Very true the 10sec rule may be "stupid" as some of you put it, but yet I bet the same people who say that will complain about cheating if it isnt put in place... Sometimes it may not be totally realistic but it will hopefully be affective, just like in real life if you hit someone from behind for driving real close you cause an accident and get a ticket or whatever and your insurance goes up  well in the world of GT (the game) you get a time penatly, It will deff prevent people from hitting of walls or you for that matter to get in the lead, Again I belive it should vary the harder you hit the more time it puts on, if you slightly hit something you get no time added on, makes sense... Again I know there trying to make it realistic but thats the system they wanted and if you want realistic go race in real life.. Im all for the 10sec rule because hey I'll admitt that I bounce sometimes of the wall heck who doesnt but will this teach me a lesson of course, its all about getting people to race the right way so when you do go online you wont be driving like a mad man....

....But....

The only thing Im worried about with this type of system is if someone purposly stops in front of you for no reason causeing you to ram them, even thought true like in real life you should always keep an eye on everything but I see a huge threat with this, will it happen as much as bouncing off walls I dont think so but it still might be a problem.... but eh oh well all I know is I'll be online and be racing the best I could with or without the whole penalty system...

First of all let me say I am "Pro-Panelty, Anti-WCD". What is "WCD" you ask? Well,"WCD" is "Wall riding/Corner cutting/Demolition racing". I think 10 sec is nothing.

If I am doing the panelty system, I would make it a drive thru (first offense) & 10sec in the pit panelty(second offense) and DNF (third offense). "Black Flags" will be given to players with an average of 1 panelty per lap raced and it will be attached to the players account "NEXT TO THEIR NAME" so legit players can avoid them and they can stick to their "KIND". Race can then be setup to screen out those people.

A redemption system will be in place for player who wants to crossover from the "Dark Side". Where they will have to show commitment by not getting 3 addition Black Flags in the next 100 races. Since those player will already have so many black flags attached to them and they can only play with WCD players. They will then feel the pain of all legit players! :trouble:

In addition, credits you get from races will be deducted every time you bang into something or going off track

BTW, There are a lot of players that doesn't "wall bounce/ride". That is just a lame excuse by saying that "everyone cheats a little".

I'm not saying the penalty is a bad thing, it may be unrealistic BUT if GT4 has mechanical damage then you won't see people wall riding and smashing into other cars anyway because it wiill screw up your car, that is much better than having a 10 second penalty.

It's being included in GT4 too but it's not been confirmed weather it will be the same penalty or not, KY has said he would lik to add varying penalties depending on race difficulty.

Here is a special question that recently crossed my mind, and let's change the flow of the topic for a moment. I noted that physcial damage would be a big NO from car manufacturers, so what about som cosmetic "damage," such as real dirt and mud on your shiny car when you screw up? I'm not going to mention big splatters because I'm not like that. But, what about cosmetic stuff like dirt and mud? And to really think about this, think about what the rally cars go through in real life.

Random failures would piss people off - I still remember epicly leading a race at Monaco only to suddenly stop with 2 laps left with 'Engine Failure' for no reason. It's happened 3 laps INTO a race in the same F1 game as well. I went and turned such failures off pretty fast.

You don't get a fuel gauge in a lot of racing cars, you have to rely on your knowledge of consumption and your team, so a light will have to do and you'll just have to get used to the usage levels and plan your race accordingly. That should be about the only criteria for DNFing.

The penalty system should stay, I don't think damage will make it. It's yet more stuff to implement, I think the penalty system is their way of doing it in a lot less code. Yes, if truly realistic we could damage each and every component of our car but you're going to suck the fun out of things pretty quickly. CMR 04 had a pretty detailed damage model from what I hear, but to implement that for however many hundred cars they produce?

Engines do currently wear down - my prize Formula 1 car has now lost 2% of it's engine power as a result. I'm not pleased - if you can replace these parts, fine, but permanently screwing me out of performance is not appreciated.
