I really hope there is something beyond GT for Polyphony

A game involving Italian plumbers hunting blue hedgehogs round a maze being chased by ghosts.

That's original.

Gt6 with porsche lol

That's EA doing, they hold the rights to Porsche and will not allow any game made for PS3 to have Porsche in it(or so I had been told). EA recognizes the power of PD and what they have done in the automotive sector with their GT games. Seriously who would have thought that PD would have had influenced so many auto makers? From Nissan, to Mitsubishi to Citroen to the Red Bull race team...these guys have carved a place in history for themselves.

I say this because upon hearing that GT6 in production I somewhat get the feeling their talents being put to waste.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the GT game, however I would really would like something refreshing from them once in a while other than cranking out the same thing over and over.
There are plenty of other capable developers cranking out plenty of other things. Besides, I wouldn't say that 5 major iterations of a game spread out over 13 years (not including original development time) is merely "cranking out the same thing over and over"...

Personally, I'd love to see Tourist Trophy 2 as their next major game after GT5, and after that...more GT please, just bigger and better.

wow did you just say they may be putting their 'talent to waste'? uh...yeah, no comment.

TT2 would be ace. I've just re-ordered TT and got a PS2 component cable on its way to get the 1080i playback, so you can imagine I'd be happy with TT2 in full HD glory.

I'd hope it was more like GT's structure though. Does anyone remember Riding Spirits 2? It was a bit ropey on the track, but the amount of bikes and customization was pretty impressive for the day and it's the truest 'GT on bikes' I've played.

-> The production of GT6 won't be as long as GT5, so there is still life to these talented blokes. There are many games that they can develop once they're done halfway GT6:

1. Tourist Trophy 2 - This will be that best bet that PD will develop. Also it will be easier because PD will just have to adapt anything GT5 without the cars.

2. Motor Toon GP 3D - Or 'Gran Turismo for Boys', either way. But this could be a possibility.

3. Omega Boost: Resurgence - Ok, I made that title up. This title was an underrated gem back in the day. This would be PD's most extreme representaion outside the world of GT. And if they release or re-release the francise, I would take a knack of playing it.

:)

From one of these 3, which is better to do first? 💡

No point in doing a TT2, add bikes into GT5 as a DLC or expansion.

Would that defeat GT purpose as a car racing game? There are many GTPers that opposed motorcycles in GT5. :grumpy: (Search GT5 forums with motorcycle as the keyword ;)).

Gran Turismo PSP 2 (or Gran Turismo Spec-II to avoid confusions), anyone?

Will it be better than the first PSP game?

Gran Turismo PSP 2 (or Gran Turismo Spec-II to avoid confusions), anyone?

I would love an off-road simulator from PD, or a game with GT like physics but an arcade approach (Few iconic cars, non modified) with tracks like NFS5:PU, PD would kick a$$ at that.

GT for PSP2 would be awesome. The only question is, how powerful is the PSP? It has been rumored to be as powerful as the original xbox. That means GT4 with some AA (or no AA if the screen is ~250ppi) and a revamped lighting engine and a new suitable game play approach (we should have a thread for GT PSP2 game play). TBH PSP2 is going to be powerful enough to be able to handle decent looking arcade racing games from third party developers (like NFS series or Midnight Club). So I wonder if PD would even go for a GT for PSP2 (Assuming they are not pushed into it by Sony).

Or, since Kaz and PD seem to have a passion not in just cars and racing but also like to dabble with design make a game that expands to the Nth degree on what the game APEX was on the Xbox. A game about designing, racing and winning sponsorships to design better and faster cars. Except in APEX all the concepts were preset and there really wasnt any designing done by the player.
PD could build a system that allowed the player to choose various chassis, drive train configurations, engines, incorporate all the current tuning options. The works in customization. have a library of modifiable body parts based on past/current and fantasy designs(Think NFS Carbon but better). PD could even enlist automotive design students/schools to pitch in. Include wind tunnels, test tracks etc... The game itself lends well to a story of campaign and would fit into Sonys Play, Create Share ideal.

Lets not forget the big part PD played in the software for the 2009 GT-R

I can't really remember where I read that. :ouch:

I'd love for PD to use this incredible engine to make a more 'arcade' like game. TDU with a very good physics engine, for example, would be too good for words. CPU traffic could be standard cars.

