Hey guys, so the last ten days I was touring Italy in my car (I might do a video about all I saw), and in Maranello I tried the F1 simulator and did a lap around...you guessed it, the Nordschleife. One go costs 25 Euros and lasts 7 minutes, more than enough to go around the Nordschleife with this car
. Bear in mind this was my first and only try. For that, I didn't do too bad.
The simulator runs on the Asseto Corsa software/game and is absolutely amazing! The F1 cockpit and the steering wheel seems to be a 1:1 recreation of the real thing and the cockpit is being moved by a hydraulic system to simulate acceleration, braking and body roll/movement of the car. When you brake or go very quickly into a corner, the seatbelts move/"pull" you into the car, to simulate the G-forces=nice!
So on the wheel itself you can adjust with a little switch the difficulty of the simulation. 1. grade=TCS on, automatic gear shifting, 2. grade=TCS on, manual gear shifting, 3. grade=forgot haha, 4. grade=TCS off and manual gear shifting. I did change from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 in a span of about 3 minutes. I gotta say it was less difficult, than I imagined it to be and was just super, super fun and engaging! I forgot to push the DRS button though haha! That would have given me some more speed on the straights, especially the last long one, oh well...
It is absolutely worth having a go at this thing, if you should ever visit the museum!
