If you had 12k to spend on a car?

Subaru Baja (9K)
Baja Turbocharger 40-30149 R ($725)
Super Swamper Tires TrXus STS All Terrain Radial (Rest of the Money)

I'd import a RHD '92 Accord EX. Sorry, but I just love my car and dont see myself ever wanting to get rid of it. In the real world it might cost that much just trying to properly legalize it, but for the purposes of this thread, the other 10k would go into mods I already have planned. 5-lug conversion, RPF1s, and serious brake and suspension upgrades... I think it would cover the parts I have in mind.

That's what welding is for 💡

Did not know that the 4th-gen Cobra's IRS swapped over to the '79-'93 Mustangs, but then again, I'm still new to Mustang ownership ;)

Every Mustang from 79-04 has interchangeable suspension.

Not sure why you'd fab in a Bird or Mark VIII diff when the hubs are the wrong bolt pattern, have small brakes, it's the wrong track width, and so on when the newer Cobra stuff goes straight in.

That Supra is dumb. If you wanted to make a redneck-mobile why not just get a Firebird instead of putting a big block in a Supra. Probably cost $20k less to do it all too.

I would describe it more as unique, but I get your point. I would rather have a Pontiac than a Toyota.

I would get the fiesta ST, yes its very common but it goes like stink.
The actual car (if i get it second hand) would only cost 5k, but i would need the other 7k just to get insured on it.
Im a 19 year old guy, so insurance is absolutely ridiculous.

Is it THAT ridiculously expensive in the UK? Madonna mia. In Germany I'd have to pay ~1000€ for a BMW 318i E36 being 19-years-old.

Do any of you guys know why it is so expensive in the UK?

because 17-21 years old's drive like utter D****s, i should know :(

but when i was 17, i tried to get insured on a 1.4 corsa, my first quote was 4.5k, which was twice as much as the car, then i tried a 1.0 and got quoted 2.2k, in the end i done a cheeky and went as a named driver and payed £600 lol

'02 Trans-Am WS6. So I can be a prick.

;p

In all reality, I'd probably just keep the SE-R I've got now, or perhaps try and cut a deal on a stick-shift Fiesta.

And here I was thinking my $6600 quote for an S2000 was bad...

I LOOOVE my 86, but these cars are awesome too. I have a soft spot for 1980s Japanese cars.

Otherwise, I'd go for a Miata with an LS-swap. Max-out the budget on that... though I might otherwise go looking for much better brakes than the soggy stuff that comes on the NA Miata...

Pfft, NA Miata brakes aren't soggy...

...They just don't work very well :D

Either the Volvo S60R or the V70R, depending on what my needs were at the time. I'd probably tend to lean towards the V70R more though, because I think a 300hp, AWD, station wagon is awesome. It'd have to be Flash Green too.

Grande Punto, no extra's, Maybe a 5 door 1.2 Seat Ibiza with 3000 left, a Fiat 500 with a 1.2 engine and no extra's. Or a Dacia Sandero and then play with extra's for 5000.]

EDIT: Oh, its just 12.000.

Maybe a 5 door 1.2 Seat Ibiza with 2000 left, or a Dacia Sandero and then play with extra's for 4000.

Maybe a Toyota Aygo, that could be funny.

Anyway, 12.000 is a little too less for slow cars.

Your looking at new cars though, better of looking for a second hand.

Because you pay full price for a Fiat 500 at a dealership and as soon as your drive it off the forecourt, it's price will depreciate by around 2 - 4 thousand because its now second hand.

Moral, never buy a brand new car unless you have money to waste.

98-05 Lexus GS

03-04 Mercury Marauder (probably tough to find them for $12k but you could probably haggle them down to close to it)

94-96 Chevy Impala SS (same as above...might be tough to find for $12k but close enough)

Thats what I'd buy.

Probably because they've all been owned by drug dealers and murderers. Still tempting...

Probably because of the badge haha, Lexus have recently picked up there game in the past 2/3 years but before then the only people to have a Lexus was people who stole them ...

You wonder who they got stolen from in the first place.

'Cause I want to be different, so there :P

Besides, as I said, I didn't know that stuff before, especially since the '79-'93 Mustangs are 4-lug, and the '94-'04 Mustangs are 5-lug. I was simply speaking off the cuff, not doing in-depth research. I'm still relatively new to Ford ownership, having been a GM (multiple), Mopar(multiple), Toyota(multiple), and Nissan owner previously.
