I just dicovered that...i'm not premium but i can still view 100 posts per page...hmmm.

This came as a shock but...realy...when you face the facts mods... there is no need to change it. ;) :lol:đź’ˇ

Thanks for letting me know - it's fixed now. :p In appreciation of your honesty, enjoy a month of free Premium access on me. :)

OH....Thanks very much Jordan.
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!!!

Oh my god!!!! Lucky lucky lucky person. Have fun with that mate.

But I loved being able to view 100 posts per page. :( (I was given premium membership for a month last year.) Why limit the post count per page for ex-premium members, though, when there are several other options that persist after the membership expires? For example, a 120x120 avatar stays in place if you don't try to change it, and if a member chose to hide his or her custom user title, then never again touching that box would keep that option hidden after the membership's expiration. I didn't even think that such changes could be applied retroactively; isn't that why some members who joined years ago retain centered signatures or very long entries in the "from" field below their avatar?

Edit: I guess it's because this ability applied to all members, not solely to ex-premium ones. Still, it's frustrating to have that restriction imposed after having expected the privilege to continue indefinitely. :grumpy:

That's just how the software works. For example, it only checks avatar sizes when someone uploads a new one - it doesn't check each user's avatar size against their new user group when they are demoted (and yes, it's the same with the signatures for older users). Other privileges which are determined dynamically with each page load can more easily be "revoked".

So could I...for the last 5 years until you obviously made Jordan close that gap. Thanks !👍
Also I really don't see the point of this thread, I mean, what personal advantage did you expect ?
I mean most people would have simply enjoyed 100 posts per page, but hey, what ever floats your boat...

( Btw, since when is that 20 posts / page rule for non premium members valid ? )

It appears your settings are configured to view more than 20 posts per page - an option which is only available to Premium users. You can upgrade your account or adjust the settings on the options page.

Oh well...

Wow, just had to change my settings to view a simple thread ... nice one! how long before we see 1 post per page and no avatar allowed to push us into premium?

I paid enough on the yearly premium over the years and was quite happy with adblocker for the easier way to use the forum when non premium, but if it keeps getting restricted more and more I will lose interest more and more, sure has changed here

Good work tlowr4

I've been using 100 posts per page right up until I had to change my settings before I was allowed to view anything in the forum :banghead:

Yer strange choice........... but true.... he gets a reward for it and from Jordan's point of view deservedly.
I was happy with just the extra posts on each page.
Oh well.

20 posts is a bit extreme, you then have to skip through pages and pages of posts to get to something posted yesterday if it's a busy thread.

But suppose that's what premium is for. Make life a little easier.

As far as I know, it's been there since the beginning.

Go Premium and you get no ads, red bold username, a bigger PM box, 100 posts per page (if you want it), bigger avatars, limited moderation ability on your own threads, more space for uploads and access to the as-yet-not-renamed-on-that-page Infield forum.

Stop being Premium and you lose that - except your avatar won't revert until the next time you change it and, until yesterday, everyone enjoyed 100 posts per page through a minor programming oversight.

Not seeing the fuss or reasons for vilifying either the member that noticed it or the site. But then I would say that.

It was a bit frustrating this morning when I logged on to check if anything exciting was happening in the Planet only to be told that I had to change my settings to view the forum. :ouch:

When I did and saw this thread I was a bit peeved that the system appeared to have been changed as a result of this thread.

No harm or ill feeling towards the OP or the site from me, I guess its just human nature to resist change for the worse. :guilty:

100 posts per page
I don't see the point of changing it from 20 as it completely screws up the google search box on multipage threads.

Although I am sitting with it set at 40 ppp just now...

I've had mine set at 100 posts per page forever. I did not realize, until now, that this option was reserved for premium users. I will not thank the TC for screwing up my ability to navigate GTP in a manner which I've grown accustomed to for so many years.

I'm thinking that you guys that like the 100 posts/page don't go into threads with a lot of images (like the gif thread). It takes ages for some of those pages to load, even at only 30p/p.

I don't see what the big deal is and I can't see Jordan trying to push people to Premium with this.

For what it's worth I've never used more than 20 per page, ever.

I don't understand peoples attitude in this thread. You pay for what you get, isn't that the point of premium?

You don't pay, you don't get 100 ppp, you can't complain about it especially when you've been exploiting a flaw in the programming.

Amen to that Duke, amen!! 20ppp is just fine with me, has been fine since the start of my time here at GTP, and will not change it because I can scroll through the garbage quicker and pinpoint specific responses a lot easier.

I've never changed it from the default setting. 100 posts per page is a bit over-the-top for me. To be honest, I don't use most of the little perks given to me as a mod, other than the avatar size, and all the moderation tools (obviously).

Regular Ol' GTP has always been more than enough for me. 👍

Well I've actually never been a premium member, still I was able to have 100 posts per page since 2005...
I'm kinda used to it and adding new features for a reasonale fee is one thing, taking a former free "service" away is another.
I absolutely understand Jordan - 100 posts per page has become a premium feature and people obviously still had it after their premium membership expired.
Whom I don't understand is the original poster. What's his point ? Need for admiration ?
It's not like he found a loophole for hackers that could destroy GTP and costs thousands of dollars if not detected in time. That is something I would post. Instead he ( probably accidently ) killed a little feature for longterm members - not the end of the world but unnecessary in my book.

It's not that I ( or the thread starter for that matter ) had all premium features for free. Just one little detail that hurts nobody. Maybe a little gift for those who either once payed for premium or are longterm members ( I'd like to think that every longterm member also adds a little to the success of GTP in general ).

Just my opinion...

It ought not to have been there at all once GTPremium was launched. It just took until now for someone to notice it.

I'm not speculating on his motivation, but the GTPremium page does quite clearly say that 20p is for normal members and 30/40/100p is for GTPremium members. If I'd noticed that, I'd have asked Jordan if it was meant to be that way too - but of course I didn't notice it because I am a Premium member and don't have any particular reason to visit the GTPremium page.

I don't know why non-premium members are complaining about loosing a feature they shouldn't have had in the first place.

Think how pissed you'd be if you bought premium for the sole purpose of 100ppp only to find out you could've got this feature for free.
