anyone else completely underwhelmed with GT6?...

so many things this game missed the mark on. the FF cars in this game handle nothing like the do in real life. no lift off oversteer AT ALL.the way the grip breaks away is COMPLETELY unrealistic. one minute you have tons of grip, then next millisecond without any warning, you're sideways. you can't lead progressive oversteer into a nice four wheel slide coming out of a corner, and it's ridiculously bad.the framerate tears are also driving me insane.all the cars tend to drive like one another, too…..Gran Turismo has had this problem for a while...the one nice thing I can really say is that the menus and presentation are really nice.

The FF understeer thing may be true, but the grip IS there. The cars drive the same because you're not driving at the limit. I use a DS3, by the way.

As for the framerate I don't know what to tell you. I honestly don't feel it but I may be part of a small minority.

I'm very underwhelmed with the in-game content. Given that this is still an early version (1.01), I expected a more complete game as I played. Having done all licenses and golded all special events/missions with cleaning up of other events to do, there's little to nothing to do in this game at the moment.

I know GT games since GT5 are always being updated since release, but it's just underwhelming to me at this point. I sincerely hope that the (hopefully imminent) future updates add so much more content to the game. There is barely enough reward credits to get a regular player by unless they had the Anniversary cars, which is basically your own "complete the game kit".

That set of cars can clean out most of the events within the game. I do have these cars, but I did not use them even once during my playthrough and I barely scrounged up enough credits to purchase cars & tuning upgrades specifically for game completion. I have not been able to impulse-buy or purchase a car for myself yet, which is just terrible.

I'm hoping I can get my money's worth out of this game when Christmas time comes, otherwise I'll be disappointed for the first time at the Gran Turismo series...

Umm, drive the cars and enjoy the fantastic physics? I just took a slightly modified Boss 302 Mustang around Ascari for a few laps and I had to force myself to stop and try a different car I was having so much fun.

I can't drive the cars I want and enjoy how they handle unless I purchase them first. I haven't been able to buy any cars for myself as I stated. I'm not that picky, either, but some cars have ludicrous prices at the moment. I hope those drop; I'm glad the X2010 is cheaper, but earning credits is harder particularly if you're playing for completion.

Some supercars or racecars would take several replays of the same event just to earn the credits to purchase it. I truly feel this is Sony's fault for trying to maximize the profit of the game, but that's just how businesses show who's the higher-up. Sure, gameplay progress isn't hindered, but gameplay enjoyment definitely is at the moment, for me that is...

I am with elston, I played for 1 day, and ended up putting GT6 back in it's case shaking my head, it'll stay there for at least a month unless they (PD) really start to wow me with delivering 'promised' content.

It really is GT5.5, GT5 with some bells & whistles, new physics and star-porn only take a game so far.

When you play with a DS3 the game can get boring quick, get a wheel in your life and GT becomes the most amazing racing game you'll ever play. I played so much last night my arms are hurting. I had to make up some excuse at work.. I couldn't tell them i spent 8 hours last night racing around in a video game lol.

You might as well return it and go play something else as it sounds to me like you'll never be happy.

Now back to enjoying my kick ass Miata...

LOL! yea, that's totally it...

also, the sounds are STILL garbage! I mean, they supposedly take HQ samples of the cars at a whole bunch of different points all throughout the rev range.....how do they still sound so freaking terrible?!

Me too, I had my FFB on 8, I had to turn it down.

To the OP; If anything the tires physics and suspension are surprisingly realistic, trust me on that. I can trail brake all day long with beautiful rotation in GT6, even in a FF car. Get a wheel if you don't already have one, it makes a world of difference.

There are a ton of issues with the game so far...lol..but they sure did get that part of it right. Outside of the crazily oversteering Stratos with it's special Ice Hard's on the back, every one of the 15 or so cars I've driven has been tremendous fun, from econoboxes up to the one racecar I've driven. The new tracks are great, you can tell they put more effort into getting the track physics right. Feedback from bumps and curbs is great, loss of grip cresting hills is spot on it seems. I haven't gotten to Ascari or the Stang yet, but I have feeling it'll be one of my new favourites:tup:

Yeah the physics are vastly improved, the sense of being on the edge of grip is much more apparent, though i do think the body roll is a bit excessive on some cars though, but eh. It feels great. One way i know it's better is i can actually drift now with my wheel, as in GT5 it was much more difficult.

Nah, I'll hold on to it for now and give it/them another chance in about month, whether or not they've fixed many issues by then will determine a keep/trade decision.

