As the title says, I intend to make a painting of the Master at some point before the launch of GT5 in November. I might wait till November because I'm taking a nice long vacation then, and will have more time for a painting, as I only have about six writing or music projects I'm working on at the same time.

Anyway, I'd like to have Kaz leaning against a race car in a racing suit. I'd appreciate some help from you guys, because my own searches are kind of lean of good source material. Things like images, videos, cars he's raced, as well as suggestions on what car to use. One he's competed in professionally? His Ford GT or Amuse S2000 with some Gran Turismo-ish liveries? I'm obviously open to suggestions.

Any help would be appreciated, and when I start, I'll see about documenting the progress. This will be a pretty big shift for me, as I used to do aviation art, and I've never done a portrait before. Should be fun though, unless it's a complete disaster. :p

You should only paint one corner of it and then release it as Portrait Prologue.

The hardes thing will be painting his teeth.... Because he has none :D

Look him up doing the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. I mean he just did it this year in a Lexus IS-F with a Lexus Driver and a Motor Trend Editor. Making plans for a cool painting.

Off Topic, but why do people call him "master"? It really just sounds stupid as he is just a game developer, not a martial arts expert or a slave owner(those are really the only people that really use/used "master" as a title).

Anyways, is there really a point to painting him? It seems like it would be more worthwhile(as well as less creepy) to just paint a car.

So glad someone else pointed out the creepy bit. I thought it was just me with that train of thought.

Word of advice, please don't ask questions that you don't want answers to. ....

y'should have just painted it and shown us. For some reason, that would seem less creepy...

I guess your doing two versions of the painting, Premium which will feature all the important details and Standard which will be more of an abstract affair...

As long as its not something like this...

No, what's creepy is painting a portrait of a person whom you refer to as "Master."

No, that's just fan art. Putting it in a shrine and worshipping it while in your mothers underwear: that is creepy.

You definitely win that argument.

Wait, so Darth Vader making a painting (or however Sith create portraits) of Lord Palpatine is creepy?

Considering Sidious was actually his Master, no, not at all.

...Well, maybe a little bit. :p

Or paint 1/5th of it in expensive oil paint oil paint, and the rest in old crayons.

Why use oil paint oil paint when you can just staple on some of your old sketches?

Why not just copy something off Google Images?
See? It's quick as well:

Done :D

Felt like putting threespeech.com there as well... why not?

Wow how good is that painting, must have taken you weeks, love your watermark of threespeech. HAHAHAH good ol google.

On a serious note i would like to see the image painted from the topic starter.

You plan on stalking him as well?
No, I plan on stalking you and spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt about a certain other racing game. :p

And what's with this "creepy" nonsense? Creepy is Robert Mapplethorpe's images of very young children exposing themselves.

As for "Master" or "Sensei," certain journalists who are his close friends refer to him as such, as well as his employees. After all, what game developer can hop into a car at a track he's not familiar with, and within a few laps are close to record times? Or has raced professionally, and extremely well? Kazunori is a rare individual, agree or not, and I want to pay him my respects for giving us a number of amazing games, so good that they have influenced the entire planet.

This is going to require some work, so rather than acrylics which are very good but very quick drying, I'd like to try the new water soluble oils. Of course I'll have to buy a whole gob of paint, so this will likely cost $100 or more just for that.

I'll do a few sketches, and make some small watercolor examples to get an idea of what I want to do. Then, get the paints, a good canvas and a desk easel and have at it. Thank you for the, uh... very few suggestions. ;)

You'll have to stalk me another time, I haven't touched my 360 since I picked up the Wii. So....rain check.

I dismissed the creepy bit after NLx's quite convincing example.
