...then couldn't they consider Formula Nippon? There's would only be one chassis to model, and liveries.

Opinions?

And I would imagine that with PD being a Japanese company, it wouldn't be too hard to get the license.

Very nice, I like it. I don't know how hard it is to get licenses but it must be more difficult then it appears.

Must be getting to bed, goodnight.

There are a lot of single seater championships out there that they could look to. I'd be happy to see any of them! Its then just a case of limiting them and keeping single seaters out of races with road cars / closed top race cars

So what is the FGT series then, isn't that a form of formula racing or is that one to hard for you

The FGT is a type of formula race... seems like oldschool V10 era formula 1. But it isnt a licenced race and the car is a standard.

I don't care for open wheel racing in GT5 anyway, they havent got the physics right for it, either that or they just have not spent enough time working on the models to get them to feel right. Both the FGT and the F10 (not driven the F2007) have horrible open wheel physics.

I'll take you seriously i you actually have ever driven any serious single seaters. I havent, but still find the F10 to be strangely reminiscent of serious racing karts that i have driven...
But formula nippon could work... if its not simply the entire FIA saying no. In which case: A1GP. Remember that one? Same idea as F:Nippon, but i think it was set up outside the fia.

I used to race karts and have driven some of the more specific open wheel and F1 simulators, the GT5 F10 is so far from the reality of how it should be driven i just can't enjoy it. Personally i don't think GT5 karts feel like real karts, let alone the F10.

The best F1 sim available for commercial use is Ferrari Virtual Academy, based on the Netkar Pro simulator, second would be the iRacing williams car (which last i drove did not get the brakes right and the grip under throttle seemed a bit off), though iRacing has updated it since i last drove it. Rfactors official BMW Sauber (Also in LFS) is probably the next in line, hardly perfect but still leagues ahead of the Formula cars in GT5.

If your talking how easy the F10 grips, and accelarates without assists, i can see were you're coming from.

Its a V12 (the most horrible sounding one ever) designed by armchair engineers.

No conecpt cars by PD anymore please.

The X2010 is cool (and somehow ridiculous), but it his mainly designed by Red Bull Racing, not like the FGT which says "best F1 car ever", eventhough it uses a V12 and not a V10. And the front wing resembles the old tyrell x-wing alot.

Formula Nippon would be cool, I somehow like the fact that the GT franchise always licensed not so famous race series, the majority of people sadly only knows F1 (or Nascar in US). Driving LMP/Group C/GT/DTM cars ist just so awesome.

the main problem i have with the formula cars is the behaviour of the engine. they simply do not lose revs quickly enough. it makes it difficult to control the throttle as finely as is needed for driving at these speeds. this can lead to either over shooting the the corner or not maximising the speed through the exit.

another thing that i was kind of expecting was the hoping to be included in the fgt championship is tire/fuel effect. It would have made the racing more interesting i think. at the moment it is just a case of sticking on softs, or mediums if you fancy more of a challenge, getting ahead then not making any mistakes. fuel and tire wear would make things a lot more interesting.

i know i am going on, but hear me out! this has probably been mentioned before, but i also think it would be good if you could customise the races in A-Spec. So say you just chose a standard 20 lap race, you would earn lets say 50,000cr. if you chose a 30 lap race, 75,000cr, and so forth up to a full gp distance. then, if you chose tire wear, the total you would win would get multiplied but 1.4, so for a 20 lap race with tire wear you would win 70,000cr. then if you chose fuel effect and tire wear, the prize money would be multiplied buy 1.8, winning 90,000cr. i think this would encourage drivers to race with tire and fuel effect, therefore creating more rounded and better drivers :)

there, i am done. i know that last post was off topic, but i needed to get this out of my system! :)

I say PD gets the licence to, perhaps, Star Mazda or IndyCar.

PD ought to get a classic F1 licence. Try to get a few F1 (and world championship) cars from each decade in that fit similar regulations (So that you can get a close race. Ascari's 500F2 vs Mansell's FW14B would not be a fair race).

As far as other Single seaters, something like Formula Renault, or even Formula Ford would be nice (to step up from Karts).

well... why porsche didnt gave the licence to PD??

so why a crappy game like shift got these licences?

many things on this planet go wrong...

If only we had these. Or atleast the second one. I love both but mainly the second one. I haveno idea what they are, only that there made by Lotus. :D

For some information here...

ToCA RD3 had 3 WilliamsF1 cars (FW11B Honda, FW18 Renault, and FW27 BMW). GT5 had 2 Ferrari F1 cars (F2007 and F10).

What do you think? :dopey:

I think it does need more looking into, since GT5 is exploring new racing tiers all the time. We have go-karts now and even drifting but no exploration into single seaters. F1 is expensive (thanks Bernie) but there are so many formula out there that would be happy to have their series feature in the lead driving / racing game.

I really resent how GT3 and GT4 both had Formula 1 cars, made by GT, that were seen as the fastest cars in the game only. A way of making money faster and to win any race with ease (unless racing the FGT championship). GT5 has 3 F1 cars, so they've had to create the X2010 as the new, even faster, way of hauling in credits for no effort at all.

I have no hope of driving them in a GT game.

Yes, I think that we will never get SUCH cars (classic old grand prix cars) in a GT game... PD lacks passion IMO (just look at the untouched standard cars)...

Do you really think that the crew, which copy pasted all those clone cars will include a grand prix car from the 30s-70s? :)

Maybe because they would make a renault engined car sound like a ferrari engined car?

Or maybe because they would give a 80s turbo car the sound of the Minolta (which is the same as the Acura NSX or Nomad Diablo - nice on PD).

GT3 had REAL F1 cars, they unfortunately weren't licensed, so were called Polyphony 001, 002....
It's a shame these cars weren't ported along with the Nomad Diablo :(

Because look at what PD did with the NASCAR and WRC licences, absolutely nothing! There's what, 2 NASCAR tracks in the game? No qualifying, no racing rules, crappy AI, and WRC is virtually non-existent save for a couple of cars. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport and, as such, needs to be so much more than just realistic physics. I'm not sure PD would be capable of portraying the atmosphere and intensity of Formula 1.

I would rather they stuck with road cars and let other developers take care of the standalone series. Besides, Codemasters are doing an excellent job!

I love open wheel racing. I hope they include some open wheel racing mode in their next game. May be include some older F1 cars as new one are not possible because of license.
