Improvement in the smoke / spray effects?

The way the smoke is created is still the same by the looks of it.

There's not much variation once you have your foot down sideways.

In real life smoke wouldn't be that thick straight away, the tires have to heat up.

Oh well, we'll see what it's like in a month.

At least the jaggies that were there in GT5, look like they've been fixed.

I'm very happy to see the jaggies finally gone. I do however still think that the tire smoke should be toned down (or we should be given the option to do so). Either that or do as eran0004 pointed out in post #46.

It looks like smoke stays dense for a bit too long. The way it spreads look pretty realistic in my opinion, but it stays like a thick white fog for too long. As it spreads out it should also get thinner and more transparent.

If we talk about dust clouds from rally, I'm a bit disturbed by the fact that it behaves as if the track is super dry, kicking up those huge clouds. As a result, having online races on dirt tracks is a complete nightmare because unless you're first, you can't really see anything. It's like the 1632 battle of Lützen.

I honestly never expected PD to improve the smoke effects by that much.

I think it's looks pretty, at least for a PS3 game.

I would rather PD make the tyre marks on the pavement more permanent and wipe them say once a month (or once a week depending on how many cars race).

That's my main issue with it besides not being progressive and based on tire temperatures. This usually is only a ''problem'' when playing online and someone loses control in front of you during a race and then *BAM* a really thick cloud instantly appears. Same goes for drifting. It really ruins tandems.

Oh well. Next-gen, perhaps?

One encouraging point here is that they fixed the smoke/practical effects but didn't patch GT 5 means they did substantial renderer updates.

So the 50% more contrast in lighting and tesilation is quite real and meaningful, not just tech babble that could have simply already been in GT 5 to a lesser extent.

Some of my vids from the GTA demo - the smoke is not the same as GT5, it's not quite as dense and complex, but much cleaner. You won't find better looking smoke in any current auto game or in the near future IMO

Also the tyre marks stay for quite a long time, more of them before they get wiped by the next one layed down

Its nice to see they fixed the pixelation problem. It made getting a sexy drift photo harder than it should have been in GT5. As nice as the smoke looks in GT6... how about that drifting. That. Was. Impressive.
I reckon he was just messing around.

I believe the smoke for GT6 needs to be more "Cloudy". Right now its just like a haze. And with the smoke with drifting, It needs to rely on how fast the tires are spinning. Of course it does that a little now, but needs to rely on a little more with that. Also, Smoke dont go up in bunches until it all starts collecting together about 100 ft back from your car, and by then, it starts dissappearing :( Its needs to start out in bunches if your driving your high hp car that way and should roll off your car at least 8-10 seconds after you shut down the drift. Im the type of person who thinks of smoke as HUGE smoke clouds. The physics could be better with standing burnouts as well cuz the cars still move forward a little. I vote SMOKE!!! Ill post a vid of a good example when i find out how

Smoke should get some improvements. The trigger to activate smoke seems to be an on/off situation where you either have lots of smoke or no smoke at all. The smoke levels you get in GT6 are only realistic for high powered cars or when spinning out at very high speeds. There needs to be an "analogue" signal where you can have small amounts of smoke which is more realistic for low to mid-powered cars.
