I realized B-Spec was a crock...

A few minutes ago I was messing around on Photoshop with some GT4 pics (For the "Photomode Ads" thread...) and I had the Grand Valley 300k race going on B-Spec out in the den. My not-as-lazy-as-me B-spec driver was in the Formula car, and of course he was killing the competition. About half way through the race, 4 laps ahead of the competition, I came to a realization. B-Spec was designed for people like me, the lazy american. I suddenly felt ashamed at what I was doing. I wasn't earning the prize car and $$ from this race...I wasn't doing anything. I ordered my driver to pit, and took over command of the car. After exiting the pits, I just sat at the end of pit road for 7 laps, until the other cars were 3 laps ahead of me. Then I drove. I had to drive fast, and I BARELY won the race, but I felt like I had somewhat earned it. I dunno what my point is here, other than B SPEC IS A CROCK OF S*** :)

sure, it can be looked at as for the 'lazy american', but what about the 'hard workin' american' which is what I am and probably a few others. Who work all the time and w/family do not get 8-10 hrs a day to play this truely wonderfull game. I hate that I have to use b-spec, but I do make sure that I get atleast 2-3 stints in of my own per race. This is only for series races like professional championship, formula, and the 24 hr races, all others I've done on my own.

B speck has been a godsend for me as I just dont have the time to devote to this game that I used to. I was always the type that i like to redo the endurance races in GT3 when summer roled around, but now even in the summer I only have about four hours of free time a day, and that gets split up amongst other things as well. I only use B speck for the endurance races, nothing else. and let me tell you, my progress in this game has slowed considerably ever since I finished the endurance hall.

I hear where your coming from, and I agree with you. And, when used in that way (its intended purpose) it is okay...but I am sure most people abuse the privelage. Not trying to offend any of my fellow americans :scared:

mkpelto, I applaud your efforts to experience the game to its fullest. 👍

But I highly doubt that B-Spec was invented for lazy Americans. I find it rather useful when doing races that I don't like or care to do.
It's a welcome addition in my mind and B-Spec helps cater to everyone.
Not everyone likes to race every race. Not everyone has the time to devote to a long drawn out series race. This is where B-Spec comes into play and it does well.

It doesn't matter if you're American, European or Asian. Each and every one of us out there don't like an aspect of the game or we either don't have the time for a part of the game.
Some Americans are lazy, but so are people all across the world and that is the truth. Lazy people abound in all countries and walks of life.
That is why B-Spec mode is an excellent addition by PD. They know that some are lazy, some are hard working, and others just don't have enough time, nor the inclination to participate in a 24 hour race. I know that I don't.
But PD also knows that there are some out there that want to do a 24 hour race and they have catered to their needs and have also catered to the needs of those out their that don't want to spend that kind of time on it.

👍

If it's designed for lazy Americans, why is it in the Japanese version and the PAL version?

Think before you speak. As an American I take offense at your generalization. I've got ZERO B-spec miles and don't plan on B-specing anything less than 4 hours long unless I'm in desperate need of cash to buy a particular car for an upcoming OLR deadline.

I hear that! Im LUCKY if I am able to play an hour on the weekdays before I fall asleep. After finally winning a few decent cars, I have been letting my B spec driver do endurance races overnight for me and i just leave my tv on. If i happen to wake up ill set it on 3x speed or enter in another race, and fall back asleep. I finished 1 200 mile enduro on A spec last night, then went to sleep and B-speced 2 more through the night. Works for me! :)👍

It was just a joke guys...no need to take offense. Tensions run so high in the forums, sheesh. :banghead:

Everyone here missed my point. Im not calling americans lazy, nor am I saying B-Spec is completely useless. I was merely stating that I recognized my abusing the B-Spec privelage and have started to refrain from using B-Spec so much. The post was mostly sarcastic and making fun of myself, you all are interpriting it way too much...Im sorry if I offended anyone.

yo wassup guys this is my 1st post here so bare with me lol, i like b-spec alot but sometimes b-spec can be a lil full of shyt with the AI, i do b-spec alot when i cant finish the race by myself or if i dun got the time, but ya i love gt4 n its a gift from god for b-spec otherwise how the hell can we complete those races. But i was wondering if u guys have had ne AI problems doin b-spec?

well other than the fact that the B-spec driver is many seconds slower per lap than he could be, nope no problems :)

Well if we can't make fun of ourselves, then who are we to jest about someone else :) . I will say I have abused it myself, I do a series of races a few times and get sick of it then just let the b-spec driver do his thing. I need to get away from doing that, but work as of late is not letting me. How dare my job get in the way of playing GT4...hell I bought the DFP and hardly get to use it. :grumpy:

B-spec mode was designed to put you in the directors seat of a racing team. It allows you to be a race manager and tell your driver how hard to push it, when to pass, and when to pit.

