I have a couple icon Questions...

1. Can I make My own Icons with Photoshop, or will I have to get another program?
2. Where can I find that cool Mozilla "FirePhoenix" Icon?
3. When I have shortcuts on the desktop, can I get rid of that little white arrow on the Icon?
4. Does anyone have some cool My conputer, Recycle Bin, etc Icons?
 
I'm pretty sure you can make an icon in Photoshop as long as you have a program to convert it to a .ico file.

And I guess look around on mozilla.com for the icon you want. I'm sure its on there.
 
Well, you can get a set of .PNG Mozilla FirePheonix icons from Wincustomize.com, but you'll need a program to convert them to .ICO.

Photoshop will not be able to save files as .ICO, which is what you want for Icons. You'll need an Icon Editing program.
 
Does anyone know how to get rid of the white arrows on shortcuts on the desktop?
 
  1. You probably could, but you wouldn't be able to make an icon that has different sized icons within it. An icon comprises of about 3 different sized icons (16x16, 32x32 and 48x48 I think).

I found some Really cool icons at DevArt that fit my carbonfiber theme, but they're d/ling at .9kb/s! DevArt needs a new server, maybe one that is the caliber of GTPs!

Did you ever stop to think that DeviantART gets about 10x (probably a huge underestimate) the amount of visitors a day than GTP? And did you ever stop to think that all those visitors (at dA) are downloading a lot more than a HTML page and probably an attachment or two?
 
But 0.9kb/s? That's worse than Dial-Up... Thats like 28.8...

As Shannon said the deviantART servers are constantly under a lot of stress from people querying the database constantly asking for images, forum posts, downloads, notes, favourites, news items, web pages, style sheets and a heck of a lot more. You would have to be a complete nut case not to realise how much the servers are under going at anyone time with 7 million + deviations (mostly worthless chicken scratch) it is a heck of a lot to maintain and it isn't like they are rolling in money to fork out on the latest technology although for what we know they could be using the best of the best but who knows?

Heck if you don't like deviantART's service don't use it and don't abuse it.
 
Hey, I love Deviant Art. I have a buch of BGs from there, I was wondering Why pics d/l so fast, but Zipfiles don't...
 
If anyone would watch closely, they'd notice which server they were on in the bottom left hand corner of the Browser window. I've noticed 5 different server names for deviantart. All I have to say is, for 5 servers (4 of them are obviously full, they are filled up by date of submission), they don't do so bad for d/l times. They have atleast 2,000 people on every minute of the day, so it's quite amazing they don't crash more often. I'd say give them props instead of complaining.
 
Whoa! We've got a funny man! No need to get smart and cause problems just because I happen to know more about DVRs than you think I do.

It's not like I'll be taking your job at the DISH Network away from you.
 
I have PS CS, but there is no where I can save it as .ico...
 
i got PhotoShop CS,fully updated and i have that option.i just made two icons for "My Computer" a few nights back you can see in this pic.
