Lynching "Negroes" is more moral than a blow job. That's what Lott thinks. Even if he's not a racist (which he obviously is) he's stupid for selling himself out. D'oh!

That's just you being a prejudist.

How so?

Because you're letting your pre formed opinion dominate your judgement. I'm not saying you should approach this totally objectively, but your being a little too subjective there.

I already know the definition of predjudice. I'm asking what, specifically, you saw as predjudiced.

You claim to know what Lott thinks based upon a single comment he made, that's more than bold.
I don't think it's that bold. How familiar are you with Thurmond's platform when he ran for president?
Totally unfamiliar.

Merely equating segregation and lynching black people and torching churches is absurd. Keep it in perspective, please.

Give an example, or quit making statements like this.

But this stupid veneer of decency and morality restricts honesty in a destructive way. It might be a reason why you can't trust any politician.

Oh, Thurmond? I thought you meant Lott. Thurmond is a racist pig. But Lott condoning the presidential run doesn't necessarily mean that he agrees with everything Thurmond ran for (probably just most of it).Originally posted by milefile
I am keeping it in perspective. I heard an old recording of Thurmond speaking his platform and he actually defended lynching. I heard it on NPR news. I'll try to dig it up and prove it. It's the sort of thing that seems unthinkable today but back then, especially to Dixiecrats and their followers, was a breath of fresh air.

Well I can't find what I was looking for regarding Thurmond's presidential run. But I did find this. Good background on the issue.
