Or at least Firefox does...

Every time I click onto Google, MSN or Lastminute.com, I get the Japanese versions of the sites (redirecting to google.co.jp, msn.co.jp and lastminute.co.jp). Nothing I do will get me to the .co.uk or .com versions of those sites.

What in the name of gravy is going on here?

I've had that happen to me while using a proxy server to access the Internet. I would only get the German version of google.

Make sure you're not typing googer or rastminute.com. :D

Where are you trying use the internet from?

My chair.

More helpfully, the same computer I've used for the last three years (albeit in slightly tweaked varieties) and the same ISP I've used for the last two, behind StealthNetWall that I've used for 18 months. This is a very recent issue and I've not changed anything...

Whoa, you mean Famine is asking for help? This must be a test to prove our competence?

Have you checked any settings in FireFox to make sure some language setting or something hasn't been changed anywhere by any spyware?

Whois your IP and see what IP Location you get. Have you tried the Google link I supplied above?

Returns as Leeds (which it probably should do, though it's nowhere near me).

The other Google link just masks the problem, rather than fixes it. It's not a massive issue because I can read Japanese okay-ish.

Ebiggs - No spyware. Nu-uh.

Hmm, this is very odd, have you tried google south africa?

They speak English there!

I know you'll probably have done this already, and you'll think I'm some thick knucklehead, but have you tried clearing your cache and cookies?

On a similar note, I had a 12y/o change my start page to elgoog. Silly boy!

I'd suggest backing up your bookmarks and extensions then re-installing Firefox. You should download the beta version for Firefox 2 ~ 2.0b1, I've had zero problems with it. 👍

But I honestly doubt it's Firefox itself that has the problem, it might be a setting in Windows.

This happened to me for a while. It would keep redirecting me to the Japanese MSN.

I just reversed the setting on IE to default. I clicked the "restore default" button on Internet Options, and it was gone.

Gah!

It's doing it in the GTP galleries now as well!

Well here are a few suggestions:

A. If it is really bothering you just back up all of your personal stuff and reinstall XP or whatever version of windows you have.

B. Just get rid of Windows forever or dual boot with Linux. A good distro for new users would be Ubuntu or if you are a bit used to Linux try something like Fedora or Slax. I personally a bunch of different Distros on a bunch of my computers. (Yes I have a collections of computers.)

For anyone that cares. 4 laptops and 3 1/2 desktops. The laptops are the most recents purchases and better than the desktops. The desktops I plan on turing them into servers for my personal site. :D

*EDIT*

Make that 5 laptops. They all do work and were bought new not hand me downs....except for one.
