That is it. If this update stays, mostly 1 car per day, and the limit, I will quit.

People farm the x2010, what do I do?
Hmm...anyone remember the stealth cars? Just make it ungiftable.

I dupe for myself, by having three accounts. Two of them have ONLY money from seasonal events, my one account did the corvette race a few weeks back, and I went from level 0 to 17.

But what do I do with this? I am going one by one through every car and trading to my main account. Because I want to collect, and drive every car. I don't trade online. I don't race online. I don't sell cars. I don't even have any friends who play GT5.

My only reason to play is for that. If Polyphony will not let me collect one of every premium car, paint and mod it, then I will be quitting. I thought 2.5 months to earn every car was bad, but doing it this way means almost 300 days.

Please post if you will do the same. After March 3rd, without changing back, I am done with GT5 and will search for an alternative. My old PS2 does miss my old GT4...

Why can't you earn them in your main account?

*earning* the cars is half the fun IMHO. If you don't want to spend the time earning the cars by racing, improving, etc. and only want to get the cars by duping & selling, then yes, you probably should quit, since the update prevents duping of high value cars, and forces people to earn and value the acquisition of each car.

What's that saying about how sometimes the value of the journey is greater than the destination?

There is no value of the journey because PD forces everyone to mindlessly grind for hours at a time to earn enough credits to buy some cars. The credit and experience economy of the game is broken. For example, I have left my PS3 on for weeks having Bob grind the same 2 endurance events to get to level 40.

Because some of us have busy lives outside of GT5. I work 50+ hours a week and sometimes 60+. After all that i dont feel like grinding Indy 45743 times to get cars. While they are letting us, im moving my expensive cars to my main account then i dont know what. I was wanting to go for what the OP was saying, to drive every car in the game. But it doesnt look like that will happen. So i will probably say heck with the game and my PS3 will stay off until the new Batman game comes out then GT6. I dont play video games except for them 2 really.

So what's the excuse for thinking there is some time limit on when you have to finish GT5?

Stop thinking that there is some reason why you should have everything in the game within a week/month/year, frankly GT5 is made to endure this kind of amateur/immature outlook to provide fun for years to come, not just for the next week or month...Not that anybody really cares for your decision to quit or not.

How do you want to collect every car? By not racing?

Sorry, I'm still grinding away. It's not so bad, especially compared to the several hours I wasted one weekend trying to get 18 pics sorted and uploaded to the Official Forza site, just to get them back mucked up. But have fun with whatever.

He wants to collect them by not having to do Indy 899 times. I guess he could split those 899 races up among the various evens, but either way, it's still grinding.

Quit!

Go on......

Have you quit yet?

So what's the excuse for thinking there is some time limit on when you have to finish GT5?.

the fact that, contrary to GT4, there is only enough diverse content to keep us busy for a month or two.

Unless you're one of those people that think there's an exciting diffrrence between driving a Skyline R34 GT-R spec II '01 and a Skyline R34 GT-R MNIII Nur '01.

I've done every sub-9 hour A-Spec race at least a dozen times by now, and it's starting to feel stale.

Stop pretending they envisioned any sort of longevity out of this game outside of collecting standard cars.

You know what the ultimate solution is? Give arcade mode a bigger part. Remember in past GT games, how you unlocked cars in arcade. Why didn't they keep that system. Maybe give us a set of 10 preset challenges/races, and if you have to at least bronze them to unlock a new set of challenges which also earns you new cars. Make it so you can eventually unlock every single car in the game for arcade mode, but of course that car stays only in arcade mode.

Im mostly into the online. I just want the fastest cars, and even if I don't win, the race itself is exciting. Feeling like your in the races on tv, and knowing anything could happen, that's where the fun comes from. Its nice to collect but if that's all u do, then your missing out.

I know gt5 needs some work here and there still, but the online is what makes it fun IMO. U feel more satisfied with a win. Isn't that was a racing game is all about? We just need is a good matchmaking filter.

Why can't people quit in silence?

Well... I guess you're going to be quitting then; so please feel free to add me and give me all of your cars in your garage before tossing the game into the garbage bin. "Thanks" in advance.

I think he's quit.

Did you quit yet?

Maybe not but I can see myself spending at least 3 days to a week on tuning the one GTR before moving onto a different type of GTR ie: R33/32 etc. then spending days/weeks on end trying to get my paint schemes down, not to mention testing my tunes on seasonal TT's to see how good I am, if these sorts of things seem like a chore to you, Need For Speed is usually on the shelf below GT5:tup:. It has pretty pictures, cheat codes to get all the cars in one day and lots of oh-so realistic physics. Maybe you should try that game instead.

Playing online is boring, when it isn't utterly horrible. Not PD's fault, but the average internet user is a moron. I'd rather enjoy GT5 in peace, offline, like all the other GTs that came before. Except, now there's not so much to do.

Thanks for the tip. I think I remember seeing Nfs on the shelf when I bought a brilliant game called Gran Turismo 4. A game with a lot more substance than GT5, which only has the pretty pictures going for it.

Can you tell me how many standards versus premiums there are in Need for Speed?

brambos

Idk, my experience is good. The idea of racing AI(bad or good) feels boring. You get no reaction from them. They're not conscious. It's more fun online because you can get more competitive. Ya, sucks about a-spec. But gaming is more of a social thing now.

