I saw an 'R35'!

Mustang-man
If Jordan was in the South Island of this country today then he drove right past me. ;)
I saw another V35/R35 which was the same colour as the Jordanmobile and had a rear spoiler. Once again i was at 100Km/h and it was headed the opposite way.
It's definately not R35. You can call it a V35 Skyline or a V35 Infiniti G45 :D

That would be the Infiniti G35. As far as I know, there are no plans to have their 4.5L V8 put in that car. And I'm fairly confident that the 35 comes not from it being after R34 in the skyline evolution, but from the fact that it has a 3.5L engine.

Yes the '35' from the Infiniti G35 is due to the engine capacity. While the V35 is continued from the Skyline evolution. Dont forget the V35 is only officially called the "Nissan Skyline" and V35 is the model code.
Although the US version is offically called "Ininiti G35".

I know the Impala has round rear lights. Good way to embarass posers who yell, "Hey, there's a Skyline". I swear, some kids are so ignorant...

EDIT: Gah it won't work neverimind, but there still is a major difference.

If i got a job earlier on this year i'd see a Skyline everyday too. In my driveway. But due to me not getting a job i still have to find $1,800. :(

The R33 and R34 skyline's are the absolute best cars ever to come from japan, and best alot of others. I live in the states so we still dont even get the skyline per se. but if the V35 is anything like the infiniti G35 nissan completely frigin destroyed what was its greatest acomplishment! rear drive only! no more RB26, but a frigin 3.5L SOHC frigin VQ POS!!! And it only makes like 290 hp. thats like 30 hp less than what the R34 engine supposedly made. and I believe it. about the only thing I like about it is the swich to the new FM platform. but when the new GT-R comes out all I've got to say is it better have a twin cam 6, it better have a twin turbo, It better make at least! AT LEAST!!! 350 hp if not more. and please! PLEASE!!! bring back the four wheel drive. Untill then I'll stick with the R32/R33/R34. you can get one in america through MotoRex. they import it, do the neccesairy mods for certification, and they'l even put enough mods on it for up to 500 hp.

I'd just like to point out that the majority of Skylines are rear wheel drive.
Technicly speaking ALL of them are, but when the rear wheels lose traction on GT-R's and GTS-4's, the front wheels start pulling - unlike AWD vehicles like Impreza's EVO's etc.

290 hp out of an NA engine is not bad at all. The R32, R33 and R34 GT-R's are all 280 hp (with restrictors on) and they are all twin turbo... (take the restrictor off an R32 GT-R and it will bounce from 280 hp - 330 hp).

And Skylines have not used the RB engines forever - the first Skylines used a different one.

Well the truth is most Skylines havent used RB engines, They were only introduced in R31-R34 and skylines has been around since 1955.

IRT mustang man: boy you really choped that one up. weather or not GT-R's run four wheel drive all the time they still have the ability to use the front wheels for pulling when benificial. the V35 as of yet dosent. and what I said was that 290 hp for a 3.5 liter is sucky. thats 82 hp per liter by the way. the RB makes its 280 hp from only 2.6 liters, with a restrictor as you call it. thats 107 hp per liter. lose the ristrictor and you free up 330 hp. thats 126 hp per liter. The RB is a superior engine to the VQ in both build, and realized performance. admit it and mourn the loss. :guilty:

The V35 does come out with 4WD...

Here let me show you:
V35 Skyline 250GT Four
It's in Japanese, but you can clearly see in the specs that it's 4WD. Been on sale since March 2001 in Japan.

I believe you're comparing the *RB26DETT* to the VQ35DE... which isn't a fair comparison. The RB26DETT was, as you probably already know (or not), built specifically to win Gropu A Touring Car Championships, primarily in Japan, also in Australia (and NZ?). It was based on the RB series engines, but built without any normal restrictions that are usually endowed upon mass produced cars (ie: cylinder head design, materials used, fuel economy etc)

The VQ35DE on the other hand IS an engine that powers more than one model in the current Nissan range (Skyline, Fairlady Z/350Z, Teanna/Maxima, Elgrand etc) and has to be designed to work well in all those applications. Comparing the VQ35DE to the RB26DETT is unfair. The VQ35DE is an excellent engine, and as Mustang-man pointed out, it produces plenty of power for a medium capacity V6.

A fairer comparison would be the RB25DET and the VQ35DE.

I think.. :odd:

There are a lot a Maxima's around here which sort of look like the new Skyline, but this one was a dark red/maroony colour, had the narrow headlights and yukky back lights (looked in rearvision mirror, as i was driving at 100km/h).

I've seen a lot of Maxima's that look like the G35 but I dont think that they will be released in New Zealand or Australia for another few years. I do however doubt that someone would have imported a G35 to New Zealand.

If someone has they money why not?

Nope, its a redesign, and no one has seen it yet, any "test" cars seen around have been sporting G35 sport coupe shells.

I disagree with this now. Road & Track reported on the new GT-R and showed pics of it. It looks somewhat exactly like the old Skyline shown GT Concept, but redesigned a bit. Looks ok now.

I read R&T and thats an old issue, the newest pics are on the cover of sport compact car and its still just a G35 test mule, if you notice the caption next to the R&T pic you know that it's just an artists rendition

Redirect your link. There is no link to make that picture bigger.

Of course, an Artist's rendition. But, remember, US isn't getting a Skyline GT-R. We're getting just a Nissan called GT-R. And, that's just a test mule as well which means, it isn't the official design. The design could change anytime in the next 2 years.

were getting an infiniti GTR, no ones is getting a skyline GTR not even Japan. Infact they might get the infiniti name too because nissan wants to compete with lexus in japan. The GTR is expected to look similar to that mule except the front and rear will be redesigned.

Actually, I'm suprised that no one has imported a Japanese spec G35 to Australia yet. It's already right hand drive so it just has to comply with Aus safety regulations.

Yeah, but with our new SEVS laws thats not easy. Nissan is suppose to be selling them in Australia in the future anyway.

Nissan is. Not Infiniti. They'll be giving us the Skyline 350GT. Nissan is expected to give us the GTR. 👍
