Try Shift 2... It may not be as good a sim as GT, but as a *game* it's an amazingly fun, solid racing experience. Highly immersive, loud, fast, dirty and it has a bunch of cars you won't see in GT for another 6 years (Huayra, Scirocco, M3 E30, Gumpert Apollo, CCX, many Porsches). Fantastic night racing. Super addictive Autolog feature... Also a great tracklist, much better than GT's. 👍

What I've come back with so far is gt5 is a watered down version of gt4, when it comes to tuning and features the game has. For the life of me I can't understand why they did away with so many features and tracks that make gt4 more convenient and more enjoyable. Just the ability to be able to save your progress during a championship series, or the ability to clear your races and be rewarded the same prizes. The rewards are great, and cash prizes are reasonable.
They're obviously things that are better in gt5, as mentioned before the driving physics are obviously better and graphics. But at least with the updates that come every now and then there is a chance for gt5 to improve greatly.

I played GT5 pretty much every day from release until about February. Then it became every other day.

Now, I've not played it in three weeks.

I've got all the cars I want (just got 300 dull standard cars left to collect but am not interested), and got to level 37 Aspec (can't be bothered to grind the rest), made some tracks, took loads of photos. Erm.... what else is there to do now?

Tempted to have a blast round the 'Ring at dawn with all the gauges and times turned off the screen, but really wish there was more to do in the game off-track.

I'm so freaking bored of this game, I remember playing GT 1-3 and being entertained for almost a whole year while playing the same game. It only took me 3 month to have no interest in this game.
I've been a member of gt planet long enough to realize that maybe GT 4 is where it's at. So I did some research and I found a used copy of GT 4 for $4.00 at my local gamestop. So I'm going to give it a try, at least it different races on different courses with pretty much the same cars...

Okay. I'm not sure why you have to start a thread. But you may can run some challenge laps with the cars you have. Like I took a BMW M3 GTR Race Car to Nordschleife 24hr while its raining and set a time of 10:00:xxx. It was super challenging.

Because some people Play to Drive... and others Drive to Play...
Also, because Barqs has Bite.

This PSN downtime needs to end soon... having a hard time convincing myself that I want to Drive instead of Play...

Super-Duper True!!!

Okay. I'm not sure why you have to start a thread.

What's the big deal about people starting threads that have maybe been done before? I see these whinges a lot. How exactly does this negatively influence your life? Just don't read them. :)

The problem with GT4 is that the PS2 will eventually stop recognizing it and will not load it at all.
I have two copies and can't play either of them my PS2 won't load them.

GT5 is my go to game when I have the need......the need for SPEED!

I have a few days every month or two when its hard to peel me away from GT. I only play when I have an urge to burn some rubber, or after watching a good race. I wouldn't say I get bored it just find other things to do around the house that have been neglected whilst having a GT5 cram session.

When I have a need for speed and burning rubber, I play Shift 2 Unleashed.

When I feel like a therapeutic, meditative, quiet drive, I go to GT5. (Which is not very often anymore, I must say.)

👍

You guys are crazy, theres loads to do in Gran Turismo 5. I like to cycle through my cars and stop at a random car and get it round any given track as fast as I can, its amazing how those seconds can be shaved off.

One interesting thing I came across when re-doing A-spec was I had a few bronze trophys that I thought were gold.

Maybe its my television (glass screen, remember those?) but bronze and gold look nearly the same.

Anything Nintendo is childish, that's why.

The most badass female game character of all time would like a word with you.

You can always play online and join one of the racing leagues on GTPlanet.

This.. You will NEVER get bored if you start racing in a variety of race series.

Find something with a variety of equal cars, find a variety of events, classes or actual series.

Don't like anything, then start your own.

Alot of my friends and I were of the same opinion about GT5, then we started doing some race series and everything changed. I'm quite lucky as I have alot of PSN friends who like the GT franchise and are petrolheads. They're also pretty chilled out and we can have a chat, laugh, bit of banter, swap setups ideas and help each other etc etc. They pretty much all race clean and fair so there's no worries about cheating or people not playing fair, it's just quality racing and a hell of alot of fun and excitement (aslong as you make sure you're using cars of equal performance).

It totally changed how we feel about the game, I know alot of others feel this way too.

No don't go GT4 just yet. What you need is Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. No more tight racinglines, no more trying to race fairly or with a wheel or tuning cars. A controller in your hand and then go crashing down the highways and take them other racers and cops OUT!

Now THAT'll put a smile on your face. It did on mine. :D

When I feel like a therapeutic, meditative, quiet drive, I go to GT5. (Which is not very often anymore, I must say.)
For therapeutic I go riding in the wilderness in Red Dead Redemption and watch the sunset from cliffs and stuff :)

I don't know how you can be bored with GT5, it has almost everything that GT4 has, and a whole lot more.

If you want more things you can do with GT5, try this:

Go to arcade mode and choose 'single race', equip your car with comfort tires or remove some mods BEFORE THE RACE LOADS. When the race is loaded, restore your racing tires or choose your previously removed mods. The AI field of racers chosen, will have comfort tires or less horsepower etc.

Now start the race. 3...2...1...When the race starts, don't race, instead, hit the brakes, let the seconds tick off and give your competition a 'head start'. Now see if you can overcome the delayed start. If you win by 10 seconds, add 10 seconds to your delayed start and race again.

I like to do 3 laps of the ring this way, it can be quite exciting as you are on the 3rd lap and closing in on your competition. Will you be able to pass all of them and win? Will it be a 'photo finish'? The possibilities are endless.

I always get a laugh when I beat Lambo's, Vette's and Viper's with a Pick up truck or a Honda Odyssey. It can also result in some awesome replays. Who doesn't like a 'photo finish', 'come from behind', or a 'underdog' win?

Anyone want to add their variations of this ???

I think going to arcade mode to try to find more use of the game is pushing it. Gt4 has a ton of more contents, having One-make racing at least added a few more days of racing. I've completed every A-spec event other than the 24 hour endurance races because honestly its no fun, on top of that there is a good chance that your ps3 will crap out on you. Which has happened to me already and I'm not going to pay all that money to fix my PS3 again. So i stand by my statement that there just isn't enough content in GT5 compared to GT4

It's up to you. I have both and played countless hours on each and GT4 doesn't have more content.

In arcade mode of GT5, you can pick any car from your favorites, any track, any number of laps. I don't know why you say going to arcade mode is "pushing it", is the AI any differant if you are playing for credits? You can race 'same car' races in practice mode also.

I rate GT5 twice as good as GT4, but that's just me. I wasn't trying to argue, I was just trying to save you some disappointment. Don't take my word for it, maybe ask some others (who have both GT4 and GT5), what their opinion is.

BTW

GT4 - no online, only 6 cars race at a time, no Lambo's, or Ferrari's, no engine rebuilding, chassis repairs, or car painting, the list goes on.

It's a shame they cut all the one maker races from gt mode, special events are worthless after golding too. All I wait for are the sesonals... and with no PSN GT5 is a pain to play lately.

I'm still a level 23 since I bought the game when it was released. All I do is get out my DFP and practice/fun drift a couple laps. Try the next car and drift, etc. Bored.

There is a "racing" alternative. I enjoy some aspects of GT5 but turn to " " for a racing rush!

They didn't, you can do as many 1 make races as you want to in Practice/GT Mode, the only trouble is that you don't get Credits or Exp Points for them, DOH PD!

:dunce:

He said he is bored with the game, he didn't say he is bored in general.