I can be happy, I'm just not going to put my BS-blocker shades on to do it.

I have a wheel for the game, and plenty of real life racing experience in all sorts of cars in all sorts of scenarios to know how a car is supposed to handle in real life on the edge of grip. the way traction breaks away is something like a real racing slick, but exaggerated even more. even slicks give you some sort of warning when they're about to let go...even if it's really quick. the tires in the game are just here one second, gone the next with no warning. I say the tires because the fronts or the rears are equally bad about losing grip with no warning.

Alrite, let's stop with the 'realism' word here; I hate the complete lack of FF oversteer too (it's in a thread I made) but the type of people who talk 'realism' on a game are the type of people with an IRacing subscription, once did a track day and/or autocross, beat a few of their mates from the office at the works Christmas do at the go-karting track last year, and who now think they're Jacques Villeneuve.

Would you like to share some things about your "Real life racing experience"? Photos? Videos? What car you drive? Please don't say you have real racing experience when you may of only done a track day or an Auto X...

We were thinking the same thing lol

  1. I noticed my 15th Anniversary HSV; I can't select its Turbo 3 for some races after when I've already bought it. Does it affect the other HSV cars as well?
  2. Despite some suspension tuning, the GT3 GT-R cars can't turn well compared to the GT-R TC (then released as a DLC for GT5 in late 2011).
  3. Price of X2010 cars increased by Cr. 1 million after an update! It was 5 million a couple of days ago, now 6 million!!!!

This is my post of the year. You just described, in an extremely efficient amount of words, exactly who probably 90% of the guys who complain about "realism" are. Bravo.

I'm not underwhelmed. It is pretty much what I was expecting.

I kind of miss the beautiful Kyoto in the photo mode. I hope they'll add more locations in the future.

Maybe I should buy one before they change the price to 20 million.

yea, I've raced all sorts of karts...anything from 4 stroke flatheads up to 125cc shifter karts. I've autocrossed and tracked all sorts of cars from my old e-stock MR2 on street tires that I used to own, to a 450+hp STi that a friend owned. I've had friend who have let me do track days...street cars ranging from a Scion FR-S and Mini Cooper S, to upper end cars like a Ferrari 355 and fully prepped race cars like a decently slow BMW E30 to a 400hp F-body Camaro. in 2008, I was also one of 53 drivers selected from a pool of over 600 worldwide applicants to take place in a scholarship shootout held by Skip Barber down in Sebring, FL. I was racing against the likes of Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden that day, and was less than a second off their pace...it sounds like a lot, but that was the first time I'd ever seen those cars or that track...they, on the other hand, had done more races in those cars than I have in anything up until that point. plenty of the judges (grandam champs, ex-IMSA champs, ex-F1 drivers) all had nice things to say about me, on top of showing the necessary car control to hang the ass out at 130mph when going into turn 17.

I know how to drive, and I know what is expected from a car. this game has been pretty underwhelming with the physics and how cars are supposed to react on the limit. any more questions about my abilities?

Yeah, I know how you feel man. I was racing in karts with Hamilton when I was younger, i was the poo, only a few tenths off his pace on my first race. When the season was out Ron Dennis had to do a coin-toss between both of us and I lost, so now I spend my time playing Gran Turismo and complaining about it's lack of 'realism'.

like i stated yesterday, game is pure garbage. apparently PDI has taken a page from EA sports in thinking people will buy credits to in turn get more cars. you will be here forever trying to grind to get any decent high end cars. what a joke, i will be returning this garbage in the morning, take the unopened package and return it a t my supertarget for instore credit

be a jerk about it if you want, I don't give a ****. the simple matter of being a professional driver comes down to if someone can foot the bill, not if they have the talent. I wasn't quick enough on that day to take away top honors, but even if I had, I would have still needed to afford travel and potential crash damage. if anything, that weekend proved my talent to me, and that's all I needed to know. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, nor was I born as the next coming of Ayrton Senna paired with every little thing happening just the right way to lead them into the money. I'm doing what I can in my adult life to get me back to racing, and things are turning out well...just have to continue down my path.

Sucks for you man. I actually beat Ayrton Senna's ghost head to head in an MP4/4 yesterday. Real life bro. Beat him by 15 seconds

You say the game is garbage yet haven't even opened up the game? Yeah, I totally respect your opinion and judgement.

Feel we got a lot less for a lot more £

Game feels slow.
Single player is a breeze.
Credits are hard to come by. (Got Limited Edition but want to try other cars too)

All in all it feels to me like GT5 with better car graphics and a lot of content removed or reserved for DLC !
