internet meme

That's the kiddie. Like the Mr. T/David Hasselhoff/Chuck Norris/Jack Bauer meme, the "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US" meme, the moshgirl meme, the Nintendo kid meme - and indeed any other you care to mention - it's just something that happens on the internet. Someone creates them, they spawn rapidly over a couple of months and then, 6 months later, someone posts it and gets "Welcome to last year!" posted at them incessantly.

FGSFDS is going the same way.

I quite like mine, as it's the salmonella virus which multiplies in a similar, exponential way to internet memes - but the only reason I haven't changed it is because I'm very, very lazy indeed.

Hey! Jack Bauer is no meme! :grumpy:

Internet memes are a strange phenomenon - it's almost an entire subculture that rarely surfaces in the real world, but thousands of people would recognize if it did. Even if they didn't admit it.

But it's strange as well, because it is so wildly popular over the internet, yet none of my AIM buddies have a clue what I'm talking about when I say FGSFDS or something.

Hmmm, this trend does nothing for me. I WAS going to add something, but Max_DC done it for me a step better - making a thread. :dopey:

why do you say it was you?
and even if you didn't, this craze would have been brought by another member by now...

Ciao!

The first time I witnessed it being used, I thought Duke lost his mind. (Or maybe he sold it on eBay.)

Seriously, I believe it's idiotic and only encourages lazy grammar on the forums, making younger members believe it's cool to post like that. Bad trend.
There's a big difference between lazy grammar like 'ppl' and 'ur' (which saves exactly 2 keystrokes) and abbreviations like FWIW and IIRC, which are whole expressions that can be reduced for substantial time saved.

FTW and FTL can be quick shorthand, but they do border on sms-speak. They should definitely be used very sparingly and never seriously.

Thanks to the people who love dragging up ancient memes (like AYB) that have long since lost their hilarity, this guy is still as relevent as ever, especially when used as rebuttal:

And indeed the Walama.

GTP has its own memes too - of note are the "Watch out for Famine" gag and, of old, the Kiwi.

The IM IN UR whatever fad is a fad. It'll die down, and I'll probably take mine down in a week or two.

You see it in many people's titles, but I don't see it in avatars or sigs (except maybe once). And I really don't see people post it, either.

EDIT: I guess Nøz will be the first person I see with a IM IN UR avatar.

I had it in avatar, location, and sig once, when it was new. Got top ratings too in all 3 rate your '' threads:D

Woulda had it in my title, but couldnt :indiff:

With that, IM IN UR FORUMZ RUININ UR THREDZ

I'M in UR THREAD RUININ UR...

Honestly i think its pretty funny. But like most things in a few days i will change my captions and location cause it gets a bit old. But until then its still quite funny to read the ones that the intelligent members of GTP made up. 👍

I spend alot of time on the internet, and I hardly notice any of these things...

It was cool when Famine and Duke were the only ones that had it, now that damn near everyone has it, it's godamn annoying.

Yeah, but our Famine is good. It doesn't spread.
:)

*I know someone is going to make a post about actual famine....

Young_Marrior wants you to join him in his quest for mega muscules.

Duke
It started on Bchan (a wide-open-rules graphics forum)

You mean 4chan, in the /b/ section.

/b/ is the bottom of the barrel on the internet. You don't want kids going to that place. Most of the awesome meme's originate from there and SA. And yea, I'm a /b/tard.

Here's a little fact, /b/ gets 50,000 posts.

An hour.

Fad. It'll last as long as the "O RLY" bird.

Ever notice, the fads are coming and going rather quickly these days?

Alot of people still use the O RLY bird. It just depends on the community. I used to frequent a forum where you almost had to know the history of the O RLY Owl to not get banned .

O_RLY.jpg

etc...

Don't ask me where it originated from. I have no idea.

Actually, I was the one who started using it in the title and location.

Wait a minute. Why do I want people know that I started this fad?
