If you're a big computer nerd I could use your help...

So my CD Writer drive just opened all by itself and it refuses to close. I can't even push it closed... it just comes back open again. Weird...

My CD Writer LED also likes to light up by itself even though there's nothing in there. It also refuses to read the CDs that I do put in there. Damn thing.

Lately my computer has also been freezing for a few short minutes... unfreezing... then freezing again. This piece of crap computer is starting to piss me off. Any of the real computer geeks of the board have any ideas of what the hell might be going on?

You, my friend, have got, what I call, a virus. You, my friend, are, what I call, screwed.

(How's that for comma's?)

I agree with Snoopie on this one. I am not a computer geek by far but I have had a virus before and it acted like that a little. I know you dont want to hear because I wouldnt either. (Its how I felt when my PS2 broke) Your screwed. :(

Ok, well, disconnect the thing, bring it back to the store, and get a new one.
If you bring it home and it still does that, Format.

The freezing could just be background progs, if you're on a slow machine

Oh, ScarySquirrel, about the thread titel. I'm not gonna make a: "If you are a big mother****ing ****s*cker then please help me!" now am I?

Choose your titels carefull!! :)

Yeah, you're presenting the problem like it's a hardware issue, but it almost certainly isn't. You fail to mention your OS, browser, connection, A/V software, what else is happening (applications, processes, network connections) on the computer at the same time, your processor/memory/disk configuration - in short, anything of use at all.

So, none of the "computer nerds" are going to be able to help you. Snoopie's right, your thread title is biting the hand that may give you something to eat.

Give us some more information, and the people here who know about computers (either because they want to, because they're paid to, or both) may be willing and able to help.

All you folks who called it a virus were completely and utterly wrong. It was some of my hardware conflicted within itself. Kind of weird... since it never had done it before. But, I fixed it myself. Turns out I'm a pretty big computer nerd myself. :D

 Explain what was the problem then? My guess is the virus seezed and you'll have the same problem the next uneven numbered date...
