don't expect too much tyre life from the rear tyres though.. as you can see from there, eveen slight lowering kit will make the rear wheels go like //=o=\\ same thing bothers 190E's..

That happens to all multi-link cars. Besides, you can't really say neg. camber accelerates the wear, as the outer side isn't worn at all. Uneven on the other hand.. :)

Plus, negative camber is cool :)

It's an M3 Evo, I wouldn't make the tires last very long under any suspension setup.

Which gives better cornering. And makes the wear far more even if you drive even remotely hard. Probably only 1.5 degrees of negative camber anyhow.

Why is that red one wearing what appears to be older supra wheels...

No idea. It might be because my classic Japanese car knowledge isn't up to much and it's a Toyota, not a Datsun. But I'll have to rely on someone more learned than me on the subject. I'm just assuming it's a Datsun seing as it was parked next to a bunch of them.

It's a Datsun 180B SSS (as known in Australia anyway), Datsun Bluebird 610 in Japan

Also had a very similar model based off the same body called Datsum Violet (in Japan)

The non SSS sedan version was the second manual car I ever drove (I was about 13-14)

The red car is a Datsun 180B SSS... don't know much about the 180B SSS in particular, but I do know it made a relatively successful rally car back in it's day... and the 2nd car I ever owned was the somewhat related 160J SSS. The 160J had nicer styling (these things are of course relative when you're talking about late 70's/early 80's datsuns), a 90bhp 1.6 4 pot driving the rear wheels and a dog-leg 1st 5 speed gearbox.

Thanks for the replies on the car's identity. I wasn't sure whether I was being ridiculed for getting the make of the car wrong or whether T_A's question was actually serious (if rhetorical, as it turns out)...

So what's the blue Datsun?

Blue Datsun is an example of the magnifcent 120Y coupe, often regarded as the finest vehicle Japan ever built, and possibly the best car ever built, period.

Cool pics Homeforsummer 👍, that 180B is pretty sweet as is the E21 on the Alpina (or replica) wheels.

Please note that none of these following vehicles will be as cool as a 120Y.

I always seen them (the blue 120Y) as 120Y hatch

and this as 120Y coupe, though I guess it's not a true 'coupe' body.

I dunno where it is regarded as the finest (NZ I guess) but in Australia it was always one of the least desirable Datsuns, 120Y was usually the victim of jokes (Haha you drive a 120Y) The 1200 was always way more popular.

Thats changed now aswell as pretty much every Datsun.

Woot, we've reached page 500, a new milestone.
I remember when this thread first came out and it's first post.
Some awesome and inspiring cars have come from these threads.
Let's keep this going for another 500 pages. :D

I would call that one a 2 door sedan but I could understand where the hatch designation could come from.
Re. the finest car ever comments, I was just making light of the fact that everyone makes jokes at the expense of the rather derided Datsun 120Y. They are/were the subject of mockery worldwide from all apart from true Datsun fans and even then only by the most dedicated. I'd rock one though, I think they have have their place but given the choice between one of them and a 1200 coupe I know which one I would be driving home.

Thanks for the info 👍

Glad you like. All the BMWs at that show were really nicely done. I think that E21 is wearing proper Alpina wheels, and you can also see an Alpina front splitter, badge, and leather interior. It could well be a genuine Alpina C1 or B6. If it isn't, they've gone to a lot of work to make it look like one. All it's missing are the graphics, and I can't see the small black lip spoiler either, though that could be the angle of the photo.
