yes, my PS3 reboots about 3/4 of the times i try to quit SCC

its a pain, and it is a worry re: harming the PS3 :nervous:

Weird. I've thought about this, I've checked it: I don't believe my PS3 has ever done this with SCC.

I normally don't spend much time in the GT5 section. The game always seemed so far away and I thought it was pointless so read through hundreds of new posts every day, the majority of which appeared to be endless bashing (of each other or their opinions) and intricate arguments over minute details, few, if any, knew for certain. So until recently, I confined myself to lurking there once or twice a week just to stay abreast of anything new, but didn't actively participate in the forums.

However, since Gamescom started, I've been spending a lot more time in the GT5 area and I'm as excited as anybody else about it's features and that we'll finally be able to play it in less than 3 months. As most of you know, I've been drooling at the prospect of hosting an online endurance race from Le Mans using classic 1960s cars. 👍

But one thing I've found very curious are the things people in the GT section have been getting so excited about. Some things such as:

- Private lobbies.

- 16 player online mode.

- Great tracks such as Monza and possibly Spa.

- Working headlights.

- Realistic rain effects.

- Working windshield wipers.

- Great cars such as the Ferrari 330 P4 or Pagani Zonda.

- White Flags (blue flags, yellow flags)

- Realistic and life like physics.

- Skid marks.

And it struck me as somewhat ironic that Supercar Challenge, a game we've been playing for nearly a year, has ALL of these features and more. It's here now. It's been here. And the game can be had for <30 EUR. But instead of flocking to this game (at least while waiting for GT5 to be released), it's ignored or dismissed by the vast majority of GT fans and PS3 sim racers. And those of us who (still) play Supercar Challenge are operating in almost cult-like status. Why?

There's no doubt that when it comes to visuals, SCC can't hold a candle to GT--the graphics, while hardly terrible, appear to be last generation. And the game did and continues to suffer from a number of bugs and quirks. But it's almost to be expected coming from a small developer. Yet I can't understand how these same people who won't give SCC a second look, will sit there and write ridiculous and drooling posts over a simple white flag in GT. (Yeah, we've got that). If I could record the sound of the Zonda out of Supercar Challenge and post it in the GT5 section, I can almost guarantee that people would be going through the roof, praising their love to Kaz for creating such wonderful sounding cars.

I think Supercar Challenge may go down as the greatest PS3 sim racer...that most people never even heard of. I have little doubt that I won't be playing SCC much once GT5 is released. But I'm curious and slightly bemused that so few people picked it up while waiting for GT. Is our opinion of this game just too high? Or are GT devotees so blinded by their love of anything from PD that they won't give other sim racers a chance? I wonder.

i couldn't agree more .

and if im honest i haven't got that excited about gt5 at all. recently i have also been checking the game and its contents and it is a purchase for sure, but as good as it looks it has to feel right and gtp never gave me that . if they could make the feel of the cars any thing like scc i might never buy another game again .
im sure the ffb will be better (i hope ) in gt5 than gtp

scc is what it says on the cover a "challenge" (for me anyway)

im more interested in the upcoming f1 game .(just get a feeling codemasters may let me down)

I couldn't agree with You more JJ,just now I convinced two of my friends, hardcore simracing fans(M1guel5 and Lobomau-Portuguese Flags, both wheelers-DFGT&g25), to buy SCC for 14,95 Euros:crazy: in a promotion sale in mediamarket, while they wait for GT5 release...they're both loving it-and doing pretty good at it,btw:scared: )
I guess the lack of marketing doomed SCC from the start,to have a racing game(or any other as a matter of fact) make huge sales You have to invest a considerably high amount of money promoting it,make people droll with videos and wondering how great it will be for a couple of months...even if You don't deliver what You've promised(e.g. Shift,Forza, etc)!
If a large number of players buy it,some will like it and keep playing it for months...and that also happened with SCC(we're the proof of that I guess)only in a very tinny little scale due to it's poor sales from the beginning...how can a game be successful without a N.A release?!Even FC was more popular due to the N.A players and SCC is obviously better(just a upgrade from the first delivery,in fact)...
Funny(or not)thing though is that if You made that post in the GT5 section I'm sure You would be flamed:) by people who read some bad reviews,or played the game for a couple of hours, thought it was too difficult(=the physics are crap because I'm such an ace,and if the physics didn't sucked I wouldn't be going off track so often:ouch::indiff::sly: ) and traded it for Killzone II or LittleBigplanet-and yes I know a couple of this cases:lol:

This is an aspect where SCC completely slams GT5(at least Prologue let's see 'bout the Real Thing-don't have my expectations to high though- even after a several months playing the game I can't help myself to be impressed with the sound in SCC-take the F40,for instance, or more recently the F430 Challenge, while making a few laps in Henrik's combo:) - and this is an aspect in which GT5P clearly doesn't excel...:indiff:

When I heard GT5 will have the P4 and Monza SCC came immediately to my mind, too :sly:.

