I'm annoyed about the whole restrictions in the game!

First of all, let me say that I'm new to this forum. I've loved Gran Turismo since it came out on PlayStation 1. But the two things that bother me about this game is:

1. On the S class events, not enough PP for really strong cars like the red bullx2014! WTF is up with that! why even bother getting that in the game if only for single and two player modes!!

2. I'm confused with the S class race events, now you, the driver cannot takes a tiny shortcut without getting penalized for it (3-5 seconds)!!! That's just complete ********!! that never happened in GT5!

Well, that's my big rant for now, thanks for reading (if you did). I would really like to know what you guys and gals think!?

We're talking about this....

Thanks for the heads up on the nerfed short cuts in S class, btw. I didn't know that because as soon as I got the S license and saw that there were NO races that a Redbull could enter (nothing to strive for) I quit playing, I was LIVID!!

I think it forces you to drive a normal car (not imaginary) really fast while staying on the track. Isn't that what racing is all about? Would you have fun racing honda civics with an indy car? That's about the comparison on a redbull v. normal race car. My 2 cents!

They restricted Red Bulls so that the races wouldn't be too easy.
the thing with the shortcut is just added realism because you wouldn't get away with it in real life.
if you wanna run x2014's and cut corners you can play in single player and do the vetted challenges for cash in career.

I not to happy about the restrictions either. It be nice after you completed races the restriction no longer applies & you could drive a way faster car than what was previously allowed & have no limit on power.

1. The Red Bulls are retardedly fast cars. Why would they let you drive them?
2. It's called real racing. You can't take shortcuts in real life.

That's where they want wrong. Most people know how to enjoy themselves, there's nothing to gain from restrictions in single player.

I enjoy winning by staying on the track with a car that is close in performance. Not cutting through the grass with an Escudo skipping every S curve.

First, welcome to the forum. Enjoy your stay.
Here's the "average users" answers to your concerns-

The Red Bull cars were released as DLC not too long ago and they have their own little section in multiple championships you can complete. It's completely separate from the S, IA, etc classes. They're not even real so they shouldn't be in a class, except of their own against their own.
I'm assuming since you've unlocked S races that you can see the "Red Bull Challenge" races. That's where you race them.

You can't take shortcuts without being penalized in real life. This is what S-class is for. If you want to take shortcuts, go back to IA, IB, A, B and N class races. S-class is used for a much more real feeling. Hard AI, "long" races (not really, but that's another subject) and tire/fuel consumption in race cars.

Because it makes you a better driver to stay on the track, I am ok with that when you get penalized for cutting corners in a race but PP in races and you can not use the really fast cars for that events and that is wrong and that is why they have taken the fun out of this game.

I kinda like the penalty for cutting corners. Like others said, that's what happens in real racing. GT is a driving SIMULATOR so I'm glad they did it. It actually pushes you to be that little bit better. I'm actually surprised they didn't do it earlier (as in the earlier classes).

That's you, and it's no more correct than someone cutting in an overpowered car.

I myself like a good race and hate going off track. Having the game trying to enforce that does me no good at all, it also hinders my ability to experiment or just do something different for fun.

This was why I turned it off at all times in GT5. It was terrible, punishing the wrong car, or allowing an easy cheat, or just being unnecessary. I don't know how it works in GT6, but if it is the same as GT5, I'd just turn off. Speaking of realism, you don't suddenly lose engine power and become a danger to everyone on the track. The least they could do is come up with a penalty system that looks reasonable.

How you good you get is up to you. If you want to drive clean, the penalty system doesn't help much. If you don't want to drive clean, the penalty system is just something you learn to exploit.

Super races are only 15% of the game. They are meant to be the most challenging and technical. If cutting corners is fun for you, there is plenty of races to do this in. The only thing that would be better than the penalty system would be a full damage model. I know a lot of drivers just come into a corner hot and use the AI car as a bumper to slow down, then cut to the inside after you push them off the line. If you tried that in a real race your day is over. If there was a full damage model that couldn't be turned off in the super races, we would be hearing complaints about that instead. I for one would have preferred that.

