I have been fuming abit about the IA driving missions. The IB missions went by pretty easily but I have yet to even come close to doing well on anything after. Is anyone else loving to hate these too? I just got to know cause either I suck or they just made these to dang impossible.

I can't even get close to the car in 5th place in IA 1. this is stupid.

I am talking about the mission hall. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought. The license I got through Ok but Im just dissapointed that I wont be able to complete that game fully cause the skill required to do the IA missions are beyond be by too much.

yeah the skyline one is the only one i couldnt get, anyone know how to do that?

I figure you must have to use the other cars and travel to help each other catch up to the leader--sort of like they do in the Tour de France--because a pack can travel faster than just one. It's a matter of taking turns drafting each other.

But the problem is the other cars seem to brake in the curves, no one steps up to the plate and by the time they're out of the turn, they're too far back to draft me and I end up just hugging the inside edge to gain distance.

The closest I've gotten is just under 3 sec behind almost within drafting range--if I had another 1/4 lap I could have caught up :(.

There's an entire thread on this in the GT4 forum, but the strategy is pass on the corners then let them draft you on the straights, then pass in the corners...leapfrogging until you've caught up to the leader, the pass draft him and reflect on how nice those 250 A-spec points will look in your game status.

Thanks, I'll check it out. My problem is in order for them to draft me (or vice verse?) on the straights, I have to slow down. It seems counterintuitive to me--oh, well :).

After several attempts at leapfroging or taking the shortest route possible I found that top speed down the straight was still no higher than 163 mph in the clear.

As this is all the car can mange through the corners, I took to pushing another car around the whole lap.

Still only 163 in the bends but you can reach a constant 172 on the straight. Then cut tight on the final bend and slip to the outside to draft past the final car over then line.

Done it by over a second. 👍

I did win the skyline, but I'm stuck on mission 11 already with the "real" racing missions. Practically impossible to get near the 1st car, I did finish 2 seconds behind him once, but that's the closest I got.

I'm stuck in the last mission.
It's really frustrating, I can't even reach the 5th place.
All other 33 missions I cleared with no major complications, but this one is REALLY hard. Any suggestions or I will have to practice until I reach perfection?

The Mission with the Ford GT at Laguna Seca is next to impossible. I put in as perfect a lap as I could and was still 2 or 3 seconds b ehind.

I also dont have a wheel yet so that could be a factor.

Practice people. Just do it again and again. It took me 3 days to finish number 34. Finally I have 100% completion and can get on with my life. haha. Anyways...

mission 18. Save time by cutting through the sand at the very first corner. To drive the corner properly you need to drop to 2nd gear. By cutting through the sand you can be in 3rd or 4th. I ended up beater the Sauber by 7 seconds this way.

The Seattle mission with the Superbird and Mission 11 in New York are similar. You need to brake early and maintain throttle control through the corners. If you don't you start to slide. Your tires break grip and your RPM drop too low.

For the Skyline mission. Pass everyone on the inside on the first corner. Shift into 6th gear and stay there! Look behind you alot to be sure you are in front of the car at the front of the pack. They will eventually catch up to you if you can give them the slipstream.

You don't need a wheel you just need to practice. Also, don't brake hard and lock up your wheels. You need brake control as well as throttle control. Have fun!