^ I would say; PD knows where the next $ is at, and that would be TT2. ;)

KY's RPG ambition-> He could do an RPG easily on the next Omega Boost sequel. 💡

Tourist Trophy 2

I second that. TT had a lot of potential, and was quite good, albeit I have some issues with 2 wheels less. lol.

Considering that PD is quite small, I don't mind that they focus in the GT series. Maybe they could try something like Wipeout or Motorstorm, but then GT 5 would have taken 10 years to come. :nervous:

Will it be better than the first PSP game?

It should.

if they made it like GT2, rather than a GT Lite, then it would already be better, i would probably have bought it then. shame :indiff:

The first GT PSP is lite version of GT4. Then GT PSP 2 should be lite version of GT5. It can't be "standalone game". Another shame? :indiff:

The only question is, how powerful is the PSP? It has been rumored to be as powerful as the original xbox.

Thats good. Xbox is more powerful than PS2. :p The only problem is:

It rumoured.

:ouch:

So I wonder if PD would even go for a GT for PSP2 (Assuming they are not pushed into it by Sony).

They would, pushed or not. Seems the current GT PSP uses nearly all the resources of PSP, so I think it can't be any better. GT PSP2 should be PSP2 title.

I wouldn't be surprised if PD sticks to GT titles for the time being. It's making them incredible amounts of money, and it's what they are good at. Maybe down the line, they will try some more focused racing titles, like a JGTC, DTM, or BTCC type game. I don't see them doing much else. If they start other titles, I can almost guarantee it would be built off of the GT platform.

Yeah, various cars and/or race mods in various GT games.

Really? Do you usually write while you're asleep? In your opinion GT5 is "talent being put to waste" ?

Useless to get into the details of why you might be wrong, as that's just your word against that of millions (really!), but have you ever heard of letting people do what they do best?

Why not take a physicist and make him bake bread, huh..?

Yeah, various cars and/or race mods in various GT games.

Interesting.

Would you, or anyone reading, be willing to pay $30-60 for an 'add-on' disc a couple years or so down the line?

Instead of getting milked every couple months via DLC; would you buy another disk as an add on, kinda like getting MS Office as an add on to Windows7?

Not sure if it's possible, or a wise business decision, but if PD is not going to release DLC - a GT6 Prologue/GT5 add-on (if you already have it) may be in the works.

Would any of you want something like that or is normal periodic DLC OK?

Either Kaz's RPG game or a very serious sim racing game for PC like rFactor2/iRacing but with PD graphics and race cars only .. don't think they'll make a lot of bucks from this.

You know what, if you look at Best Xbox/PS3 selling games the top one's are shooting games. Maybe they should make an FPS game too. A real one(Authentic Addictive FPS game) y'know not a sci-fi game

My dream Polyphony game would be an open wheel racing game. If PD were to acquire the F1 liscence, I would be extremely delighted.

Of course it wouldn't be enough to just make a game where you race F1 cars. They would have to buy the rights to a couple of F3 series and perhaps some Formula Renault or Formula BMW series too as well as GP2. You would need a proper career mode that could take you from karting up through the ranks of single seater racing.

It's probably too good to ever be true (at least not in Bernie's lifetime).

Pixar is brilliant, no other words for it. They recently opened a studio here in Vancouver, which is really exciting!

My take on this, is Pixar is the leader in animated CG, and will continue to be because of their individuality, which I am confident they can maintain.

Good luck because they lost that individuality when they became that sequel machine for Disney. Not that, but in the but in long-term its going to ruin them

As for the PD-Pixar comparison, the reason why I made that comparison is the fact both are very talented in their own right and have all but become a victim of their own successes and now seem to operate under the mandate of nothing but sequels. Looking at game developer like Bungie, this particullary why I'm glad they liberated themselves from Microsoft...now they are free to purse other things other than just make endless Halo sequels.

Pixar as sequel machine? Unless I'm being dense, they've only done two sequels, no?

I'm prepared to bet that less than 3 months after GT5's release, a Tourist Trophy 2 trailer will show up on all the gaming websites. Just like GT4 and TT
