I mean these guys did it.

Anyways, I overtook this guy while we were drift battling without bumping into him, he had a Viper SRT10 with a V10 engine, and I had a S2000 with a little V4, we were using comfort hard tires. He said I lost, eh, well whatever.

This clip is from a random tandem session of team burst not from a battle. If you read the info you could read something like this ''about the only time an overtake in drift is cool''
Get over it and stop making senseless new threads. Overtaking isn't a win in drift competitions but keeping close while holding a good line and angle is. That's it

S2000 with a little V4

Sorry but :banghead:

Drifting is not racing, you're judged on your angle and how well you can follow the driver in the lead not on how well you overtake while drifting. Also it you want to make your point valid in an argument, your evidence has to support your argument which means you have to understand what the content of the evidence is before you present it. Your videos don't prove what you are saying is correct pointing to the flaw in your argument is that you don't understand how drift competitions are judged.

Basically you are arguing a point of view that cannot be supported by evidence because your viewpoint is based on a incorrect assumption.

So this is another one of those kids who thinks he's gods gift at drifting...

To be honest I think every member of the GT5 drifting section should bow down to his awesomeness ;)

 👍

I've merged all three threads into one, since it seems to be about whether or not one should pass in drifting events, even if it's only tenuously hanging onto that topic.

I was wondering what government would give the ok to hold such an event on public roads with people standing so close and sometimes on the road not to mention the insurance cost. Then I noticed it was in Greece.....

Also looks as if nothing has change in the drifting sub forum. Same BS, different day.

Gee man, from all the BS you read in this thread THAT was what you noticed ???

Overtaking in a drift event has always been like getting 21 in Black Jack. It's more or less an automatic win. If you can pass someone, either they really screwed up or you have vastly superior skill. Either way, it's a win.

Passing is extremely rare between two great drivers though, especially on a 2- or 3-corner competition like most pro drift competitions. The closest you'll see in D1 most of the time, for example, is for the trailing car to pull up nose-to-nose with the lead car at the corner's exit, but usually have to back off before the next corner. Even that pretty much guarantees a win unless the technique was really sloppy.

The only time passing is actively discouraged is with those stupid outside apexes that have become popular in recent years, and that's on a per-corner basis.

This thread shows everything wrong with GT5 Drifters..

Chill bro, this kid is new so he doesn't know the rules of the forum. So, cut him some slack.

Dude, that Team Orange video is Touge or something, Team Burst was drifting, & plus they're an aggressive team when it comes to drifting.

I agree with everybody else though, this is a pointless thread.

high speed ring is an example of that. if you transition just right you can pass on the outside of that S-turn without touching the grass.

but to the op if you wanted to show an example of passing during drifting you shouldve shown this vid

@E dub..I was talking about all the Bulling..The "come at me's"" I'm better", nonsense that fills the Drift Section..People acting like 10 year old kids trying to out Pee each other..No other section on GTplanet acts this way..Many people in here do not follow the forum rules..Constant trolling from teams, people just acting like street gangs..All of these examples can be found in this thread..So I'm cool and I'm chilled, thanks..I don't blame the OP..

And yes sir there nice people who Drift.. Some have posted in this thread..Put the Egos aside and you'll have a better slide..

Thanks,playnthru

@Playnthru You said

You're pretty much talking about all drifters because you're not specific enough, & you said "DRIFTERS." You should have said somebody's name or something.

Drift for fun X Drift for challenge

Who drift for fun dont care too much about top performance, dont sacrifice angle for better speed, are more dinamic about what lines should take in the track (terminal outsider drift can be pretty too), and dont give importance for competitions. The main goal of this kind of drifter when following in the tandem is get closer as possible, independent of the line taken... and barely never overtake.

For who drift for the challenge, they see the pratice in a way more agressive. They like to compete, like to win and pwn the others. They follow the racing line for drifting and overtake everytime possible. They even use grip techniques and quit the drift for a better catch-up. And their overtakes are not as clean as it should.

Challenger drifters when in front think:
- Start slow for a better align? Screw this, i want him away from me.
- Hes doing door 2 door on me? Im nervous! I must decrease the angle and leave him away!
