Don't underestimate blower vacuum, it probably pulls air from everywhere available and I doubt the car's sealed tightly enough--even with doors and windows closed--for the motor to collapse the driver's lungs. It just needs volume comparable to that which can flow through the butterflies.

That may well be the case, but not using something and not being able to use something are two entirely different things. Nothing jumps out at me to indicate it's anything less than fully functional.