B-spec mode and it's true intention was lost on the 'lazy American' who decided that it was just a quicker/easier way to make money cause they didn't have to do anything.

I personally don't plan on B-specing a damn thing unless I've already A-spec'd it and won. I'm not sure if I want to go back and B-spec some races that I've done all on the same game, or wait until I've beaten everything and then go back and B-spec it, or get a new memory card and use that one solely for B-specing. But I can tell you one thing, I'm not about to crap out on an enduro and throw my A-spec points out the window. If I seriously cannot finish an enduro myself in a sitting, it will stay paused until I can come back to it.

my ps2 is still on at home, it was finishing a b-spec race when i left for work today :)

I see Your Point & Its valid, thing is Your offending your proud contrymen, at the same time not advisable, :scared:

The B-Spec is an invaluable Asset Races that would otherwise never get done, or on such Monotanous tracks, E.g new York. Its No Crock,
Its Only when your doing little racing, its no longer racing its, a driver mangement sim. :yuck:

So, use it as the tool it is, Not all the time, Just For those times, when the callouses hurt too much

Yours Tm

A 24 hour race is designed to test the endurance of the car and a team of drivers. No one driver is allowed to drive the whole race.
In GT4 my car will never break so doing lap after lap for 24 hours by myself is totally unrealistic and is not a test of ones skill. I say let B spec drive the either all the race or part of the race and do not let it bother you.

I use B-spec a lot. I just passed 50%, and my driver is at ~7300pts. All I can say is that B-spec is a lifesaver. I don't know how else I would get through the game, because I simply don't have time to play all that much.

You see, not only am I busy, but I don't even own GT4! I'm borrowing it from a friend until I can afford my own copy. I've borrowed it 3 times so far(played for ~1.5 weeks total), and each time, I wanted to get as far as possible before giving it back. I've had it for a little while longer this 3rd time, because my friend's game data got corrupted. He didn't use B-spec at all when he played, but now he realizes that it could really come in handy for the enduros. Now it's in his best interests to let me get as far as I can, since my driver is up to such a high level. He can copy my game save later. I'm even buying cars that he wants.

Now that the sob story is over, here's the real reason I use B-spec: There are certain cars I want, and I want them ASAP. I might sound like a heretic, but the whole '100%' thing doesn't really matter. I know I won't reach it, because I don't care enough to get golds on the licenses. I really just want to have fun! I want to build a great garage and beat the pants off of my friends, real people, rather than the same old AI drivers.

Using B-spec lets me move along as fast as possible, so I can do that. Of course, I have to A-spec the Special Conditions races, but my rally skills needed work anyway. I can tell I'm already getting better at it. Occasionally I'll A-spec a regular race if it looks fun(and short!!), or especially if my driver isn't aggressive enough in passing the competition.

I have over 10K B-sec points and only about 5K A-spec points....I really like the B-spec as Im not the best driver in the world, but at the same time Im getting the game completed. :)

its getting boring reading all the b-spec threads....

B-Spec is the BIGGEST cheat in GT4. I have a friend (mark) who used Bspec over and over again on the same easy race, constantly, so he could get money for an expensive car. He then used this car IN BSPEC MODE to win more races, even though they werent enduros. He used an OVERPOWERED CAR in a race where it wasnt necessary, using BSPEC mode. Where is the skill that is normally accustomed to a GT player? This is a sad use of something which wasnt meant to be the focus of the game.

Fair enough if you use it on races you've already won in Aspec, but using it to win races cause your lazy is lame. Does Michael Shumacher ever go: "sorry guys, dont feel like doing this race, but hey, you could just put the car in Bspec mode, that'll do the trick", or Mark Skaife (Aussie V8 Driver) go "sorry fellas, don't feel like Bathurst this year round, its too long, put it in Bspec.

SHAME ON PEOPLE WHO OVERUSE/ABUSE BSPEC!!

No Offence but what gives you right to put shame on these people,

Sorry but what Are You Grand Ruler Of Gt4

Its A Game, People do what they like, just like you dont, say shame on people for drifting , take the racing line, so what if wants to use b-spec, it isnt killing you,

Cheers Tm 👍
