Hi everyone,

Can I get your guys' input on whether or not to purchase the game? Here's my dilemma. I have huge backlog of ps3 games which I want to play, but a couple that I will and want to definitely get through. That includes Arkham Origins, gta5, and a couple of older games. I'm currently playing grid 2, always play the last of us and nhl 13. However, I also have PS4 with Killzone Shadow Fall that I keep playing too. I preordered gt6 but havent had a chance to pick it up yet. I love racing games, have all the GT games, but just not sure if it's worth the $60 right now considering how little time I have to play all these games. I golded all the licenses in gt5 and played it quite a bit but it died down on me, the single player wasn't as fun as the other games. Are the challenges in gt6 just as good as the challenges in gt5? Please help! I'm considering swapping that preorder for a different game or a gift card instead, maybe NFS for ps4. Also, I love playing games online and that's what I always do, but for racing games, online play just isn't that fun for me. Any suggestions?

well I think you should look around this sub-forum for posts of opinions on the things that are important to you in the game. There are praise threads and negative threads. Wade through them & you'll get an idea if you think you will like it.

Yea, I read the forums everyday and have a good sense of the different opinions on the game. I know I'll love it because I'm obsessed with cars ad GT, but so many games to play, just wasn't sure if it'd be worth it and the chance of a deal on it soon or something. That's why I thought I'd post. I still have to play arkham origins, gta5, la noire, grid 2, a bunch of playstation plus games, then killzone shadow fall (finish it up). Meh I guess I'll get it, i'll get addicted to it like always.

My advice to you; It sounds to me like you would benefit from waiting a couple months and let PD polish the game before purchasing.
Right now it's shockingly unfinished and buggy.
It has great potential though and will be a great game, eventually...

I'm in a similar situation, although my backlog isn't as great (Uncharted 3, Skyrim from an $8 Amazon deal, never finished the first Gears of War and I have the set), but I don't have a lot of time, love racing games and driving in general. But because of my feelings after pre-ordering the collector's edition to GT5 I decided to hold off on 6. I'm thinking that, by the time I get enough time to play 6, it'll likely have quite a few more patches and possibly even be less expensive, so I'll wait. (Although it's kind of telling that we've recently gone from expecting a thorough, polished game at launch to one that has some issues and will be patched). That's especially true if you haven't started GTAV yet. That will be a major time suck. A majorly awesome time suck, but a time suck nonetheless.

Yea I'm starting to think that too. I just have too many games to play that I know I will enjoy and money is tight too. By the time I get through those games, GT6 will probably be cheaper any way. I just fear that if I don't buy it now, I won't have as much fun with it later on because the PS4 games will pile up too - driveclub, infamous etc. I'm enjoying Grid 2 right now through playstation plus, and will be getting need for speed rivals for ps4 in less than a month. I think I'll hold off on gt6 actually, thanks guys! I LOVE the premiums and stuff, but man, just too much to play.

Here's an idea, don't think of GT as a game, think of it as a filler to get your racing/car fix. If you have the money, get something else alongside it so if you need a break from it, you always have something else to do! Variety is the spice of life!

Also, what's with people having back logs of games . It takes less than a month to beat a game nowadays, and that's stretching it out. I wanted GTA5 so I got it, beat it in a few weeks and moved on. It was only a placeholder until GT6 released, perfect timing!

Stick with GT5. or get it if you don't have already...for $20 used.

GT6 is 30% of GT5. Its a Rip off!

However, I was playing GT5 right up until I got GT6.
I have not wanted to go back to GT5 since.

But, GT6 is clearly not finished yet, we know that several features are to be added - I am particularly looking forward to the track creator.

The extra tracks are fantastic, and some are taking advantage of a glitch that enables them to stock up on credits.

I would say it worth getting, not completely convinced that it is worth the full price at the moment, but signs are that it will be.

Another way of looking at this, and relevant to those who bought DLC in GT5 - how much would you have paid for a GT5 DLC pack that included one track and 15-20 more cars? I think I am correct in saying that GT6 has at least the equivalent of 5 of these packs!

Lol it must be so hard to decide, about half of this thread is split into two different sides 50/50 each on some saying GT6 is good but unfinished, and others saying GT5 is much better.

I played GT5, loved it, didn't play the GT6 demo, and the limited advertisements for GT6 didn't even make me realize there was even going to be a 6th one. Only about a week till release did I find out and, I figured with a couple trade ins, GameStop powerup rewards, I could pick up GT6 for 3$, so I did, and I have some complaints, but more positives than the negatives.

For you, just look at it like this, GT5 is done, there is nothing they can add to it, PD is over and out with that game. If the leveling system and the environments and flora are your game, then stick with GT5 because thats what its good at as of now compared to GT6.

GT5 is already a complete experience, all the patches are out, the game is at its full potential, replayability is excellent as with all GT series games.

GT6 is a work in progress as many others have stated, but the thing that separates GT5 from GT6 is that overall, as in OVERALL the general consensus from reviewers and people on the GTPlanet forums is that GT6 is a good game, better than GT5. Thats the overall consensus and there will be disagreements but it is what is.

If you think about it, a game that is generally viewed as better than GT5 but is still incomplete as PD and others have stated is quite a good "incomplete" game. Incomplete game is better than complete and fully patched game, dang.

GT6 as of its current status is an investment, only time will tell if it becomes a good investment that grows in time and makes you a millionaire, or if its a pyramid scheme that will leave you decrepit and angry.

My take for you is that you can go about two ways, one is to buy it right now, play GT6 get the feel for it, and wait along with the others who bought it for the game to progressively get better (the amount of content and mini updates so far is quite impressive).
Another is to simply wait, (stock market references) you can just look and see on these forums as more updates roll out to see how far GT6 has progressed, if its "stock worth" is going up with time, or simply decreasing, and you can proceed from there. Obviously buying it when it becomes even better, or skipping this one if it becomes worse.

You will lose 60$ with the first option if the game somehow becomes crappy with more updates (not as likely imho) but its 60$. Your not buying a house only to find out its sinking into the ground because of crap foundation. Its a game, and you can resell it later on if you don't like it.

Good luck !

I would wait if I were you. Right now you're not missing much.

Unless you can somehow get your hands on a pre-order with 15 cars or whatever from GameStop you're just going to frustrate yourself with game issues and ridiculous grinding just to earn a few credits and buy mid range cars.

I'd wait, play your other PS3 games and in 6 months go pick up a used copy of GT6. By then things should either be humming along nicely or gone completely pear shaped where the community is in flaming ruins and nobody is playing the game anymore.
