Well I've been signed up for internet GP Manager for a while and never got around to actually trying it. I played it at a friend's house a couple weeks ago and instantly knew it would be a bad thing for me... in a good way. So I've decided to use my beta account again and get into it a bit.

Very addictive and customizable gameplay you can play how you want depending on your schedule. Races can become very deep and micro-managing in iGPM makes B-spec mode in GT5 look like pre-school.

Anyway, I suggest you all give it a shot and see what you think for yourselves. It's a pretty rewarding experience and is finally a proper racing manager game online in the same vein as Football Manager. But it's still early in its development so joining asap to be part of its growth into a hopefully fully-polished experience in the coming years should be exciting.

How it works:
You can only race one league race per day, so a lot of preparation is involved. You set up everything that has to do with the race, from colors of the car and team to fuel management.
Join a beginner's league and start to accumulate XP and have races. Pace is up to you. Then you'll start unlocking and expanding your base, allowing you to hire more staff and focus on different parts of design in order to progress and succeed. It's a difficult art to master, balancing out all of your resources in order to make for the most thorough racing team, but when you do get it right, race to race, it just feels amazing.

Inside Sim Racing did a great review which lets you see it all in a good 20 minutes.

So there! Surprised there isn't a thread already, I looked for it but hopefully I didn't miss it or anything. Anyway! Let's get talking about your experiences and possibly set up a little league sometime for fun. Have at.

I just started, really fun so far.

No one else is playing this?

I tried joining the ISR league and the ISR feeder league, but both are full. So I just found a daily 100% league for rookies. Been doing pretty well so far, all top 10's and had a 4th place finish in the last race. Was at Malaysia and it started really wet, it stopped raining seconds after I pitted my first driver for new full wet tires. She did ok and was actually running much faster than everyone else who switched straight to hard tires until the track dried up. She ended up finishing 10th because of the extra stop I had to make though.

Really enjoying it and can't wait to get into a league with some people I know.

Trying first race right now just using the live timing window. The 2d viewer seems nice, but for the price not too sure. Currently only in a small "international GP championship" league and will probably come in 3 and 4 out of 4 cars. :/

I signed up 👍. Eddie, you should make a GTP-league .

Really glad I started playing this, I'm having more fun with this than I am actual racing games.

Feel like I'm talking to myself here, but that's ok.... :)

This game is so fun! I'm in a daily 2-car 100% race length league, it's too much of a time commitment long-term, but I'm trying to level up fairly quickly. Once I finish this league I'll join a league that races twice a week probably.

Yesterday's race was mediocre at best with my drivers finishing 9th and 10th out of 15. But today's race, after hiring some new staff along with a great tire strategy on my part got me to finish 1st and 2nd with a 20+ sec gap to 3rd. :)

I have just started this should I make a gtp league

I didn't realize until just now that you don't physically have to be there to race, as long as everything is good to go, setup wise.

I'd be interested in joining a GTP league, how many races per week? I'd only be good for 3 max a week, I like to be on to watch the race, but not the end of the world.

Ok i will make a gtp league the race distance will be 50% and it wont have a password
What days should we go it Friday,Saturday,Sunday at 6:00 gmt

I would rather a Saturday or Sunday, so I could be at the races, but doesn't matter. See what other people think.

Being at the races is really important for your overall performance. That way you can monitor your tires and fuel usage, and make adjustments to your push level and pit fuel amounts as the race goes on. Also for changing weather conditions you can then decide exactly when you will pit to change tires. Many of the guys in my league had it set to where when it stopped raining they pitted after 1 or 2 laps for dry tires but the track was still really wet. I stayed out for another 5 or 6 laps on full wets running a few seconds a lap faster than the guys who switched immediately. Watched the lap times and came into pit when the times were beginning to even out.

Also another important thing that I've learned is that you need to do all your testing just a few minutes before qualifying so you can ensure you have the best setup for the race. I've won my last two races by over a lap because other people in my league did their testing an hour or more before the race but it started raining just before.

5 wins in a row in my league. :) Also 5 2nd place finishes in a row for my #2 driver.

I wish more people would play live so it would be more competitive. Can't wait to get out of rookie.

Up to 27xx ranking overall. My goal is to get to the top 1000.

Really surprised not more people are into this. I guess management games aren't for everyone though.

Ranking is up to 24xx now :)

I'm in this now too.

Don't know how to check my ranking yet...
Any ideas?

Just started, and I have a quick question I was hoping someone can answer. Do leagues run for multiple seasons? Or do you do one league, and that is one season done, so then you join another league?

