i've just become a member of image shack so i can make my gallery better but i've been having trouble how to upload multiple pics at a time.

i believe that u can upload about 20 at one time and i would like to know how to do this.

It is really annouying and time wasting to do one at a time.
Plz can someone help me.
(i did search to see if threads like this - none asked this specific question)

IT would also be really helpful to new members if someone created a tutorial for image shack.:sly:

If it is possible i'd like to know this too, it would save me a hell of a lot of time updating my gallery :D

Before you go to wild on imageshack, I recommend switching to another picture hoster, such as Photobucket. Imageshack might be the most popular hoster, but surely is not the best, having slow servers and blocking whole forums with too much traffic. I use Flock with Photobucket, and it works like a charm.

Imageshack can be kinda annoying sometimes and dosent work on occasions. But i do still use it :) Im liking this idea because it'll be especially useful for us choppers and gallery owners :)

Don't think ImageShack allows that, but I could be wrong.

And even if I am, just don't use it. Use Photobucket, or TinyPic, or ImageVenue, or xs.to, or something else that's reliable and relatively speedy. You'll save at least a year off your life by not inevitably getting angry at ImageShack everytime it decides to upload your photo in a half-decade.

the question being do any of those have the same quality as imageshack. I refuse to use photobucket because it has bad quality.

Tahnks ppl and duck so ur telling me i can use photobucket and use it as a thumnail- but will it expand and make the picture bigger.

How do i do that on other sites apart from image shack?
(edit: i've tried some of those other websites but when you click the thumbnail it is not very big - can you change this? For the thumnails for photobucket, how can i enlarge them when you click them?)

What does "bad quality" mean? On imageshack, it takes me ages to upload, every picture I view needs at least 10 secs to fully load, I have very few options (like uploading several pictures), and I'm member in two totally independent forums that were just blocked completely due to too many big uploads.

At Photobucket however, I have an uploading software (Flock) that works flawlessly from day one, allows me to automatically resize pictures if I want, lets me sort them into albums I can create and delete, is fast and never ever let me down. I can upload up to 1GB of photos, and have 25GB of traffic a month, and it's all absolutely free of charge.

Why, I ask you, should I spend one more day with imageshack?

The only single thing that Imageshack does that I wish Photobucket did is automatically give you a thumbnail link - Photobucket just gives a link surrounded with tags, so I have to copy the link, then right click the thumbnail picture and copy the address in too.

the Interceptor, does Flock give you the full link to copy ([URL="Image link"][IMG]Thumbnail link[ /IMG][ /URL]) or not?

Flock offers me ...

- a direct link to the full picture
- a <html> link
- an link

... and per "create HTML, eBay and IMG code" a clickable thumbnail, such as this:

[URL="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q109/the_Interceptor/hammerzeit.jpg"][IMG]http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q109/the_Interceptor/th_hammerzeit.jpg[/URL]

Besides that, the software automatically copies the link into your clipboard when you click on it. 👍

I don't know what you mean by "bigger". For large photos, you'd just mouse over them, see if your cursor changes into a magnifying glass, and click.

This I already knew - it's the same as Photobucket on its own. But [I]this[/I]:

Aaahhh. That's what I've missed before - I've been doing it the long way round all this time. It'll save a bundle of time in future. Thank you!

Got to love the fact that my mum posted the tutorial in that link, too
(Not my [I]actual[/I] mother - check the username in the link :))

Could i ask a few questions too?
  1. Can I upload pictures to other photo sites (i.e. slide,image venue,pic oodle,etc.)with Flock?
  2. Is there a way to make a bigger preview picture on imageshack ,image venue and/or picoodle without making another picture as a preview picture?

yes ok

oh wow i've figured how to do it with a bit of help from that tutorial!

this means i can use photobucket because it uploads em really fast and i just have to convert all to thumbnails - easy peasy :D
I was making them as thumnails to start wiht - silly me :p

tyvm - shall i make the clickable thumbnails go to message board size or 15 inch - i think message board size would be best wouldn't it?

  1. Currently Flock only supports Flickr and Photobucket.
  2. No.

Go with 1MB file size so you get the max resolution possible out of your photos.

I don't know, but I guess you can find out here: http://www.flock.com/

I think you can not alter the size of the preview thumbnail without making one by hand.

@ Zaine2: 👍

EDIT: Duck was faster! :p

Do you want a bigger thumbnail? If you want a bigger thumbnail you'll have to create another image that's say 400x300.

Once you have that you put it in coding like:

[ URL= large image url ][ IMG] small image url [ /IMG][ /URL]

without the spaces in the image and url tags of course. It will come out looking like this (Im just going to use an example from my gallery)

About the photobucket thing, i was told that the quality of the picture when uploaded through phototbucket was worse then if you uploaded it through imageshack.

That is only possible if you have the picture resized by the hoster. As long as you upload the image unaltered, it is just a file with a certain quality the hoster won't change. Only if you let the hoster work on it, it may be that Photobucket applicates a higher JPG compression than Imageshack, resulting in a lower picture quality. However, I personally think that if you let your images resize by a pichoster, you're not worth using the internet. :p
