A buddy of mine has a 160gb Slim. His freezes at Brands Hatch in the same turn during Career & Arcade mode. He can't get out of Novice because of this. He's even exchanged the disc (Best Buy).

This is his Brands Hatch!!!View attachment 93461

Tell him to delete all game data (Make sure he does not delete save data).
That is corrupted textures or something on that track is causing the GPU to artifact.

Next thing will happen is overheating, and then, your PS3 will die. I recommend you to open it and change the thermal compound. But first, use the recovery system, that maybe works. I never had problem with artifacts or loading games, like you, but I think this is a just a signal that your PS3 needs attention.. ASAP.

GT6 online killed my PS3 fat (SSD) tonight. (as soon as I pressed on the exit room button, shutdown)

I opened it up to salvage my GT6 disc, but I couldn't revive the YLOD. I am donating the unit to anyone that wants to fix (repaste/reball) it, getting a used PS3Slim tomorrow.

If any game will kill your PS3 it will be either GT5 or GT6 since they push the console to its very limit.

GT5 prologue killed my first PS3 Fat
GT6 killed my refurbished (Sony repaired) PS3 Fat with a cool SSD in it.

I played Rockband a lot with family inbetween , no issues.

I'll just put the SSD with my existing data into a new used PS3 slim tomorrow.

I must go to main menu and wait a few seconds before leave the game, otherwise, I got 3 bips and my ps3 reboot.
All my other games run smoothly.

Mine does this as well, almost every time I play GT6.

To the OP and others: Do not disregard your PS3 telling you to restore the file system. After a recent crash that forced me to do a hard restart, my HDD was corrupted in an endless cycle of "corrupted file system" - at 100%, it would black screen and not reset. I lost all of my data, not for just GT6 but everything on my entire HDD. Do yourselves a favor, anyone having issues, and backup your saves & media often as you never know when this will happen.

For reference, I have the first Fat 80GB PS3 that wasn't equipped with backwards-compat. Currently running a 500GB WD 5400RPM.
