was doing the Super Car Cup with a not so super car and it was going smoothly until I hit infineon raceway

there's this pesky little Tommy Kaira ZZII that appears EVERY SINGLE TIME i do Infineon Raceway. I'm using a 90's supra tuned to 650ps or so, fully lightened, dialed in suspension and dialed in transmission for that track. basically, tuned as much as i'm allowed to...body has been refreshed, roll cage, everything. the limitations are 500+ps and normal or sports tires...no racing slicks allowed.

using either soft sport tires or normal sport tires are more or less the same.
the first lap i get about 1 second on the TK ZZII, and put a good 5-6 seconds in by the middle of lap 5 or so. By the end of lap 6, my tires are red i'm slipping and sliding everywhere, can't pit in for new tires, and the ZZII ends up beating me by less than half a second. i don't get it...doesn't the ZZII have to abide by tire wear rules too???

it took me 8 races to finally beat that dude...i tried exiting, doing other stuff and revisitng that race, but he's always there :(

i guess i coulda used a different car, but i didn't want to go through the hassle of putting together another car...i tried unleashing the Option Stream Z on its ass but alas, that car isn't allowed in that particular race lol

Not yet played gt4, but the ZZII is a much lighter car than even a lightened Supra and with the amount of power you are putting down, his tyre wear would be significantly less.

Lighter weight and less power, much less of a strain on the tyres.

Just my opinion, but it may help to explain.

Woah! How nice is that! A challenge in a Gt game! NIce!!!

Assuming you were using a non race car Supra, the ZZ II greatest advantage was probably downforce.

Also, the ZZII is 4WD. That'll help tire wear.

i used my 800HP R34 GTR N1 in that race

totally killed it

Could be the Supra still suffers the traction issues it had in the GT3... which completely killed the car. Also, teh downforce of the ZZII combined with AWD makes it a powerful opponent

I almost always found any 4WD car in GT3 ruined by excessive understeer. The only exception was the ZZII which handles much like a RWD car when the VCD is set at 10%.

well considering the front wheels are doing some of the driving doesnt that seem like an obvious conclusion. a bit of tuning and the right sort of driving overcomes the problem however. there really is nothing quite like a 4 wheel drift in a lanevo getting yourself totally sideways through a corner :)

With enough tuning I found I could make nearly any 4WD car handle like a rear-wheel drive car in GT3--just took a lot of tuning and testing. :guilty:

I've found my driving style is the problem with AWD cars... I tend to drive MR cars the most... and they are far more nimble... that, and gas doesn't really induce understeer... usually just reduces oversteer...

also, in gt2 and gt3, tuned stock cars SUCKED BIG TIME! if you put a little gt300 car, like a race mr2 you should be able to kill that race... unless, of course stock cars don´t suck anymore... and that´s what i hope...

The zz11 is my dream car, gtr running gear in a true super car what could be better!

I think all of you are missing something crucial here.

What is the point of driving a 4wd like a rwd? If you want a rwd....drive one.
4wd and rwd are meant for two different things, and many people set up a 4wd car so it will drive like a rwd car. You shouldn't. Setting 4wd that way only tries to compensate for a drivers inablility to drive a 4wd the way it was MEANT to be driven.
Don't change the car, change yourself. THEN change the car to compliment you. But drive the 4wd like it's meant to be driven, not like a crappy rwd knockoff.

I took my Saleen S7 into that race. I hadn't set it up properly so the race was very close but I held off the ZZII and claimed victory.

If is a stock car. then you have no choice but to adapt same as real world.

If is modified (suspension or drive train) is a definite you adjust to suit you to enter a corner and exit as fast as possible.

So, If Williams started with the walrus nose in 2004 than they have to stick to it and make their driver to adapt? The Driver would say we need to have new upgrades to compensate the speed lost...

Nothing wrong with rwd buddy

Even without looking at each car's weight and such, if he was running a second or so slower per lap, well he'd be wearing his tires less wouldn't he? AI has always been a bugger like that... very good at saving tires and running medium laps then turning on the booster rockets for the last lap.

yeh i thought it was a boss mustang and i got all excited for nothing dang

It took you 8 tries to finish 1st in that race? Do you think that's much? Huh :dunce:

He's not saying there is a problem with RWD; just that if you are driving a 4WD, why are you expecting it to handle like a RWD? Sure, you can tune it to handle like one, but why not drive the 4WD with the advantages/disadvantages that 4WD will offer you?

It said "Boss Car", so I was expecting to hear about how he used his Vorpal Sword to fell the Great Kongdor of Zabanatha and was rewarded with the Horn of Balda'a +5 as a reward.

:)

I find it interesting, and slightly annoying that certain races STILL feature a particular car that you have to beat..you know, one that is a lot faster than all the rest and a pain in the ass to beat. No matter how many times you do the race it is always there...

Maybe It'd be more like Optimus Prime, Driving around then just as your about to finish first steps on you instant game over.

OK.. lets think about this logically....

If your tires are red it means they are wearing out early..

SO..

SInce you are already faster the way you are.. just get some harder tires like slicks or super slicks so they last the whole race..

Since there arent many places you need "uber grip" on that race.. you should still win with power..

just run harder tires. they might slow u donw 1-2 seconds, but if your 5-8 seconds faster per lap then that wont hurt you at all, and your tires will last till the end (and prob way further).

has it been proven that the AI cars suffer from any sort of wear? if its like GT3 then i doubt they do!

can someone compare the lap times to confirm they get slower as a long race goes on?

are you saying there are different cars in each race during a championship?!