Go to the main "PLAY" page and click on your name. That will bring up your profile page which will show your current ranking.

Leagues do run for multiple seasons if they have enough participants. Depending on how well you finish the season you will either stay in rookie or be promoted. But you can leave the league and join another. Although there is a small penalty for switching to another league, but I'm not sure what the penalty is. It's just to discourage people jumping from league to league without completing a season.

So the car that I am working on now, and getting new parts and developing, is that stuck in the league that I am currently in? As in I can't use the car, with those developed parts in a league i have just signed up for IF those parts where developed in a different league.

If you can switch cars/developments between leagues, surely it is best to start in leagues with one race a day, and get lots of development done quickly?

I can't answer those questions, I'm still pretty new as well and trying to figure things out.

This looks like a lot of fun and joined in myself. I hope to see a GTP league in the future. 👍

I just signed up as well. I have to wait a few days before my first race though. I've already prepared for it (signing staff/partners, testing, etc.). The game looks pretty neat so far. If I like it enough I may consider paying in order to get the 2D-viewer 👍

A GTP league would be awesome to have in the future, as long as we have enough people to fill it up.

Yeah, keeping the leagues full is the hardest part. Because you may be in a full rookie league and then get promoted only to find that the Pro tier only has a few people running regularly.

Oh, and here's some tips:

- ATTEND THE RACES (LIVE). I've attended all but one race in my league so far, and that was the race that I did the absolute worst in. By attending live you can change strategies, pay attention to weather, pay attention to tire temp, adjust your "push" level, etc, etc.

- Try to keep your tire temps white or very light pink. Once they get into darker pink and red colors you will end up losing massive amounts of time. So don't just assume that you can set your driver(s) to push hard and have them be fast, it's not that simple. Only accept them being red when you are on your last couple laps before pitting or finishing.

- SPEND YOUR MONEY. What's the use of having 30 million in the bank if you are a backmarker? Spend that money to get better staff, better drivers, training facilities, upgrades, etc.

- DO NOT set your weather strategy to pit immediately or after a couple laps when it starts or stops raining. I've won all my rain races by lapping the field twice normally just because I don't pit right away. Watch your lap times, don't pit until the field is running as fast as you are. If you set it to pit after 1 or 2 laps when the rain stops, that track is still going to be VERY wet for 5-10 laps with you running dry tires. Trust me, you can gain massive amounts of time just by watching your lap times and then pitting.

- Don't trust your Technical Director's fuel estimates until you verify for yourself. My first director was consistently overestimating by about 0.5L per lap. Now my current one underestimates by about 0.3L per lap. This may change as they get to higher levels.

- Do your setup as close to the race as possible. If you have two drivers have your number two driver run his test sessions first, then adjust his final numbers to your number one driver and do their test sessions last.

- Go to www.myweather2.com and type in the track name. It gives you much better weather forecasts, even as detailed as how much rain is expected so you can select wet or intermediates.

I'm still brand new too, but this is what I've learned so far, and I'm doing quite well in my league (I'm J. Garrett/AKB48 Motorsports)

I signed up yesterday, in the US sat/sun league. Had a disastrous 1st race, completely blew my fuel strategy and ended up with both cars out of the points. Gonna try to do better today. Thanks for the tips superbike!

So had my first race today, sadly I couldn't watch over it and even missed the qualifying, which my driver placed 2nd in (out of 10). For some reason they pitted every single lap in the race and ended up 5 laps behind. What happened? Why pit every lap? I didn't see anything on pitting strategy.

Weird that they would pit every lap. Go into the race results and click the little icon next to your lap time, this brings up detailed lap information. Was he running almost no fuel for some reason? Was rain a factor in the race?

Yup... 3 liters of fuel every lap, even when refueled. I was sure I put something like 30.

30 is too low for almost all races anyways. Most of the time you are going to be doing 2 or 3 stop strategies and running somewhere between 40-70 liters per stint, you strategy may differ of course, I've even read about some of the top guys using 6 and 7 stop strategies in a 100% length race, but that's completely unrealistic and not really needed for rookie level races, our drivers just aren't skilled enough yet.

So I was almost there. I just need to make sure what I was typing next time. Thanks for the tips. 👍

Wish there was a way to know an estimate of how long tires will last.

I mean we do test runs, why can't we get that info.

Doing a race @ Malaysia in next few hours, doing one 2 stop on softs with one driver, and one 1 stop on hards. Just taking a shot in the dark if it will work.

Really the only way to know is by experience, or to check out the forums and hope someone posted a recent strategy that worked for them.

In the beginning just follow the recommendation of your Tech Director for stops and compounds.
