Well im back from a good long time away, been playing a crapload of forza and prior to that a crapload of GT4. And i think right about now (while the consoles are boxed away waiting to goto my new house) the time is right to do a little bit of retrospective thinking.

GT4 "probably" lived up to my realistic expectations, whatever they were after not just months but YEARS of being drip-fed information then discussing it to death. career mode is huge and involving, and as long as you dont take the pi$$ with what cars you use it is quite challenging at times. and for just driving around aimessly it cant be beaten.

Forza "definetly" lived up to expectation. its the first of the series and a certain number of minor bad decisions and non-critical bugs can be accepted. Most people had no idea what the end product would be like and i cant see there being many people dissapointed. everthing in there can be gotten used to without a lot of trouble, and while its may seem a bit lacking compared to a behmoth of a career mode like GT4 it has its own neat tricks to keep you interested.

So the question is which would i put on and play right now? Forza no question. every bit of tuning, painting, learning, on Forza actually means something.

I actually forsaw GT4 not having online play. (the thread should still be around if anyone wants a read) and right now this fact is hurting it. not in sales cause luckly GT4 came out first.. if it had been the other way round i think there wouldhave been trouble. hardly anyone who stared playing forza online would want to go back to an offline game of the same genre, thats a step back.

So anyway this poll is open ONLY to people that have a descent amount of experience with both games. and then only those that have taken advantage of online mode in forza.

I would buy Forza before the next GT, because Forza has its own merits (like Ferraris), and by the time the next GT game comes out, you'll be able to get x-box + forza for like $20, lol! (run-on sentence, eh?)

But for right now, I'm plenty happy with GT4.

I get most enjoyment out of GT4 from trying to beat my own times using cars I have driven or owned on tracks like the Ring or Le Sarthe, online racing doesn't do it for me and if having the ability to paint a car means you would take one game over a reality simulator, then I can see why you would take Forza next time. Do you have neons under your Nova?

GT1 got me addicted to the series, so I gotta stay true to my roots. Overall, i've never been dissappointed with the GT series, unfortuantly, Forza promised so much and in my opinion, didn't delivered as much as it could. The online play and the ability to drive Ferrari's is the only thing makin me want to put it in the ol' XBox.

Mostly, I'd buy both. When I want simulation and real racing, I'll go for the next GT. When I feel ricey and arcadish, I'll go for Forza.

Give me GT.

Your acting like GT5 absolutely, positively WONT have online capabilities.

Also,GT will probably have much of the things Forza has now (and more,of course).I am expecting the AI and Physics engine to be better, and the graphical detail to improve ALOT since we are running a machine that run at more than 5x the power of the PS2.

Bottom Line:

I have tried both games, but only own one.I must say that, with what GT4 offers you,it is a much better game than Forza.

X-box racers - Forza
Ps2 racers - GT4

if you have both, then i dunno. but from the sounds of it forza is just GT4 with ferrari's, a paintshop, online play and arcadey physics. gimme GT4 anyday then, i would get Forza and get very bored of it. wow, a ferrari....big frickin deal

*Non-valid point follows, this user doesn't have Forza*

3 days ago I downloaded Live For Speed S2 demo, and I have used one track, and two cars. And i love it. Why? Online funness. Now to further invalidate my opinions, I admit to not liking Xbox( for no good reason I hasten to add ) and loving Gran Turismo. I bought a playstation so I could play Gran Turismo. I didnt care one bit about online play in GT4, until I played LFS online, and it is just fantastic. I just thought i'd give my two cents. Im sorry if I have aggrevated Madduck with my non-valid babble. Oh and a paintshop would be such a simple addition, surely? And finally, the in car view, it's spectacular. It just makes everything so much more enjoyable. The in car clock even shows the real time. I love that. Ok im spent.

If I get an XB360 I'd buy both, if not I'll buy the next GT since Forza 2 without a machine to play it on would be pointless.

I voted that I'd buy both and BTW, I don't own Forza, but played the demo for a good run and liked it. I want to buy an Xbox with it but money doesn't come down from trees, does it?

I'll give GT5 a chance because they finally seem to put the AI, online and damage issues as top priorities, but there is one thing I dislike from GT that will never change, nevermind the power of the console: the damn bias toward Japanese cars, wich Forza has not. This is actually a big deal for me, even if it can seem stupid to some.

I love Foza!!! It kicks GT4's ass all over the place. It has better cars, better tuning, harder competition, online(GT4 does too via XLINK not that I have it) it has body mods, it has slightly better physics, it has equal graphics, IT HAS DAMAGE, it has a paint shop. AND I DON'T HAVE MY XBOX ANYMORE!!!!! I have to play it at my friends house. But for some reason I don't like doing the career mode as much as I do in GT4. I just like to play around in Forza. Plus GT4 has something Forza will never have as long as it's on XBOX, the Driving Force Pro. God I wish Forza was out for PS2. For that reason I voted GT4. Non true force feedback supporting XBOX b!t(hes!!!!!!!!

Well i was going to buy Forza when i had done with GT4 but i am now totaly addicted and can't put GT4 down. So it now looks like i will not purchase Forza as by the time i have finished with GT4 the next generation consoles will probably be out.

I would (and probably will at some point) get Forza, but the thing stopping me at the moment is that I don't have a steering wheel for the Xbox. Might seem petty, I know, but since getting a DFP and Playseat, I just can't see myself wanting to play racing games any other way.

well my answer to this if they came out at the same time would be Gran turismo - how can you tell which will be the best anyway? we dont know how good the next gen consoles are yet, and most likely FORZA will come out first in which case here most people have both consoles and GT4 and FORZA - and most people will have the Xbox360 & PS3 so they will get both titles again - and as ive said FORZA will most likely come out first

Forza was ok, (I sold mine on EBay and got GT4 back out of the cupboard), but its only advantage over GT4 was the online play. Without online play GT4 in MY opinion wipes the floor with Forza as it's mop!!

Barryl85 how about adding the Ford Capri 2.8i to your otherwise excellent list??

Excellent, i think i might just do that, what do u think of the escort rs turbo??? let me know 👍

mmmm my heart say's Capri............mind you I am an old git and grew up with them!! My first 3 cars were a MK3 Cortina and 2 MK2 Escorts!!

I love both of the games. I love the online aspect of Forza, but the single player of GT is unmatched.

I've got a xbox and a ps2 and I've played both games-don't buy Forza if you don't have xbox live.

PD needs to stepup with GT5.
The PS3 will give them the hardware they need, to make a great looking and sounding game. Still, PD has to listen to the customer a little more. Eye Candy alone, wont last.
They need get GT5 out the door, in a much quicker turnaround for which they did 4, especially with Forza and Toca knocking. The gap is closing for them. Online is an absolute must with 5, IMO.
I have faith they will pull it off, but, time is a definite factor.

GT 5 >>>>>>Forza 2

Why? GT will have damage and online play + 20 on screen cars, the only things Forza has better than GT4

Take Online play out and NOBODY would say Forza is better. Check the thread starter;s poll, he puts Forza with a (onlineplay) next to it. lol take online out and the game blows

I love both for different reasons, and I have never played either online.

I love Forza for drifting, and driving the awesome unknown cars, along with modding them. But the whole Porsche and Ferrari thing is stupid. What's the point if the cars aren't even spot on? I'd rather play PGR2 and actually drive the cars there.

I love GT4 for driving and experiencing tracks. But its old physics engine needs to a kick in the rear to get it up there.

Both are great offline, but have some weaknesses.
