I mean, everyone knows about Pearl Harbor, I'm just saying Canadians, Brits or Australians just don't have as much background info on it as it doesn't apply to them as much.

I agree. I do get the point of the joke, but it's far from accurate. Are Imperial Japan/Nazi Germany comparable to Al-Qaeda/Iraq situation? I don't think so.

I think its a rather funny joke. There were people back then saying we shouldnt be going to war in europe and all that and now today they are saying we shouldnt be at war in Iraq. Its pretty funny.

When the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked the Pearl Harbor, they were clearly in alliance with the Nazi Germany. Also, they were taking over the world. Saddam did not possess that kind of threat. When the 9/11 attack occured, Al-Qaeda was responsible. The joke is implying that the U.S. was right to go after Iraq for something (mostly)Saudi terrorists did. Saddam Hussein's Regime was evil, no doubt about that. Only problem is, there are leaders like him all over the world. Weapons of mass destruction? It's not like Iraq was the only country suspected of possessing WMDs.

Now, if you had just said that Americans who didn't want to go against Nazis were foolish, I agree. On Iraq...... well, you know.

It was just to the people who didn't get it although it would be better suited to how people treated our troops during Vietnam. Nerve Gas is a WMD.
