I'm not sure I understand why the area behind the front fender has to be that way along with the rear bumper like in the JGTC cars but I'm not really a fan of them.

At high speeds, those front fenders "clean" the air, or make it flow smoother over the body.

The rear fenders allow use of a wider wheel/tire, and the diffusers add downforce.
