Is the above pic an AW11 MR2, if not, is the AW11 a new version MR2 or the above or the one in between the 2? I have never used a PS2 wheel, just an old Logitech wheel about 6 years old and I didnt like it on PS1, it wasnt compatible with PS2 games. I was wondering if its worth getting Driving Force Pro and whether the lap attachment is worth getting also?

AW11 is the frist one MK1, its the engine code basically

i was thinking of getting a Logitech Driving Force Pro, i've got logitech MOMO racing witch i use on my PC form NR2003 and GTR mostly, its about 3 years now and has been a really good wheel and still is but is not supported by GT and i think the driving force pro wheel you can use on PC too, so it very tempting 💡

MR2s by generation
First gen = AW11
Second gen = SW20 (turbo) or SW21 (NA)
Third gen = ZZW30

The first letter stands for the engine... A for 4A-GE, S for 3S-GTE or 5S-FE, and ZZ for 2ZZ-FE
The W is the car code... W for MR2, E for Corolla, T Celica, and so on.
The numbers indicate generation and model...

Ohhhh I really want one, it sounds like it could be even more awesome modded up :(

This is true... so will a Cadi Northstar ;)

I have no concerns about Emissions... I live in a back water part of Washington state that doesn't even test, so its not much of an issue... I could run with no cat and all sorts of crazy stuff.. but the 20V was passing emissions in a different county that does test here. But I imagine its not as strict as CA still.

The torque of FI is alluring... but revving to 8500RPM... is just awesome. The sound... it gets people's attention ;)

Stupid question but what is FI, a different engine?

FI = forced induction via a turbo or supercharger.

This provides more torque, as the higher density effectively increases engine displacement. In theory... if you add an additional atmosphere of pressure... a bar I believe... then you effectively double displacement... in theory.

NA = Naturally aspirated. This produces more power by increasing compression ratio, along with tunign for higher RPMs. This produces more horsepower, as HP is a direct result of torque times RPM, with an additional fixed ratio in there. The result is more HP with out a drastic change in torque... and with the torque being shifted to the high RPM range.

So while an NA engine may produce the same about of HP as a turbo engine, it will no doubt produce less torque. And torque is very important for acceleration.

Ooh, the NA is in GT4 too! Nice. I really like those funky 3-spoke chunky wheels.

Especially if they have light bars on top of their cars. :D

Definitely go for the DFP. However, forget about the lap device. You will need a sturdy mounting solution for the DFP so it stays in place. Not even a TV tray is good enough if you use 900 degree mode.

i used to own a aw11 88 red t bar na uk spec with black leather seats, had all the original tool kit unused and t bar panel bags etc, never been crashed etc, 2 owners, but it had 125000 miles on it, didnt show, pretty stupidly i decided to see what i could get out of it on the way home from buying it, bought from coventry j2 of m6, floored it onto the slip road, was doin 100 by the time i joined the first lane, straight out into the outside lane, kept it floored, flashed a few people to get the f out of my way and just kept it nailed, big downhill section lasting a couple of miles, i thought if i am gonna get a top speed speedo figure its gonna be here, an mgtf decided to pull out on me doin 120mph and he soon pulled over, i got 147mph on the speedo!!!!! equals to about 130mph ish doesnt it? i was bitten by the mr2 bug there an then, i knew what the car would do and had a wicked year drivin it, could smoke anyone off the lights cos of the very long first gear (i thought it was anyway) down to the fact it just used to rev and rev and rev all the way through the tvis range and all the way close to 9000 revs, never hit the rev limiter if there was one? anyone? would love to know, cant wait to drive the aw11 na in gt4 shame it is the original and not my phase 2 aw11.

do you reckon if there is the t bar that you'll be able to take the roof off?
just a dream!

The stock limited on the 4A-GE in the MR2 is at 7500 RPM I believe.

The crankshaft is good to about 9700 RPM stock I believe.

The 20 Valve is set to 8100 RPM stock, my custom programable ECU is set to 8500 RPM. More than adequete really.

really? i may have had a tuned/sorted one then? mine used to love goin all the way round to about 8500? kinda runs out of steam about then, so i used to change about 8200rpm, more than enough to get a lead on the other guys racin me, they couldnt handle a 12 year old car beatin em in their renault 5 turbos!

i used to redline my old ford orion 1600e doin 7000 revs, that had a limiter but was offset weight in rotor arm.