SCC has 16 cars online on all tracks - we don't know about GT5 yet.

The track selection of SCC is great and we'll have to see if GT5 has the same amount of great race tracks. Of course the tracks are more accurate in GT5 and SCC is missing the Nordschleife.

SCC even has a nice gimmick: You can shake your fist.

If I could record the sound of the Zonda out of Supercar Challenge and post it in the GT5 section
Just do it .

Make a deal with alba who's trying to get a direct sound capture at Gamescom today ;).

HA HA! A rhetorical question obviously! ;)

The amount of time spent in the GT5 forums dissecting every known (& unknown) detail of GT5 is simply mind-boggling. It's now been almost 2 years since I suggested that GT enthusiasts might want to consider taking a look at FC, because GT5 would likely still be a few months off  - quite obviously very few did! I think there are a number of GTPlanet sim-racers who abandoned GT5P for PC racing, which is fair enough, but I still have friends on my PS3 network who I know have NEVER played anything but GT5P.

It has to be said that the one area (other than graphics) where SCC really falls down is the offline AI - that's enough to put off any SCC newcomer!

What I worry about, is that GT5 will excel in every area except the FFB - which we have come to know & love in FC/SCC - which will leave the driving experience somewhat flat in spite of all the other bells & whistles...

i just went bCK TO PC GAMİNG.sell my ps3 and make a good rig..in first days i always play gtr2, later got gtr evo and that was suchh damn good..

then i miss my SCC and boot it..then the decision for my selling ps3 is appear..the FPS issue, the horrible graphics ( i mean really horrible, the crispsy of pc gaming was a big plus )

i didnot say anything about the physics, they are perfect almost, even better some pc games..playing gtr evo of gtr2 is easier than playing SCC..and the modding in pc is the best part, you can have lots of tracks and car..

and now i am waiting os ACR :))

Do it!!! DO IT!!! DOOOOO IT!!!!:D

 You guys really want to get me banned! As much as I'm tempted, it IS against the AUP and I doubt the mods would find it nearly as funny as we would. :)

I have to tell you hozes, I already made the decision that if GT5 does NOT live up to my expectations, I'm going to buy a PC just for gaming and switch over to PC sims. I have a Mac Pro (very powerful) but it's upstairs in my home office and I want something dedicated for games that I can hook up to my G27/playseat/HD TV and surround sound system in the basement. The setup is already there. I'm afraid, as Biggles says, that the 'feeling' of driving in GT5 is going to be a bit sterile and leave me somewhat disappointed. And I'm tired of entering public lobbies with racing games on the PS3 (even with SCC and it's better than most) and racing against people who have NO respect for other drivers. They just crash, smash and bully their way to the top, heedless of who else they're pushing out of the way to get there. And they're not all kids. Just people with a different mentality and idea of online racing than I've grown accustomed to in my private lobby events, where we pride ourselves on no-contact racing. Or at least, that's the goal.

We'll see what happens.

Brand loyalty. A friend of mine is a big GT fan; always emailing me on the latest GT5 news and things. But he barely even uses his PS3, never mind GT. He's not even big into racing. When I was complaining about general GT5P/demo problems such as throttle etc, and why SCC is better in some ways, he just wouldn't have it - he wouldn't accept that GT could have any deficiencies.

I think big GT fans moving to another game tend to be put off because their mind still wants and expects GT physics/experience, and when the other game inevitably does not provide this, they give it up.

Great post jjaisli. I think most of the GT devotees aren't even big race fans. They just follow the hype. People who play, and keep playing (games like) SCC, are the real race fans. At least, that's what I think. Yes, they will buy GT5 too, but I am pretty sure It won't give you that smile on your face blasting through eau rouge which you get with scc (Spa might not even be included). I dare to say, GT5's majority of players will be arcade style teenagers. No offense. The 10% that goes for the real simulation, are also people you meet here. Just my 2 cents.

PS Wow, playing SSV8NC after SCC let's you know that SCC is very hard, but when you master It, you can race anything.

My take on it is this: boys (in general) like cars. They also like realistic graphics in a video game. GT has always provided a great selection of realistic-looking cars. In fact, presumably because it's a lot easier to model a realistic-looking car than a realistic-looking human-being (!) in a video game, GT offers the most realistic-looking video game out there (as long as they leave out the wooden-looking "spectators").

GT4 & GT5P are both good games, but IMO the only thing they really excel at, is providing very high quality replay visuals (& in the case of GT4, a whole mess 'o game play "quantity"). Compared to GT4, Enthusia provided a better driving experience, & Forza 1 a better racing experience (compromised by the fact that it didn't offer Logitech wheel support). Compared to GT5P, FC & SCC, & F1CE offer a better racing experience IMO.
