Here are two .avi files for your downloading pleasure. These were taken from my NASA track day on August 22, 2004 at Sears Point (it'll always be Sears Point to me). I drove in 3 of my 4 sessions that day. My last session got cut out because my throttle cable broke. I fixed it at the track before my 4th session went out, but I also had to drive the car home, so I didn't want to push my luck. This was in my daily driven but modified 1983 Rabbit GTi.

http://images.miller-motorsports.com/sears082204/video/ They are the ones titled "tape1test" and "tape2test" Warnings: Please don't view them from the server, just download them, they're safe. They're also quite large, but it's about an hour and a half of video.

This was my first day on track and I passed more cars than passed me. That's not really fair though, as I had a lot of go-kart experience before then. You'll hear me mention "Speedring." It was an indoor karting facility in Santa Clara, CA that I worked for. A benefit of that job was that I could jump in a kart and drive whenever I wanted.

My quote of, "The Volvo's timid!" refers to the fact that the driver was in a passing zone, could have made the pass, but for whatever reason did not.

Very cool.

I don't know if I should fast foward through all the waiting. It sure does build suspense...hahaha.

Yeah, it's not just a lap or three cut & edited... it was my whole day with NASA pulled from a digital video recorder (that records on tape- go figure) and turned into true digitized form. Actually some of the things you hear my instructor and I talking about you may be able to watch for on the track.

indeed, I did. It's very nice...kind of an insight for what to expect.

How's that vette coming? lol. Can I ask what all the crazy instructor hand signals meant? Also, were you alone during the timid volvo moment, or was he just out of frame the entire time?

During the Volvo moment I was alone. My instructor wanted to do a "lead / follow" session with me. If you look in my rear view mirror, you'll see his silver Subaru following me.

His hand signals were directing me onto the line and when he gave me the 👍 it meant I was doing well. He just liked to give me instruction without any voice to distract me. I could see his hand motions in my peripheral vision.

The Vette is hopefully getting put together this summer. I have applied as a mechanic at two local Corvette Restoration shops. I'm going to see if I can trade some hours of my work for parts for my car.
