Also, here's 2 good resources if you forget some of the cars or tracks:

I have two:
1) Sierra 24hr
Time: 24 REAL hours like in GT5
Typical AI: Audi R8 '01, Mazda 787B '91, BMW V12 LMR '99 etc
50 cars on track, like real Le Mans racing (I think it's about 50 but I'm not sure).

2) Detriot showdown (Chevy vs Dodge vs Ford)
Race #1: Sports cars @ Willow Springs: Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, Chevy Camaro SS, Dodge Challenger
Race #2: Supercars @ Daytona Road course: Ford GT, Dodge SRT Viper, Chevy Corvette ZR1
Race #3: Race cars @ Laguna Seca: Dodge Viper GTSR Team Oreca #91, Ford GT LM Spec II, Chevy Corvette C5-R

Why would you want AI?

...

We are in the age of online gaming. Games like Battlefield 4 have paper-thin, painfully short Single Player modes with awful bugs and awful AI because they want you to go online (where they spend most of the developing time). Polyphony Digital are going down the same route and it's becoming more apparent with the updates. You can't live in 2005 forever and want Standard Cars and Offline gaming. It's nearly 2015. The age of true virtual reality (Oculus Rift) and mobile connectivity is upon us and Offline play will become even rarer in years to come and eventually disappear completely.

Yeah, how silly are the old-school cranks who made Event Creator the 3rd-most requested feature in the worlds biggest Gran Turismo forum? They all need to get with the times and MAKE some time on their weekly schedule to go online racing against a grid of first-corner nutcases! I sure hope they are all wealthy enough to afford a good connection..

Your entire post is a laughable projection of your own perspective onto others, even going so far as to tell us how this game is 'supposed to be played'. I love that.

PD is going down some sort of "route" alright. Unfortunately it IS the path which you long for, and a large swath of the fanbase is jumping ship and telling the townsfolk to stay away from this wayward barge.

Delays, grossly misleading ads and promos hyping these last two releases, confounding game design decisions, anti-racing events which promote poor racecraft, and a soul-eating marketing campaign called VisionGT which clearly eats well into their extremely limited manpower resources despite a multi-million dollar budget.

Clearly. Competent A.I. opponents in a racing game are just not important. Who knew?
