help with using it in CamStuido, but I've never used it before.

Well like the others say, just convert the video into .wmv format and it should upload easily. But i had a weird thing going. Every time i wanted to upload a video from Gran Turismo, i can't upload it at all with .wmv format!!!! (i recorded it off a digicam. But didn't have problems with other videos) Well then i convert it into .mpg format and it suddenly uploaded.

Maybe just try to convert the video into different formats and see which one works best. :)

I also noticed Youtube has a 10:00 and 100MB limit.

Actually that's a good point. I doubt he'd upload a raw screen recording that's over 10 minutes long, but the 100MB limit would most definitely stop remotely lengthy AVIs - particularly when they're as big as your screen resolution.

If it's too long, import into Movie Make, chop and export ("Save to my computer" in the side menu, I think). If it's too large, import into Movie Maker, do nothing (or add a cheesy title if you want) and export it in the same way. The wizard will do the rest. You can even set a filesize limit at some point. Remember, while it's 1280x1024 (or whatever) now, it'll be shrunk down to a fraction of that when it reaches youtube; so don't panic about the small dimensions when you're exporting it from Movie Maker. 640x480 should be plenty.

Sorry to bring this up again. I'm using Windows Movie Maker to make my videos, and now I am trying to upload it on to youtube. Thing is, it is still an invalid file format. Can someone help me please.

Are you sure you're uploading the .wmv file rather than the .MSWMM file?

Seconded.

By default, it should be saved in the "Videos" folder in "My Documents". If it exists, that is.

Edit: This "file" you are uploading - what happens when you double click on it from wherever you saved it?

Oh, hold on. No, I am trying to upload it as MSWMM

Do you mean on Movie Maker or on youtube. Well, on Movie Maker, I double click on open file, and it comes up with a small info sceen that says Open Project, with writing below it that says Checking Project Files. Then it loads up like it should.

As for on youtube, when I double click on it, it appears in the My Videos section. Then it takes ages to process, but when it finally does, it comes up with invalid file format. Then when you double click on the video picture, it comes up with, this video does not exsist. Is that what you needed?

Yeah, you're uploading the "Project" file, not the actual video.

Make sure you save the project as an actual Video by going to File > Publish Movie in Movie Maker, then it will tell you what to save it as, where it saves it and what size you want it to be.
