Good info here guys....

3D will use max 720p and sub 720p to ensure framerates match 2D versions
Jaggies will be improved though in AA for 3DTV
Vsync will be applied
Its likely GT5 in 3D will reduce the resolution but implement AA to compensate.

*Motorstorm single level demo confirmed for PSN (Sub 720p with some effects removed @ 30 frames original)
*Wipeout 3D (720p 30 frames compared to 1080p 60 frames for original)

Oh thats GREAT.. If only I could afford 3D TV! I rather see 720p with LESS jaggies over 1080p.

The Wipeout 3d resolution went from 1080p to 720p because the ps3 can't output 2 1080p images at 120Hz.

That is what I mean, PS4 out of box should support 1080p + and 3D Vision, because PS3 can't handle 1080p 3D in games yet.

Gran Turismo games are always delayed, just Remember GT-Portable and GT4.

PD will not release a game until they think this game is truhtly finished, this is how you create perfection and PD has always delivered nothing but perfection.

Perfection? HA! Why do people assume you can take as long as you want to attain the perfect game? To me, the perfect game would be perfect in how it plays AND how long it takes to develop.

Also, NO GT game has been perfect, and no game will ever be.

At the same time though, you cannot rush perfection.
But, very clearly, perfection is an opinion and never a fact, what one considers perfection (patient and careful design) another considers imperfect.

It is not an assumption, merely a common ideal that for a piece of art (or in this case entertainment) to be better quality, it is generally wise to spend more time on it than rush it. Rushing things rarely produces quality, unless the quality you are looking for is in fact a rushed product.

And as perfection is an opinion, a game can be perfect. ;)

Betamax didnt fail because it wasnt good, well technically we know was better than VHS.

You exactly prove my point, Betamax failed because it was pricier than VHS and gave no real benefit over VHS when it came down to everyday use, common sense prevailed. 3D has no real everyday use, therefore justifying 3DTV over a bigger HDTV is difficult, people realise that and in the long run it will become very niche and probably extinct. Why? The two type of media wich can be 3D without substantial increase in production cost is computer generated content, in other word video games and CGI movies, this will be the majority of the 3D content that will be released, those appeal to a younger audience and this audience doesn't have the economic power to keep the 3D industry alive, and once the industry start slowing down I don't see Sony, Samsung, etc. putting R&D money on this technology for long, without mainstream support the content will also slowly disappear. It will go back to the way it was, Imax and CGI movies will be in 3D at the theater only, until they invent some sort of hologram laser display that can fill the room around you or at least a good 6-10 feet in front of you in 3D. Anyway, if 3D had any interest, it would have existed long before, Nvidia's gForce 2 had 3D vision with LCD shutter glasses and it wasn't expensive to buy those and a monitor with at least 90Hz, if a technology doesn't interest computer geeks it will probably never interest a lot of people.

Tell that to the iPad...

What should be noted from this article is that they are retrofitting 3D into existing games, which, at the time were designed to pull as much from the PS3 as they could. It was also done by a 3rd party, not the original Devs. I think there will be better results from games produced with 3D in mind during the development cycle.

I don't think 3D is going anywhere, it will be here to stay, even currently at the premium you pay, it will drop quickly. Just look at the edge-LED sets, last year was their first 'mainstream' year which were top of the line and attracted a premium....this year more than half of some manufacturers lineup are edge-LED TV's (much to my disgust...) and are nearing half the price of what they were at their 2009 launch. 3D will be the same, and as someone else had posted in this thread, it will be standard in all TV's as soon as possible, and the only option the consumer will have will be choosing to watch TV in 2D or 3D.

Nice, half the resolution and half the frame rate for the pleasure of playing in 3D...er, no thanks.

Have you ever played a 3d game or watched a 3d movie? Like it or not, it is the future and Sony knows that consumers want it. Don't judge something before you watch-play it:idea:

Firstly I wont be buying a 3DTV at the current prices particulary with so little material to make enough enjoyment of it. I feel Sony should of had a 24"-32" model available to take advantage of gamers or for studies/bedrooms and at a pricepoint that made it attractive.

What many of you fail to take into account regards 3DTV sales or general uptake is that the TV manufacturers are offering 3DTV on their best performance models.
Panasonics Plasma is a fine example and is rated as the best 3DTV from the 1st generation models. As a TV it offers many picture enchancing features to improve 2D as well. So if a consumer wants more performance they have to buy the 3DTV model even if they have no interest in 3D at all.

As said earlier 3Ds not even out the door yet but some people want to criticise it. Id understand if the general concensous was that it sucked but thing is many people enjoy 3D if its done right. Anyone that buys a 3DTV will be able to play in 2D or 3D so I dont see a problem if they dont like it.

Regards 1080p and PS3 the majority of the games that are 1080p arent FULL HD but only 1280x1080. I bought a 1080p projector just prior to GT5P release and 1080p on consoles is overrated. Whats the point of having a higher resolution if your game and GT5P in particular has terrible jaggies. It totally defeats the purpose of higher resolution in games.
Lets see how proper 3D games designed with 3D from the offset perform. Wipeout didnt have much effort in getting the best performance possible as stated in the article linked.
I very much doubt GT5 will be below 60fps in the 3D Version. I do however believe it will possibly run below 720p native in 3D but maintain the framerate. I could live with that if they apply proper AA as long as the jaggies werent any worse than the 2D version.

Motion control and 3DTV seem to be the future of gaming.
As such 3DTV will be a major factor in changing the gaming industry.
If indeed it takes off within the next 2 years then Microsoft cant sit on their backside. If anything they will have to bring their next console to the market sooner to also get on the 3D bandwagon.

Arnt you happy then that it will suck. Ive concluded your not interested but sure keep on moaning I enjoy reading your posts based on not actually having tried it.

Tell you the truth. I think 3D is fun. I just hope they will use polarized glasses instead of that red/blue ones (i hate those).

And unless its mandatory, I think all features are good.

You would have the same problem with PS4. The devs would use the better hardware, more bandwidth to improve the graphics, textures, post processing, AA for non 3D games. Thus the trade off is still there.

If the PS4 is more powerful than the devs can utilize then they'll have some left for 3D but I doubt Sony will make an overpowered console.

In PC gaming you can use 2 graphic cards to achieve high fps and keep image quality to an extent, but you're still giving away performance as those 2 graphic cards will be able to push higher res, AA, frame rate, tessellation on a game without 3D.

That makes no sense at all. It´s just a rendering of the already 3D content of the game. If the game can handle that on one track it can handle it on any other track. Same counts for the cars.

when i said 3-10 cars i meant per race. I think you are wrong because motorstorm demo will be in 3d not the full version(why?). Adjusting 3d might be tricky

Many people say that people enjoy 3D at the theater, yet noone point out the fact that most household are 10feet+ away from a 50-60 inch screen, how much 3D depth can you achieve in these conditions? Anyway, I'm anxious to see how the future will unfold, will 3D be the next color tv, or will it be like the Wii; like sheeps everyone bought one but never use it and will probably not buy the next one.