Like I said, better filters and matchmaking is all I want. Plus more options for the host.
Oh and a livery editor..

For everyone who thinks I am stupid because I like to collect every single premium dealership car, in order, fully customized, and fully tuned, I cannot post my response to you in this forum.

Quitting in silence? I will be silent on the forums come March 4th, if Polyphony doesn't make a change BACK.

And let me inform you of something. I imported the Japanese Racing Edition PS3. I have the Signature Edition. I have almost every single Alfa Romeo museum card. OH WAIT! You don't even know what that means, because they didn't include it on your version!

I have been obsessed with Gran Turismo from 3, and 4 was my dream come true. I am an auto enthusiast, and my thrill is to experience every vehicle. I don't feel like shutting down my system and re doing saves all the time to try out every car, and lose it. So that's why the other accounts send them over. I don't buy 15 x2010's and trade them or whatever. I am going through every brand and buying one of each vehicle, so they are in order in my garage. When I finish, I will devote my time to UCD.

Unlike you, my playstation is of value to me. It's not worth it to grind, nor leave it on for 9 days to do a 24 hour race, since I work about 25 hours a week, and go to school, along with my other clubs and activities.

GT4 was perfect. Many styles, many ways, everything racing (besides IRL, WRC, and nascar aka one big left turn). How many GT5 races are there? I bet you can count them. Try it on GT4. I'll be gone and silent before you finish.

This post and thread is to get people to speak up and complain about what PD is. I have enough in my life to occupy me, not needing GT5. I originally bought a PS3 because my PS2 broke, and I needed a dvd player and a way to play GT4. When that broke, I only bought a PS3 for GT5. I own four games. GT5 Britain, GT5 Japan, GT5 US, and COD:BO (a gift from my girlfriend who hates Gran Turismo).

So please, if you are unlike the many people here who have enough free time to grind there PS3 along with their life, then speak up.

As I said in another post, even in the marvelous one-thousand-and-one things to do GT4, I grinded races to buy cars. And I still hadn't bought all the cars I wanted. Thankfully I can buy just about all of them and more in GT5, with far better physics, graphics, and Photo Mode.

Yup yup. If you don't like racing and messing with your cars, GT5 is kind of boring after a while...

And okay, leaving it like that is rather trite. But honestly, while just about all of us want more content and a better online than we have now, there is plenty to enjoy in GT5. I think I've sampled a little over half the tracks in the game, and am going to dive into Arcade Mode for a ton of that. Then head first into the Course Maker and Photo Mode for months on end. I still have much yet to taste of this delicious game.

The grinding wouldn't be so bad if they didn't shoot the longevity of this game in the foot with the events & XP.

I mean seriously PD, no manufacturer races? Those were some of the best ones!

Then take your time. No one says you HAVE to play every day.

And once you're finally bored with it, just stop. No point suffering.

Everyone is pretending that PD(or any game developer, really) is supposed to make their game have everlasting fun. If the game is fun for a long time, then they can't get you to buy the next game because you're still having fun with the previous one. And if you don't buy the next one, they don't get another $60 from you immediately. It's all about the dolla bills!
Honestly, I don't care so much about collecting cars as I do about racing. The game is a driving simulator, not a model car collection. What I am really upset with is the lack of events! If this is a real "driving simulator" then give me some more events for heavens sakes so that I can actually have a different driving experience, and not just the same events over and over.
But, like I said, it's about the money. Seeing as must consumers when disappointed with a game will still by the next one in hopes of it getting better, the cycle will continue. Enjoy!

That would make a tiny little bit of sense if, like NfS, there would be a new GT every year. As it stands, I'll see Halley's Comet come round more often than a new GT game...

I agree on the manufacturer races. It was nice always waiting for that special make to take for a lot of races. My MOST missed feature is for arcade, being limited to about 70 cars. It was nice being able to just take a prius or Odyssey, or whatever vehicle, for a spin. Now if there is a car I didn't think of, I have to go all the way back and re add it. Not sure why all of them aren't available, or at least unlock them as you go, such as in GT4.

Well said my friend. But if they expect me to run to the shop, like i did this time,to buy their game, next time they are really going to be disappointed.I'll wait for a platinum (cheaper) edition or just play something else.I really love GT series, but that last one was a big disappointment....

This is not true. Since GT4 came out, November my freshmen year in highschool, I played almost every single day, and at worse only once per week. This continued until mid October of 2010, when my PS2 finally died on me. Since I have gotten a new (er) PS2, but the graphics are just so bad from 7 years ago-ish.

And honest, if they could up the graphics, GT4 is better than 5. If the graphics were changed, swapped out 250 of miatas, skylines, civics, and nsxs for the newer models, it would be perfect. Seriously, GT5 is a pretty big step back. I mean, 1033 cars.
-714 from GT4
-270 ish from new Premium models
50 new standard models.

We really haven't gained much. 270 cars isn't that much, really. For almost seven years, and the standards of PD. I often cringe at people complaining, but the expansion of GT3 to GT4, and GT4 to GT5 does not compare at all. Then again, I never played GT2, so maybe I would have seen this coming if I did.
