Yes i am.

as some of you may remember i was planning on moving to Alaska. well slight change in plans. im still not going to be a main lander. we decided that we would rather move to Hawaii. so this boy is kicking his dreams of owning a Hummer to the curb. (not at all necessary in HI) and im gonna go for a convertible instead. Ill be transferring to U of H. and ill be living on Oahu.

Were looking towards Ewa Beach because we can ge a 5 bedroom house for a good price, (good price being 500K)

itll be a pain in the behind to ship all my **** over there and i need some cash to start so im selling my car, selling all my stuff (ill open an ebay store and post it for all you guys/girls later)

warm weather here i come!

Hawaii is one of the places that I'd like to visit when the kids get a bit older.

I wish you the best in your move and continuing education. 👍

Also, I'd skip the link to your ebay items unless you want the link removed. Either that or go Premium.

Hawaii is a fun place to visit. The wife and I were there a few years ago. But, I wouldn't want to live there.

Expensive as hell, and a lot of crime. The place is pretty damn crowded, too. My brother's parent-in-law have a summer home there, and they don't even bother to live there year-round. Though, their Italian marble import business there is booming.

I've never been to Hawaii and now you're going to live there... I need to get out there sometime.

But from everything I've heard, I second it not being a good place to live. I guess you really start to see that the place is a touristy spot and not really designed with permanent living as a priority or something after being there a while. And I'm guessing you'd end up getting a little tired of the same ol', same ol' after being there a while with the expectations you might end up having when you move there.

But since you're there for college it might be a totally different experience.

Good luck in HI!!! I'll echo the sentiments above...I love Hawaii, but I wouldn't want to live there permanently (a winter home wouldn't be so bad, though :)). I've heard that some people actually get tired of the monotonous weather. What a horrible problem to have...

My buddy moved there a few years back. He's back here in Fort Worth now. Apparently, the salt in the air was killing the paint on his cars, and he didn't much care for the tourism or large crowds of people. His only advice was to live somewhere within a town's reach, but still well-away from the general population. Crime seems to be big in the small towns. He also feels Honolulu gets old after a while when it's the biggest attraction.

500k, lol. I hope it's a mansion.

I imagine Hawaii isn't much different than southern California when it comes to house pricing.

500k. Is that an average price? :scared:

I would love to visit Hawaii some day.

You'll be lucky if $500,000 gets you anything near this.

now..now..now don't scare him. He may might want to move to California.

5 Bedroom for 500k?

Damn, thats cheap. We have a 4 bedroom 2 bath and it's worth around 900k... If we re-do the garage and upstairs bathroom and maybe a few other things we can get a million out of it.

Ugh.

Lol. the 500K = about 2k sq feet 2.5k if you add another 20k, thats 5 bedrooms, sometimes 2 baths, sometimes 3, and on rare occasions if the house needs TLC 4 bath.

I did however find a Fixer upper, 490K, 8 bedrooms, multifamily house. it has 3 bedrooms up, 3 down, and 2 in the back cottage. all with seperate entrances lol its an idea. and there is apparently a LOVELY view of the Kalihi valley.

we did fins another house that was to good to be true... it was only 300k, ON THE BEACH, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths... but when i called on it it was a Lease Holder Contract, meaning you pay the 300K to start, then you pay 5k a month for the next 13 years = the assessed value of 1.3millionish

that was definately a no go

To be honest i am just sick of the cold weather and ive always dreamed of Hawaii i know the crime is hefty there as is tourism. i guess its just something i wanna deal with.

Basically this is my Ticket out of the 'rents home, and a start on my career.

I havnt decided yet, i was going to go to school for Photography but every time ive tried to get into a Photography job it has screwed me in the end, so im going with my backups, im either going to go for Culinary, or Auto Body. They both make good money and U of H is a good college for either, there are better Culinary schools though. but on an island i dont have much choice.

Im realli leaning towards Auto Body, I love cars, i love fixing cars though i dont know how (yet). so im thinking Auto Body Repair, if i wanted to cook for a living i would stay here and go to Schoolcraft In Livonia because they are #2 in the Country for Culinary.

Lets hope it alll wroks out!

It can't be that bad, surely. There's lots of salt in Cyprus as well, I've never had a problem really. And when the dude is from Michigan (I'd imagine they salt the roads there), Hawaii is gonna be like heaven.

It's actually a very serious situation. Besides the rain, the local gusts of wind bring in the salt from the ocean and spread it around. The soil then has to deal with it as well.

Judging by a lot of the older cars on the islands, the salt wins. If you keep it garaged, and wash it frequently, you can probably keep it looking good.

im a whore for washing my car, if i see a speck of dust on it, it gets a complete wash, wax, (usually get the turtle wax soap with teh wax in it) and then i armorall the whole interior and or windex teh windows i dont mind frequent baths hehe

Never seen this.. Pics?
Anyway, mid 1990s cars are rustbuckets in MI, doubt they are in HI, even though they might have some surface rust :)

This is an example of a house (where I live) in the price range of € 545,000 ($705,502).

Build in 2008. 3 bedrooms.