Rightfully so. There's no reason to not be able to turn something off, especially in a game like GT where you have very little in the way of options for creating your own races.

Sounds like fun to me, Super races look like the funnest of races in GT.

1. The Red Bull cars have their own section.
2. I'm actually quite happy about the penalties for cutting the track.

The S races are the most fun for me

Yes real racing where there are 240 MPH fantasy GT Corvettes racing LMP and Group C cars in a 3 lap race where the cars are all spread out.

Come off it. GT is not even remotely 'real racing' in career mode. Let us have fun and drive the cars we love.

I remember in GT2 there was a game mode where you could take any car and just enter a random race and you would get cars similar to your own. If I recall correctly you couldn't even choose track. That would be awesome for GT6. If you choose a Red Bull, all cars will be red bulls.

It is already like that. At least for the Red Bulls.

Too bad the Arcade Mode is chase the rabbit.

I honestly don't care so much about not being able to use the RedBull cars. However I have a ton of LMP cars that I can't drive in career mode and earn some money unless racing other super high spec cars that kill you after one or two mistakes.

I get that the game is supposed to be a challenge, and that's fine. Beating each race series the first time is a challenge. But now I don't want to be forced to focus 110% of my attention on the perfectly making every turn just to get some money. Sometimes I just want to have *fun* and blast around a track with a really fast car, against some moderately fast cars. No not LMP vs Sunday Cup, if only because there's no money to be made. But I would like to take my 700+pp cars and race against say 550-650 cars. If I (or a friend who doens't play GT6) plow into a few walls, no big deal. Instead my options are play difficult races against very fast opponents with zero mistakes, grind the same few races (Like the Wind, RedBull), or make no money in arcade.

Another player since GT1 and this is by far the most restrictive and unnecessarily frustrating/boring game they've made.

I couldn't have said it better! I also neglected to mention I'm a player since GT1 and I have found GT2 and GT3 to be the best. I think it's been mostly down hill since then (considering restrictions). I think most people who don't constantly play online in racing guilds agree with us, that the career mode is TOO restrictive for any REPLAY value, whatsoever.

PP and restrictions should only be enforced if the player is allowed to qualify against decent AI.
How real to life is the system in GT6 anyway ? It's no way like real life racing.

Start last in a underpowered car, get to 5th or six after one lap, get to second after 2nd lap, 10 seconds behind 1st, 1st slows down last lap and you get to first half way round the last lap. Go on to finish first by 6 seconds. That sounds pretty unreal to me.

Why not let you drive the redbulls, thats as real to life as anything else in the S events..

The S class races let you drive fast on slick tires in the rain, thats not real life.

24 hour races that take 24 minutes, thats not real life.

Fuel that runs out in 5 laps , that is not real life.

So saying you should not be able to enter the Redbulls as they are not real life is B.S.

Well Its a game, that's not real life either. Gran Turismo isn't all about being 100% real because that's impossible. GT does have its problems and just making things closer to real life won't solve everything.

Agree with Kakti and Anon. Personally I don't care much for the Red Bulls myself. The RB Junior races are fun and feel more 'real' to me, plus they are an easy grind for money. On the other points - I couldn't agree more! Let me point out to the naysayers - I myself am an old guy and a purist. But sometimes it is fun in career mode to use any race with any car. I would quite often use the 3 lap Super Car race at Daytona in GT5 to see what cars could lap others etc - it was FUN. The same with the first Classic Muscle Event at Daytona in GT5. Was I the only person who tried to lap the entire field except for the Corvette Coupe - and sometimes even that if it did not start on pole? Then they re-jigged it and second time around it was on different tracks with no Daytona and that fun element was gone. Same with the Ferrari F1 races; the first time around - the Eiffel track was absolutely brilliant for that car, second time around a boring tricky track. My point here is that if I want to test my driving skills I will turn all the aids off and head to the 'Ring' or conversely, handicap myself with PP and tyre selection. But sometimes I just want to have FUN driving what I want in any race I want, it is a game after all. I sometimes have thought over the years that the devs themselves aren't even gamers with some of their bad decisions. :)
