So he’ll race in both Super GT and Super Formula next year?
Motorsport.tv for live races. I think Super GT puts them on their YouTube channel (with Japanese commentary) a few days later. What is the status on the rights for these series.. anywhere we can see them in 2026?
Correct, Takashi Yokoyama in 1997, a first lap incident brought out the safety car and when the pack slowed up behind it on the front straight, Takashi(who started 17th) didn’t notice and launched off the rear of an another car at an estimated speed of 160mph.Holy crap 😨
Great to hear he's okay. that was scary.
If I remember correctly there was a fatality a long time ago at Fuji where the driver got airborne and struck the overhead
I saw that movie in the cinema. tripped me outHaunting Trivia: 5 years before that tragedy, a Science Fiction film called ‘FreeJack’ had a scene which the main character was killed in a similar style of crash.
An update from Igor himself:
"There was a major crash in yesterday's race, and I spent the night at the hospital under observation. The test results showed no abnormalities, and I was discharged today and able to return home.Thank you so much for all the warm messages and your concerns. For now, I want to focus fully on recovering and strive to come back in top condition 🙏"
Speaking of which. Qualifying for this weekend’s Super GT race.
I’m not thinking we’ll see new GT500 cars. It would have made more sense to display said cars at the World Tour event instead of the Super Formula cars. Especially being the SF26 series ran at Sugo beginning of last month.
