Yeah Dr S is just a mask as it seems. If you have a Dr A+ rank then it seems it does more damage than being an honor. From what I seen you don't even need a S Sr. I think I saw a Dr B/B with S/B. That is disappointing.
Got the invitation too, confirmation mail went to junk folder.

same for me...no confirmation email incoming...hmm

Mine didn´t even make it to the junk folder, maybe for some reason ;). I think I finished registration through web page about 1,5 h ago...
I am about DR 55K and matched all criteria for the Starplayer nomination, but I do not think I performed extraordinary well during Season 1 to call myself a Starplayer.
Also I do not have the speed of DR 70K+ aliens, who really deserves the be called "Starplayer", if they additional show their good sportsmanship!
I think the Top 50 of the EMEA or any regional ranking also deserves it.
I guess PD will check now and narrow it for the future to make it more special.

So I will continue to show my A+ (as long I can hold it :D).

They can’t limit it too much though, being star player is one of the prerequisite of getting in top 24 race. With country and manufacturer restrictions they need to make sure they have enough people to enter if others can’t.

I mean it’s going to be complicated when you do dailies to know the strength of the field if B/S drivers have DR S.

Since the recent change in ranking classifications would not the S ranking only mean or stand for that such racer had met the criteria in the FIA Championship to be awarded the designation and would not affect the drivers placement in racing lobbies as that would still be determine by the accumulated DR ranking points?

Exactly but the only way to know their true DR is by searching for them on Kudos Prime or on the Unofficial App. It made things more complicated for no reason. Maybe they should still show the read DR somewhere. Otherwise, all DR S drivers look the same as the progress bar doesn’t mean anything.

One thing is the manufacturers race and the other the nations cup. To be a star player you don't need to perform well in both. How do I know? I performed horribly in the manufacturers race.

I doubt they need 400 DR S players to get 24 in a lobby so that’s not a very relevant argument. They probably wanted to motivate people to run the FIA Championships and having the “exclusive” DR S is a strong motivator.

Does it really make any difference? If you enter the race matchmaking is still going to place the same players in the lobby with or without the reward S not showing their actual DR.

The only way I can see this making any difference in the daily races is if you are one of those that manipulates the ranking and points system by if the racing lobby is not of a level that you prefer to gain maximum points you quit the room and exit quickly before the cars actually go on the grid.

Otherwise if you are not one of those racers it would not make any difference. The race results points awarded would be the same as whether you could see the point ranking DR instead of just the S.

No I mean you often have A+ guys mid pack or at the back because they only did one lap or none at all so you adapt your strategy accordingly as someone might come from nowhere towards the end of the race. Now you need to know who they are or just ignore everyone and run your strategy in a bubble. Not like it happens every race but still I don’t like the opacity of the new DR rankings.

Pd could easily designate what a players actual DR ranking is by doing the same thing that Racing orgs do to make it easy to distinguish the different racing classes on track at the same time and that would be to assign each DR class a color that the "S" would be displayed as that color clearly still designating the drivers actual and original DR ranking.

Solutions to issues such as this are easy to overcome actually

Here is a solution that I gave over in the FIA thread that would solve the issue you speak of.

Out of the total entries 400 is a tiny amount of the player base so no I don’t think it is irrelevant. Plus the top 24 race is one time slot, people have lives not everyone can make it, would look stupid if they then let in other DR to fill the gaps.

And if it is just a motivator then that’s great from PD. Realistically a tiny percentage stand the chance of making a live event, must feel pretty good to those who got DRS who didn’t expect to, in the scheme of things it makes no difference to actual outcome.

I entered 3-4 Top 24 races in the test seasons. Believe me, even back then, people would go out if their way to join them. Now that they really matter, those with a shot at the finals will go out of their way to get in the Top 24. So yes it’s irrelevant.

I agree they aren’t going to struggle to get people in but PD still need a contingency. It’s the middle of summer people have holidays etc.

Plus the entry is points based. Some may not do as well in the first few races and not make it in. They have to have more than enough to qualify with the prerequisite they have set. I admit they’ve made sure they have plenty but better that than not enough.

It’s points based this time? It’s always been based on DR points so that’s interesting. I guess you need DR S to enter even if you’re A+ and maxed out at 75000 but missed Season 1.

The first top 24 race this season is points accumulated in the first 3 races for entry + you need to be DRS. So if you didn’t do s1 you won’t get in, even if it was DR based.

I believe they have said some entries for top 24 will be DR based some points based.

The way I understand it is that you had to meet the championship criteria that rewarded a player the S designation for season 1 to be eligible to enter the top 24 race and the top 24 ranked entrants for the race would be those that actually got to race in the event.

That is my understanding of how it works.

But it should be the Top 24 DR S guys with the highest DR that get in not based on championship points. It never took series points in consideration as only the best results are kept in the final standings and you would penalize drivers getting wrecked or disconnected in the first few rounds.

What a bummer, i did not get a SuperStar invite, I even went out and checked my snail mail. Maybe that might be because I did not race any of the season 1 FIA races??????:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

So what does this do for matchmaking?

Before I was B/S and would rarely challenge for the lead or anything and now am I going to get shredded by aliens in SS?
